Tiger Woods @TigerWoods · 40m40 minutes ago See you at the US Open, Open Champ, Memorial, Greenbrier and my Foundation’s event, the Quicken Loans National. Going to be a busy summer.
I think he just posted his schedule til the end of July... I'm sure he will play bridgestone too considering how much success he's had there, but maybe he won't want to play 3 weeks in a row with quicken loans-bridgestone-PGA being one after the other?
OK guys, looking for a little help. I am a, how do you say? Bad golfer, but I enjoy it and want to improve. My current clubs are one of those out of the box sets you get and Dick's for a few hundred bucks then I got in college just so I had some. I am ready to step up from that, but, until I get a little better/ play more consistently I can't fathom spending more than a few hundred bucks. So, my question is; is there a used iron set and driver/wood combo I should start looking for on ebay that would give me the feel of a better club with out dropping 1k right now? OR is the individual aspect of club fitting etc. necessary to make any improvement over my current sticks?
Use what you have. Get better. Then make the investment. Just my opinion. I had a knockoff set for years until I could make the leap and I honestly wish I had waited more and done more research. After you get a consistent swing get fitted for something you love and you'll never look back.
When you guys watch the U.S. open remember this. On Sunday They will probably put the pin on the back portion of 16 which is just stupid narrow with trouble on both sides. It's probably 10 paces max in width. Ultimate risk reward pin.
For real. Spend the money you have on some lessons, range time, and some rounds. It's too hard to judge how clubs really feel if you don't have a fairly consistent swing. If you can start playing OK with some out-of-the-box clubs, then when you step up to something better, you should really be able to tell a difference.
How long have you been playing? How often do you practice? If you are playing a practicing a lot and still struggling a fitting can help. If you are just now getting into it, wait a while because you don't want to get fit for beginner/bad habits that you are going to break through practice. Before you get fit you want to be consistently striking the center of the clubface. Doesn't matter if you hit a big hook or slice... just need to be making contact. *In general fittings improve distance and consistency... they don't turn bad into good.
It's remarkable how well I play on nice courses, especially flat ones. Most courses in New England are very hilly with few flat lies. Put me on a manicured Florida course and I almost always play belows handicap
I have it on TV and they said Bubba to save par here and stay 5 back (I thought) and I think they said 5 ahead. I got excited thinking Bubba was losing.
I haven't but one of my regular playing partners does and he's never had any complaints. It seems easy enough and his always works.
Playing in a work league and had my first match last night. The rounds I played to get my handicap were pretty horrible, so I was getting 7 strokes from the guy I played as he was the other team's lowest handicap. Didn't need any of those strokes as I beat him straight up with a 41 vs his 46. Par-birdie-birdie start had me feeling pretty comfortable and I ended up giving away what could've been a pretty good score. Looking forward to playing somewhat competitive golf in this league
Got a pair of the Adidas Mens Tour360 ATV for $49.99 Older pair, but widely considered one of Adidas best golf shoes ever so we will see. Always preferred Adidas golf shoes over Nike (which were my last ones and they sucked ass).
Lydia Ko just tried to hit a flop shot over a tree and it landed in the limbs..kinda wacky ordeal going on to ID the ball/take an unplayable.
So I'm hitting the ball pretty straight (slight draw) off the tee but it's all going left even with the draw (I'm a lefty) is this an alignment problem or could I possibly be blocking it out while still hitting a draw?
You're either pushing it or your alignment is off. The alignment issue is a much quicker/easier fix so try to fix that first.
only $67 w/ a SF resident card. but the normal course is layout is completely different than this setup. #15 is usually #1, #1 is usually #10, etc. usual course layout: http://www.mappery.com/maps/Harding-Park-Golf-Course-Map.png
Love golf events in the bay area, Olympic Club US Open was fun to watch and this course looks great too. Some seriously lush rough out there. Too many courses don't punish golfers enough for missing the fairway, this one seems to. I wasn't a big fan of Dove Mountain so it will be interesting to see where they go in the future for the match play event. Way more short putt misses on this course than usual it seems.
Went and golfed 9 yesterday with my dad and my brother. My brother sank an eagle from 150 out on a par 4, after his shot was redirected by a branch. We looked for the ball for about 10 minutes before realizing it was in the cup. Lucky bastard.
Golf what is probably 1 of top 2 or 3 public courses in Portland Metro yesterday. Our 4 some let 2 guys play through on hole 3 and it turned out to be Rick Adelman. He was pretty grumpy.
I haven't been working the ball right to left very long so it's still pretty jarring to see the snap hook pop up..after spending years on the right side of the golf course I figured I'd go see the sights on the other half.
Stephanie Wei had her credential revoked for the rest of the season by the PGA for using periscope. https://twitter.com/StephanieWei/status/593880425145061376 Seems a little harsh but it was pretty obvious she couldn't do what she did. My guess is the PGA has been looking to get rid of her.
This is why I think they were looking to get rid of her: https://storify.com/wrightscribe/golf-writer-stephanie-wei
