i fucking hate jay lansman. in season 2. hope that fat fuck gets got, smacking, chomping, fat fucking fuck piece of shit excuse for a human
Rewatching thanks to Houndster . On S4E11. Has ranking the theme songs by season been discussed? Also, does anyone else get a huge kick out of Landsman?
Yeah. Avon also bounced those fools from his coming home party for being high. Granted, that was coke.
Fucking swimfag. Not to mention Lt Dennis Mello is fucking awesome and he's the actual Jay Landsman, making the character even cooler
I also love the closing montage of season 2 with Steve Earle's I Feel Alright, although season 2 is probably my least favorite
I liked season 5 just because of the closure it brought to television's greatest show Season 2 was shell shock at first because you're thinking "what the fuck happened to everything that was going on last season and why should I care about all these new people" but it grows on your with each rewatch IMO
Season 2 is so awesome. Was not a fan of it the first time, but like you, I like it every time I watch. Plus it has some of the best scenes (Omar in court), D at the book club in prison, etc. Love season 2.
completely agreed seen it three times now and it has some of the best commentary of the entire series the real players always get away whether through being too far from the street, too tied up in the money, or too useful to some nefarious feds desperate situations create criminals; they aren't born violent frank's spiel about how no one wanted to help his union when ships stopped coming in and baltimore turned away from the industry but now they want to run their mouths about looking out for him is 100% on point
It's also great when you look back and think about it in the scope of the show. In reality, season 1 doesn't end and then we immediately jump to season 3. Time passes, cases get colder, people stay free. All this talk is going to make me need to rewatch again
That's why shows like The Wire fail on tv. People don't want to log in the time that addicting shows like it require. You can't just watch one random episode out of order
I have a couple other shows I need to watch for the first time but it's definitely been too long since I watched the whole show. Will prob save for the summer.
Additionally, I feel since it's been 5 years off the air, we should be allowed to openly discuss the show anywhere on the board. Caution to the wind, spoilers be damned
not a surprising opinion coming from you but I tend to agree if you haven't seen it yet Spoiler then fuck you yes
I posted it on the last page, but this is probably my favorite scene from the series. Anybody else got a favorite they want to share?
one of my favorite scenes is when dookie takes the guys to see the dead body. so innocent going in, then he drops the "there ain't no special dead, just dead." so cold blooded. then everything starts to fall apart almost immediately after that scene
It's what war is though you know? Once you in it, you in it. If it's a lie, we fight on that lie, but we got to fight.
prob my favorite scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7qisQrpqUE close call between bubs and bodie for favorite character. probably the two characters you get the most emotionally invested in because they're in the majority of the show. and both of them are "good people." I know one is a drug addict and the other a drug dealer, but Bodie does what he's supposed to and is loyal and all that and Bubbles is just trying to get by and in the end get/stay clean. Guys did a fantastic job developing these two characters. Always liked this scene too. Barksdale tellin Marlo how it's gonna be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kQLgWw9aRw
I think the most genious thing about the show is that some of the main characters are drug dealers and users and they don't try to make them 'good guys' but they humanize them while also not demonizing them. Bodie started out as kind of a hot headed jerk that then killed his friend, one of the more 'innocent' characters on the show, yet by the end you felt terrible when he got got himself. Bubs' decisions led to a yougn kid OD'ing but you still rooted for him. Stringer was ruthless and ordered the hit on another one of the more 'good' characters yet I kind of wanted him to succeed. Marlo can burn in hell though
"Ain't no shame in holding on to grief, as long as you make room for other things too" Damn Bubs, right in the feels
If I could skeet spit through my teeth over the internet, I would. Nothing innocent about Wallace. Everyone tried to do a feels when he got shot. Fuck that noise he started getting high on their supply til he was a straight junkie and snitched. Shoulda stayed at grandma's. The game ain't for everybody.
Disagree. His mother was a strung out junkie that didn't care where he was. He was sleeping in an abandoned building taking care of a bunch of homeless kids and making sure they went to school every day. He was selling drugs yea but do you really think that if he came from a stable family life he would've been out there on the streets? Of course not. He started getting high after he saw the mangled body of a guy he identified to his boss as one that robbed them and freaked out at what they did to him. If you really think Wallace was some hardened criminal that was unredeemable then you're either crazy or not thinking straight.
