Not yet. I'm trying to figure out the problem before I band aid it. Something in my grip or swing isn't right if I'm repeatedly getting it, even after I let it heal.
I use the hell out of super glue when I go backpacking. Big fan. But like I said I want to find the glitch.
Had my first non-scramble round of the year yesterday. Shot 80 with 2 2-chips 3 3-putts and a 3 chip Wonder what I need to work on.
I had an identical issue for several years. I always just taped it and dealt with it but I recently strengthened my grip (it was previously quite weak) and have had no issues since.
Kinda afraid you're right. I've been using a weak grip to help my swing. It really helps me transition my weight and to avoid swinging like a baseball player.
I'm terrible. Just ask Jigga and Gritzy. I don't think I've ever 3 chipped. to get on the green. Flubbed a pitch then had to chip, sure. 2 chips, yup. I don't even know how you go about 3 chipping. Fire it over the green twice?
I'd say my most likely scenario would be a chili dip followed by a frustration skull across the green.
I once knew a guy that said he didn't practice chipping because that was telling himself he was going to miss the green
A Jordan spieth-esque forward press before starting short game shots has been a big help for me lately.
That just makes your margin for error really small IMO. I have more success using the bounce, gives a little wiggle room (success is a relative term obviously)
Finally put a left handed club in my kids hand yesterday. He still wants to flip it over as if he's using a righty so I just let him hit balls with the upside down right handed one
I've chunked two in a row before on several occasions. It's not impossible to do. I consider my short game pretty good.
He took a full size 6 iron and got pretty close to parallel yesterday and made contact with the club upside down
Well I was trying to hit a flop about 20 yards and only had a few feet between a bunker and the pin. Went under it twice, left the first one short, second one in the bunker, third shot on.
Well then, that's completely different, imo. Those are at least two different shots, and none of the 3 I would consider a chip shot. I'll stop being a cunt about terminology now.
I bailed out of the Bruce Jenner thread so I figured I would share this here: Friend of my wife's works at his country club and he is going by the name Belinda (I think that has been reported) and has been playing a lot of golf. I asked my wife to ask if he was playing for the ladies or the mens tees at this point. She thought that was insensitive ("don't be an asshole"). Thoughts? If 6'2 Belinda Jenner rolls up to the first tee are you good with her playing from the reds?
I get the reference and I chuckled but in seriousness, I don't consider that chipping. Those are bunker shots.
Won a scramble a couple weeks ago with some buddies that are much better golfers than I am. We were -10 through 14 when they called it because of weather. I expected to just be there to take the first putt, but I birdied a par-3 on my own and we used probably 8-10 of my shots that weren't putts, which felt really good. Scrambles are great for players like me that are inconsistent, but can pull off good shots every once in a while. I'd like to try to start getting in more range time over the summer once work slows down, but I'd also like to upgrade some of my clubs. Irons: Callaway X-18s Driver: Taylormade R7 Wedge: 56* Cleveland I think my irons are fine considering the amount of golf I play and I'm pretty decent with the short ones. I want to upgrade my driver and my wedge(s). My driver is just dated and I'm just ready to try something else. I am absolute garbage with that wedge, partly because I use it for everything 40-100 yards out and I need to fill that gap, and partly because I just hate the club. What's a good newer driver model for someone that gets out a couple times a month at most? What wedges should I have in my bag? And is there such a thing as a more forgiving wedge? Any recs are appreciated. Gracias in advance.
Anyone watch the US Open preview on FS1 last night? Chambers Bay looks pretty sweet. Dont know what I'm going to think about Fox coverage.
Chambers Bay features long, ribbon tee grounds that aren't always flat. USGA announced they plan on using the non-flat portions. That should go over well...
I deal with retarded uneven teeboxes all the time. I'm kinda glad I get to see how they deal with it.
I play a country club for most of my rounds now. It's funny how much better I score than the shit tracks I used to play. Fewer penalty strokes when I hit into the woods because I always find my ball and generally have a shot out of trouble. Plus the lies in the fairways aren't hardpan. Makes a difference.
