His teammates were suspicious in September because of the way he played up the emotional angle in the media, considering he had told them he had only met her once. He tells the SB tribune they met multiple times, and met at the Stanford game in 09. Never once in all his interviews mentions he has never met the girl He is quoted as saying " his girlfriend died of cancer" on Dec 8th which was 2 days after he supposedly got the call from her saying she was still alive. He told one interviewer he received his last letter from her ( that she supposedly wrote before she died) before the Stanford game, but told another he received one before Sr. Day and the Wake game. He doesn't tell the ND admin about the cryptic phone call until Dec 26th, nearly 3 weeks after he supposedly got the phone call. his dad was still posting articles talking about Lannay/Teo's relationship January 8th a full month after Teo got the call and 10 days since ND started their "investigation". Teo's good friend, Tuiasasopo is the guy who put together the online accounts involved in the hoax, so who is the girl who Teo talked to every night for 3 years on the phone ? Also, who was the rest of the family that Teo supposedly talked to all the time and notified him of her death? You have to assume none of them were Tuiasasopo or Manti would recognize his friends voice. So he had all these people involved in this elaborate hoax for 3 years for Tuiasasopo's own personal joke ? I just can't accept that he wasn't complicit at some point.

Finally about to crash. I just have to say that after following this board from the start...this thread captivated me like no other. So many twists turns plot holes and great jokes. The fact the AD thought it was a great idea to hold a press conference on the same night just put it over the top. Because I spent my entire evening thinkin about this story it starts to get numb. But when I sit back and truly think about ND holding a press conference with the AD crying his ass off...all about a players fake girlfriend that was part of the biggest story of the year....its just mind blowing really. ND has waited years YEARS to become relevant again. An undefeated season and a heisman finalist and all that's left to show is multiple embarrassments on a scale like no other. Good night gentleman. This is good, I couldn't have put it better myself. I'm just pissed that most of the media is defending him and playing the "poor guy got catfished!" angle instead of pressing the issue to find out why lied several times about meeting her in person and why he continued to mention his dead girlfriend after he knew he had been "hoaxed".
