The Apple watch looks nice, but I can't see using it for anything other than a fitness tracker. It's going to be the most successful product bust in history.
It will likely dominate the low-end watch market & has already caused the Swiss to take notice. Alpine has a "smart" watch coming to market that doesn't look half bad. Spoiler
noun noun: watch; plural noun: watches 1. a small timepiece worn typically on a strap on one's wrist. synonyms:timepiece, chronometer;More
They sold a million watches at an ASP of $500 on their first day of sales. Thats $500 million if you are slow at math. Quite the bust... http://qz.com/381791/apple-watch-pr...its-first-day-a-shopping-data-firm-estimates/
There are products that sell well but are busts once people use them. Judging from reviews, that's how most people feel. It's selling well becuase it's Apple, not because it's an ideal product.
Apple could sell branded shit and the Apple fanboys would buy it. I just don't see how the watch is useful. You have to have your phone on you for the watch to do much of anything. Knowing that, why wouldn't you use your phone and bigger screen? I just can't understand anyone buying it for any reason other than thinking they are cool for having one. Anyone that buys the $10k one needs to be shot.
Anyone wearing a watch has a cell phone in their pocket anyways. This sounds like an argument against watches all together.
True. As I type this, my phone is in my pocket and my watch is on my wrist, so nothing would change in that equation except for the type of watch. In fact, the watch would make more sense for my wife who can never get her phone out of her purse in time to answer it anyway.
Which leads back to a watch being a fashion piece these days. That's fine if you want the Apple one for a fashion piece, but spare me the "Omg it's so useful" crap.
We get it, people buy Apple products blindly. It is mostly redundant as it must be used in conjunction with the iPhone already on your person. For the cost, you could own a timeless piece, that isn't obsolete in 2 iOS updates. Who are we to judge? Enjoy sending heartbeat texts to the 999,999+ other dolts...
I recently bought a vintage Seiko Automatic Diver with cerakote finish. Should be here in a few weeks, really excited for my first automatic watch. All the nato and zulu straps for this one. I've traditionally been a Swiss Army Victorinox guy. Met a client last week who was wearing a Panerai Luminor. Really liked it, but I'd like a Panerai bronzo. Spoiler
I wanted to get the Galaxy watch. I go to the gym run, ride my bike so I wanted something to track my workouts and that would play music. Unfortunately once I looked into the phone I learned it would be a huge waste of money. Unlike the Apple watch the galaxy can be a stand alone device so I really can't understand why anyone would want the apple watch.
I think it's safe to say over 99% are at the low end of that. Imo the only people that'll buy the expensive as hell one are the filthy rich. The $14k apple watch (or whatever it costs) is zero market threat to anybody considering an actual watch in the $10k+ price range.
No doubt the Apple watch is competing against Quartz & intro automatics. Most will buy the bare-bones version for $400, but the majority of their models are in the $699-$1100 range... Watches begin to get really nice at that price point.
Boarded a plane with my apple watch today after I bought a burger in the terminal with my apple watch. It was awesome. The look of those around me was priceless.
bet those poors didn't even know you were supplementing young shock's college education with that purchase.
Definitely not. I will say I am now happy about the massive markup of goods inside an airport terminal. 2% on a burger from an airport is much more than 2% of the cost of a burger purchased just about anywhere else. Thats money in shock jr's pocket.
changing out parts on the seiko skx007 to make it look like whatever you want Spoiler original: modifications: http://wornandwound.com/2013/09/16/watch-modding-101/ It is a very popular watch to modify. It is a great price; high quality and has a huge community of modders
This is such a stupid idea nowadays with how much Apple sells. Can't be fanboys when you start running market shares and become the world's largest company.
