Anyone on it? A FB friend recommended it. Looks pretty cool. Its a social network site based on books. Users rate books, after you rate a few, it starts sending suggestions. Not sure how much Id use it because the last several books Ive read have come from TMB recs.
Yeah. We even have a group there if interested. http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/60593-the-mainboard-group-of-people-that-like-books-and-stuff
Hopefully now that I'm done with nursing school I'll be able to read something besides medical books.
Eighteen members so far. I'm not sure who is who. Only two people (I think) have the same username there as the do here. Also, no one shows to be currently reading The Passage except me...
Just approved that bitch. Just FYI, the reason I set it up so I had to approve each person was so I could keep track of how many people were in the group, possibly pair them with their TMB persona (like Truman here) and, honestly, to keep me interested in the Goodreads site. It's really cool and I forget about it a lot. This keep me honest about it.
Its kind of hard to remember all the books Ive read and back logging them all. ANd I really havent read that much. I can barely remember two books ago.
Cool I just downloaded it. Any good so far? I just ordered the Theodore Roosevelt bio that I heard was good, one of Michio Kaku's books, Cloud atlas, and the song of Achilles
I haven't started it yet. Should finish Closing Time (sequel to Catch-22) tonight and start The Passage tomorrow. Really excited, sounds like everyone who is reading it right now is really enjoying it.
I normally read everything for free on my iPad, but I just moved into a new apartment and needed some more books to fill up a bookcase
FB. A lot of people are afraid of using FB for this kind of stuff, worried they are building some dossier on them. Here's my FB dossier: This guy likes reading, especially fantasy. Listens to blues and classic country. Plays board games. And really enjoys bacon. That's all we got.
I use a "signup" fb account that is based off a yahoo email address I created then deleted, so even the fb notification emails go nowhere The account also gets used for work stuff once in a while when someone needs to test out tracking on FB, etc.
I love this review of Blood Meridian in this site... I seriously felt the exactly the same way reading it: "The man finished the book. He closed the pages tightly together then put one foot on the floor then the other then used his hands to push himself up out of the chair and then put one foot in front of the other until he had walked all the way to the book shelf and then put the book on the book shelf. The deer walked in. The man whirled around and fired once with his pistol and the brains of the deer went flying out the back of its head and painted the wall a color dark red like blood. The man sat down again like a man sitting down."
I loved Blood Meridian. I want to reread it soon because I know there is a shit ton more to get out of the book than what I got the first time through
Anyone know what makes an author a "Goodreads Author'? Ive noticed that both Justin Cronin and Gillian Flynn are dubbed as such. Just curious.
A good mod would have accepted it in the 4 minutes between your posts. Unfortunately we're stuck with Arkie Proud
I requested to join on Tuesday at 10:12 p.m. The other post was OneKnight. You don't read good, do ya boy?!
What is your Goodreads name? BECAUSE YOU ARE OUT, FELLA! OUT! Has everyone that applied been accepted?
Just sent another request in case the first didn't go through. It says I still haven't joined any groups...
Changed it in my post. I figured since you signed up using your real name, and everyone can see it there, you were cool with it.
Haha, no worries. I signed up a loooong time ago, so I never really thought about joining a TMB group.
I like the site itself. I can read reviews and chronicle my reading... I just bounce around there sometimes and read shit. Being in a group that does that same, even if we don't do it as a group, appeals to me. So I like it.
