According to the designers it's a cloth material, though it has pieces of armor here and there (like the knuckles, for examples).

It's the most comics-like suit Batman's ever had.

Marvel is really to thank for it. They proved with their in-house movies that you can have guys who LOOK like the comic characters and it won't be silly. Can you imagine if Captain America wore a black leather jumpsuit with a little white star on the arm?

I googled it "no homo" and it said Affleck put on like 25 lbs for this as well. So he going to look big as Bruce and probably look even bigger in the batsuit, which was one of the issues I was curious about when they cast him and were going with the TDKR comic.

Yeah if this was ten years ago it would have started riots.

But Affleck has kind of turned a corner. I don't mind it now, especially with the look they're going with.

Kind of the same deal with RDJ and Iron Man. What was he really doing prior to those and the new Sherlock Holmes? Could probably throw Hemsworth in there with Thor as well.

If they really do a "Silence of the Lambs" type situation where Joker is behind bars being questioned in the Hannibal Lector role and ends up playing them all at the end, then I'll fanboy the fuck out. It really feels like they are going with both a Batman and Joker more based on the comics than reality, which is necessary for those characters to not seem out of depth among god-like beings.

I loved Nolan's Batman, but, due to Nolan wanting to ground his series in reality, he pales against the capabilities of comics Batman in about every way. I'm not saying go full Morrison level Batgod, but you have to sell him as a viable opponent to Supes until they inevitably team up.

Just got back from the teaser in IMAX. It was great. The new clip was at the end of the credits. Batman and Superman do the old face off and run at each other and it ends right before they hit each other. I got the two posters and a ticket for a special screening of the movie a week before it comes out. It was worth it.

The fact that you think RDJ was at any time in his career on the same plain as an actor as Ben Affleck or Chris fucking Hemsworth is just frightening. RDJ was always looked at as someone who had tons of talent and charisma, but he just fucked his career up offscreen. Affleck has never been considered a good actor at all and until his renaissance as a director was a joke in Hollywood. Hemsworth has done well as Thor, though, but I don't think anyone considers him to be a particularly good actor otherwise.

RDJ has been one of the best actors of his generation for a long time before Iron Man. Affleck has never been anywhere near the same stratosphere as RDJ when it comes to acting talent and range, regardless of their individual career trajectories.

Yeah, you don't need to be Brando maybe to do Batman, but Affleck fucking sucks as an actor. As someone else mentioned, casting a stiff like Affleck after having a super talented actor like Bale man the batsuit was just fucking stupid. It is Snyder, though, so it's not like there will be a premium put on acting or tone like the Nolan trilogy.

Affleck has killed in his recent movies. The Town, Argo, Gone Girl, were all really good. What did RDJ have pre jail stint. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang? I really can't remember. Never heard of Hemsworth before Thor either.

Affleck has been in some good movies lately, but I can't think of a single role he has ever "killed". RDJ "killed" it in movies like Chaplin. Less Than Zero and Natural Born Killers 15 years before Iron Man. If you think Affleck can scratch RDJ's nuts as an actor, then I don't know what the fuck to tell you. They both have had career ups and downs for different reasons.

Affleck in The Town, Argo and Gone Girl is legit. I'll give RDJ Natural Born Killers and A Scanner Darkly as far as recent but he wasn't ever looked at as an action hero and just surprised everyone as Iron Man. Same as Ledger as Joker

I didn't realize the President of the RDJ Fan Club was a TMB member.

I'm not even sure where all this anger is coming from. Acting chops weren't really brought up, and it's certainly a valid point RDJ and Affleck have had similar 'type" careers. Both had a lot of success early, then faded from the scene for a while (for different reasons), and have come back very strong the past couple of years.

Not sure if I aree with Helmsworth. He was virtually unknown when he was cast as Thor.

RDJ has been money in just about every role. Difference between him and Affleck: I can't think of two movies that RDJ didn't give a great performance.

But I can rattle off half a dozen Ben Affleck crap performances.

Chaplin is one of my favorite movies too. So underrated. But then again, I love Charlie Chaplin movies.

I honestly can't believe there is anyone anywhere that would put the two of them in the same universe in terms of talent. RDJ has always had tons of charisma. His career was only upset by him becoming a dope fiend. I don't know if these guys are like 12 or something and just don't understand what RDJ was like before Iron Man. He was considered to have crazy talent that was undermined by him being plain crazy as far as career stability went.

Has anyone ever pointed to a movie and said that Ben Affleck was great or tore up the screen? No, but as you said, there have been plenty of movies where he got laughed out the theater for being terrible. He had to direct himself back into movies to get roles. RDJ just couldn't get studios to greenlight him because they literally couldn't insure him.

Do me a favor and google "RDJ actor of his generation" and see what shit pops up. Granted, these are just opinions like yours and mine, but there's a pretty solid consensus from what I would consider to be legit entertainment sources:

    bio.com
By this time, the 27-year-old Downey had come to be seen as one of the most gifted actors of his generation, but he had also earned a reputation as a troubled and controversial figure in Hollywood.

    nytimes
Hailed by many critics as one of the most brilliant and versatile actors of his generation, Robert Downey Jr. chalked up a formidable onscreen track record that quickly launched the young thesp into the stratosphere.

    GQ
For years, whenever Downey appeared on TV, he was routinely introduced as "one of the greatest actors of his generation."

    Rolling Stone
Hardass, flake, superstar: The greatest actor of his generation is anything you want him to be - and an Iron Man, too.

    Moviefone
Of course, Downey is the best actor of his generation

Quotes from a Washington Post story on him
Billy Bob Thornton: Without question, he’ll be remembered as one of the best actors of his generation
Robert Altman: There isn’t a better actor in America.

Pretty much common knowledge when it comes to RDJ and acting ability...:idk:

Then if you really want to see some shit...google "Ben Affleck terrible/bad/awful actor" and see the millions of hits you come back with there.

I understand if you worship at th alter of RDJ. However, I tend to wait until I see the actual actor's performance before I decide how terrible the casting. You can certainly choose to roll your eyes at some of Affleck's performances, but no objective person can say he hasn't punched out some really great roles. I mean, I was incredibly skeptical with the Ledger announcement. He absolutely destroyed any hesitancy I should have had. I tend to edge toward caution nowadays, and I like what I am seeing of Batfleck.

Snyder has been very hit or miss with casting (Watchmen is a perfect example). That being said, I'm giving Affleck the benefit of the doubt. He's a MASSIVE batman fan and has gained some respect for me as an actor of late.

But I won't deny this casting is partially due to investing in Affleck as a filmmaker. I'm sure part of the deal was he gets to do a few pet projects he has in the pipeline.

Watchmen is a perfect example of what Zack Snyder can do. That cast was perfect...except for the villain. One of the three most pivotal roles in the story (along with Dr. Manhattan and Rorschach), especially since his villainy is supposed to be a surprise until late in the movie, and the guy he cast was a dud.

People hate on him a bit too much though. He's not Bret Ratner, who does one little thing right and then ten thousand things wrong. Snyder does one or two things wrong and then several things right. He's got a very divisive visual style, but I think it will lend itself well to Batman in this movie. It will help differentiate it from Nolan's movies.

the trailer for the Batman vs Superman movie did absolutely nothing for me, but I think it has to do with seeing TFA trailer a couple of days before this. I'll still go see this movie though. I'll judge Affleck's as Batman/Bruce Wayne after I see the movie.

Affleck is a better at directing movies than he ever was acting in them imo.

Sorry guys. I just hate Ben Affleck as an actor. I love Batman, so it sucks for me that I'm stuck with him for X amount of movies now. Otherwise I would have been interested to see how the DC movies turn out. I'm sure you all have particular actors like Keanu or Affleck whom you realize are terrible 90% of the time.

I'm not the biggest RDJ fan by the way. I just recognize his talent, and it is clear that some people ITT had no idea of what he was before IM. Comparing him to Affleck in any way is stupid.

Sometimes you just have to let the hate flow. Sorry to piss on anyone else's parade.

I don't worry about Ben Affleck at all. There's not any movie I can think of where he just sucked or was responsible for it sucking and Batman/Bruce Wayne doesn't really require a lot of range to play as much as it does timing and how a line is delivered, which Affleck is fine at.

Now one casting decision that I do think is horrible is Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. I just don't see it.
