I'm not sure where to say this because I'm not quite sure if they're hard rock or metal.....but Volbeat is a fucking fantastic band
Check the new Cattle Decapitation. Not sure if they'd be up your alley or not. New is good, just not as good as their previous. At first I was like "damn, someone else likes Bongzilla", then I read the username and went It's cool to see you posting here. As a Bama fan all you need to know is
It's about time. I've been waiting for this. Speaking of things I'm waiting for, how's Nebulous doing?
Hopefully I don't get ripped for this... But a friend of mine recently introduced me to Between the Buried and Me; easily one of the most talented bands I've heard. Recommended songs: Selkies White Walls Swim to the Moon Aesthetic
fify Spoiler one of my personal favorites. just absurd amounts of talent. Tommy Giles Rogers is a god.
Who doesn't like BtBaM? They have ridiculous amounts of talent. White Walls is such a fantastic song...
Pretty well, I should finish up the vocals in the next few weeks. Once that's done we just have to wait for them to be mixed and mastered and then printed. Did I ever let you listen to the rough instrumental tracks?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I also want to listen, matter of fact, why don't you just post them here? Then everyone can enjoy. O yea, music.
You did not. I think we had a smoke and listen date planned, but it's likely we both got high and forgot.
New song from their album "At the Gate of Sethu" http://www.noisecreep.com/2012/05/25/nile-at-the-gate-of-sethu/ happens. Maybe, I'll have to think about it.
Odin asliceofpizza http://soundcloud.com/nebulous666/sets/instrumental-roughs :fuckyocouch: I'm probably only going to leave these up for a bit for people here to check out. I'm sure the producer and label would frown upon it.
I may get blasted for this but I really like Brendon Small's new project http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn2kja5M64s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bpd3j3ZMRks
since I mentioned the new Rush album in here before, i'll follow-up. sorry if it's not strictly metal. before i listened to it, i read a few reviews saying that it was like a new Counterparts - it's not even close. there's something about the mixing/mastering that just sounds like shit imo. maybe it'll grow on me, but i was pretty disappointed. after 40 years, or however long they've been in the game, a lot of bands predictably just turn into a cover band of themselves (i love Motorhead, but they're exhibit A of this), but that's not what this album is. i just didn't think it was very good. maybe the vinyl release will sound better, . if you like Rush, Caravan is pretty tight, though http://youtu.be/if-WrgfGxeI
maybe they're a mainstay for most of you, but Morbid Angel is pretty tight. i'm not even sure that i like them very much, but after listening to a live Opeth show (i like Opeth a little bit) where Mike Akerfeldt said something along the lines of "this song is a bunch of Morbid Angel-sounding riffs", i decided to check them out a little more. and they do have some sick riffs.
Going to see them again this fall. I agree with you, new album is good, but not great. I really do like Caravan though
More self-whoring for those interested. A (very) rough track with vocals from the new album. Feedback appreciated. Keep in mind it's still amp simulation and none of the levels are even close to being mixed right. http://soundcloud.com/nebulous666/nebulous-rough-1-vox
Do you do all of the vocals or does Matt do some? Also, this sounds very promising. Another also, I'd really like to see Nebulous in action. The third also, where have you been? I haven't seen you in months.
Anybody like Iced Earth? Matt Barlow has got to be one of favorite metal vocalists of all time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46pb5-uo6RI
All me. Find us a drummer and we'll play again. Finally, I'm back in Moody for the summer working. Once I can get some money, I'll visit for a weekend.
Serious question that I've always wondered, how the fuck does your singer do that night in and night out? I don't sing anything close to that crazy, but if I sing "War Pigs" in a set, my voice is fucked by the end of the show. Are some dudes just put together differently, or is there a way to sing like that without frying your vocal chords?
It's just practice. You instinctively want to just lower your voice in your vocals chords, but that's what kills them. You have to really focus on pushing lots of air out and making the sound come from your stomach, if that makes any sense. When I first started, my voice would be gone and my throat would be on fire. Over time and with practice I got to where I can do an entire set and not even feel it in my vocal chords. We haven't played as a full band since October, so in the studio I struggled at times having any consistency since we hadn't been able to practice.
Did you ever use that Art of Screaming instructional video that all of the metal vocalists cite in interviews?
Nope. Luckily death metal is a pretty small scene, so it's easy to talk to vocalists from other bands after shows or on facebook and get some tips. Everything I know is second hand knowledge from other vocalists. Also, a lot practice and learning the hard way. The biggest thing I encounter is running out of breath in the middle of a line. I'd like watch those DVDs for the breathing techniques.
Sick man, I think it's fucking killer that you get to do that. If I was in a band, would definitely want to do vocals.
LAMB OF GOD Management Says Case Against RANDY BLYTHE 'Is Only In The Investigation Stages' - June 29, 2012 Adrenaline PR, which handles publicity for Richmond, Virginia metallersLAMB OF GOD, has released the following statement regarding the reports that the band's vocalist Randy Blythe was arrested yesterday (Thursday, June 28) in the Czech Republic and charged with manslaughter over an incident that happened more than two years ago: "LAMB OF GOD management will be issuing an official statement on Monday regarding the charges made against singer Randy Blythe. As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos. "Having said that, management wished to address today one false piece of information that has been included in many of the news stories released so far. Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head. "Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts needed to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate." The incident in question took place during the band's show at the Prague club Abaton in May 2010. When LAMB OF GOD arrived on Thursday to play a show at the Rock Café in Prague with SKELETONWITCH and ALL SHALL PERISH, the local police brought Blythe in for questioning. LAMB OF GOD's appearance at the venue was canceled later in the day. Randy's brother, Mark Blythe, told CBS-6 that he's awaiting further details and said the charge is "bogus and outrageous and will be dropped immediately." Shortly after 9 p.m. EST, the #freerandyblythe hash tag was posted on the @lambofgodband Twitter account (which is run by a fan and not the bandmembers themselves).
Ghost is cool, I really like these "retro metal" bands out of Sweden. Honestly I prefer this sort of sound to being blown away by death metal. But I like In Solitude more. If you're not familiar with them, they're kind of like Ghost but more NWOBHM One of my favorites of theirs Spoiler http://youtu.be/xi3BWqkJ8lc The first single from their latest album Spoiler http://youtu.be/QzRyOSz2fjE?hd=1
Anybody here listen to Baroness? I caught the end of a song today on Sirius that sounded pretty cool and wanted to know if they were worth checking out more.
Yes, Baroness is cool. They remind a little bit of Mastodon, if that helps. Spoiler http://youtu.be/2eH13VblQfI
I listened to Ghost a bunch before I knew about their shtick, so I actually just liked the music. I think "Con Clavi Con Dio" is a fucking dynamite song with a kickass intro. It isn't the most technical stuff in the world, but I like the retro/sludge/acid metal/atmospheric vibe of it. Their costumes are pretty hilarious.
