I feel the need, after it was brought to my attention, to clarify that The Blackfish is cool with me and seems like a decent fellow. On mobile, but of I could, I would insert the emoticon of beer clinking here.
This board gets little action enough as it is, I don't see the point in splitting it across two boards. I'm glad we have it though in case TMB ever decides to downsize sub boards
If you guys want to get together for a game of Castles & Crusades (I can DM!), we can all read my book at the table.
[ thread derail ] Castles & Crusades was created by guys that loved old AD&D and wanted to bring it back to the fore, while tweaking some of the cumbersome mechanics. Gary Gygax, the creator of D&D, spent his final years working for Troll Lord Games, the makers of Castles & Crusades. He loved it, said it was what D&D should have been. So if you liked AD&D, you'd like C&C. Very similar, but the tweaks make it simpler to game. [ /thread derail]
I was remarking to an old friend with whom I (and obviously several others) used to play AD&D that I miss pencil/paper RPGs. I can't get into MMOs and thus still have the urge. That group is the only group I've ever had and it's now scattered across the world. Short of skype (), there's no solution in sight. You're in NWA right?
We can meet in Clarksville. All bullshit aside, I'd love to meet up with some TMBers and drink some beers and hang out a bit. If a game were to break out, then so be it. My brother lives in Springdale.
I've never done a pen and paper RPG, but I've wanted to try it for the longest time. The only problem is that most of my friends would probably refuse to do it because they aren't as awesome as we are. Maybe one day I'll find a group of local ATL nerds and infiltrate their game.
I've got a long list of TMB meet-ups that can attest to my willingness. Braves, Infected Donkey, hipsterjoe, tilly, arkadin, killrbee7, colonel forbin, and others I'm surely forgetting. Any time you want to grab a cold one around here, let me know. Games would be a plus. If you're interested, I can guarantee that you'd enjoy it. There was never an instance in which we didn't have fun. Mentally engaging, social, and fantastic (in the true sense of the term).
The Blackfish noticed that Red Rising trilogy someone suggested to you. Looks pretty good. Definitely will check that one out.
Just made an account and requested to join the group. Spoiler Had an account but deleted it and set up a new one that I intend to actually use
Iron Mickey got an audible chuckle out of me when I went on goodreads this morning to find him heckling me about a rating for a book I logged 5 years ago.
I gave a 1 star rating to World War Z. He took issue w giving a 1 star rating w/o any commentary on it.
It was so long ago I cant remember but I just couldn't get through it. Thought it was kind of cheesy. My general system is 1 Star - Couldnt even finish it 2 Star - finished but didnt like it 3 Star - Liked it. was worth ready 4 star - really good 5 star - great. I have to REALLY hate a book to just walk away. A book really has to blow me away for 5 stars.
I requested to join. Just to make sure you accept me into your exclusive club, I used some profanity in the request message.
Goodreads has started ordering book series in chronological order instead of publication order. I hate it.
