Interested in getting AC3. Never played a game in the franchise. Should I get the first 2 and breeze through to get the storyline, or will it play stand alone? Also, what's the deal with the 2 side games?
Youtube everything for AC1, play AC2, consider Brotherhood if you really like AC2, and skip the hell out of Revelations. I still think AC2 is an absolute masterpiece.
This minus considering brotherhood. AC1 was pretty overall, and AC2 fixed every problem with it and improved on the game ten fold. AC2 is the most complete game I've ever played hands down. I was really excited for brotherhood, and it ended up being lackluster and I didn't even bother with revelations.
Fuck Revelations. They could've squeezed that storyline into Brotherhood. It seemed like Ubisoft was making a huge money-grab by releasing that. I didn't need something to "hold me over" from 2 to 3.
Oh it was 100% a money grab. Still enjoyed the fuck out of my Revelations playthrough though. Game is just fun
Yea it is. AC2 is more of what AC1 should've been but AC1 is still a reasonably good game and kicks off an incredible story so give it a go.
I would play 1 and 2 for the story. fuck the rest of them, complete rip offs as dlcs always are. You could probably just play 3 if you wanted but you're the same character all the way through so I wouldn't want to do it that way.
will be starting ACII tonight I'll never forget staying up all night to go buy ACI my third year of college and just being so disappointed with it...Target got me stocked for a few weeks worth of gaming
Did you finish AC2 yet? That level where the whole city is a big festival is one of the GOAT video game levels all time
no I'm probably not really close to finishing it will be playing it a bit tonight. I think I'm only on like memory five
Bought AC1 just to play the story. Started trying to find all the flags, quickly said fuck that. Then I was trying to just complete all mini missions to gather intel, even that shit is repetitive. Everybody told me this was how it was. Given that, I have high expectations for AC2 based on what everybody has said.
I started with AC2, then played through BH and Rev. I am now going back and playing AC1 (came free on the Revelations disc). And holy shit is it a lot worse, just so repetitive. You will love AC2 compared to this. There is nothing more annoying than the retards that will push you as you try to walk by...well maybe the bitches that run up and tell you they are "poor and sick and hungry" and stay in your face.
That's the only achievement I really want now. The one where you have to sling 200 of those hoes out of the way.
my hands have gotten sweaty several times while playing because it's so realistic looking/easy to get into
well it took me close to two months of playing ACII a couple nights a week to beat it, but I finally did....love that it gives you the option to go back and explore the cities really really awesome game. Gave you a wide range of missions, lots of pretty cool stories to follow, and the visual effects were so stunning. Best part of the game for me was just the details you'd see like the accurate floor plans and vaulting designs you'd see in churches. You could go look at Gardner's Art Through the Ages and see the exact same details in the game as you would in the book or in person. So fucking awesome I am probably starting Brotherhood tonight after Verlander pitches
Started AC2 a few days ago. This game is amazing. Cornelius Suttree the layout and design of the Duomo is as good a replica as can be created in this format. I love this game.
I'm getting balls deep in Brotherhood starting tonight. Played for a solid hour the other day and pumped to get deeper into it
Let me know how it is. It seems to get mixed reviews on here and revelations is a turd sandwich apparently.
Revelations was ok. I finished it and sold it. Just no desire to do any side stuff in it cause Istanbul was extremely underwhelming in terms of atmosphere. You can't beat the wonder of stepping foot in Renaissance Venice. AC2 is just perfect in my eyes.
Revelations wasn't as good as the AC2 or BH, but it was still decent. It was great to see the story wrap up of Ezio and Altair even though the Desmond story line doesn't move much at all. I would still recommend playing it
at the very least the setting and ability to climb amazing structures and assassinate an endless amount of guards will make it fun for me
I'm a big fan of destroying the towers of the family in control of certain sections of Rome in Brotherhood destroying towers was a huge way to ruin the prestige of Italian families wayyy back in the day. Nice historical touch
The next time I hit on a bitch at the bar I'm going to mimic the way the guards act when i hire whores to distract them.
Yeah the tower defense minigame kind of sucked. I've played all of them, I hope III is as awesome as it looks.
I wish I could like Ezio more than I do Spoiler not a fan of the way he treats his sister in the early stages of Brotherhood. Opposing her when she wants to take over the brothel
Been considering jumping into this franchise, 3 has me very intrigued with the Revolutionary War stuff.
The ACIII Season Pass will include five pieces of additional content including the three-episode “The Tyranny of King Washington” expansion. This DLC will bring an all-new single-player campaign that represents an alternate version of the "history of the events following the American Revolution". Of course, the Season Pass will also include new content for the game's multiplayer. No specific details were given, but "new maps and characters" were promised. All of the content included in the season pass will be released within six months of Assassin's Creed III's launch date of October 31st. The pass will cost 2400 MSP, or can be pre-ordered for $29.99 from GameStop or Best Buy. In addition to the 25% savings you'll receive against buying the packs individually, Season Pass holders will also have access to the first DLC pack one week before their general release. 2 Things: The Washington as King thing should be badass and this Season Pass thing is getting ridiculous. So now I'm paying $ 85 for my game. Not including DLC not included in the season pass.
Yeah I just stay away from DLC all together in every game I play. I also have gotten to the point where I wait a couple of months after a game comes out to buy it so it is half off. That said, I have already put down for the pre-order for this game.
I am so bad with the crossbow in Brotherhood, just completed sequence six and some proficiency with it would have been great at the end of that sequence
I'm (slowly) working my way through Brotherhood and it's pretty awesome ACII was all kinds of awesome. That's a game people should play regardless of the fact there's a new one in the series coming out
I'll probably look into those then. I just know I for sure want to check out AC3 because of the American Revolution theme, but wasn't sure if not having played the games before it would take anything away from gameplay.
Great thread - been wanting to play the franchise and just never have for some reason. As far as the going back after playing 2...i can never do that with any franchise. I just couldnt imagine playing Mass Effect or Uncharted after playing the sequels of those, specifically.
