For some reason I thought this was the series premiere tonight. Turned it off 5 minutes in when I found out it was season 2 because I didn't want to spoil anything. Is season 1 good? Worth watching?
I hate that motherfucker based on his face alone, but he really does a great job with that role. That scene at the end was awesome. Really love Burn Gorman. He was awesome in GoT, too.
Season 1 is great. Really gets into the inner workings of the spy ring both sides had during the war. Really interested to see the transformation of Benedict Arnold this season. His introduction last episode was badass
Had wanted to watch this but missed the first airing of the first season. Just binged through it on Netflix and have been watching the second season as it airs. Really enjoying the show.
So many great Brits on the show: Hewlett, Andre, Simcoe. Rogers is awesome, too (I know he's Scottish). Really enjoy kind of soaking up the time period ambience of this show. I don't put it up with shows like GoT, Mad Men, Hannibal, etc. in terms of overall quality, but I really like it.
The father is worried about the son being put in harm's way, so he used a former criminal that he had once prosecuted to act as a spy following the son around New York. The son got pissed because the criminal wound up dying, but then the son ultimately covered for the father by giving him an easy explanation for how the guy wound up dead in New York while giving his report to Major Hewlett. That house where they live is fucking awesome. The fall colors right on the water is hard to beat.
Yeah, I hate Simcoe by comparison, but watching Simcoe do his thing is still awesome. And Major John Andre definitely doesn't love them hoes.
Could not put a face to the character you guys were talking about. So I googled the Shippen and figured it out, but I started looking more into the historical Shippen and learned more than I wanted. Figured out where they are headed with this. Real life Shippen is ugly.
Yeah, I fucked up and spent like 6 hours on Wikipedia reading about everyone. Really kinda spoiled a lot of it for me.
That was a great episode. For those worried about spoiling things for themselves by reading up on the characters, it appears that last night was a pretty big deviation. I loved the dude screaming "I'LL LET YOU LIVE TO REGRET IT, GEORGE! YOU'LL LIVE TO REGRET IT!". That dude is so awesome.
He is either clumsy as fuck or was trying to get busted by those redcoats though, his note leaving game leaves a lot to be desired. He should have just said that bum he woke up tried to mug him when they questioned what he was doing. One thing I was wondering was why doesn't he just have that dude in NY's dad gather intelligence for him? He seemed like he was down for the cause, more so than his whining bitch of a son.
Simcoe be playing with bitches minds, great villain. Don't know if I could have turned down that bomb puss puss. John Andre is that dude, almost feel bad for what is going to happen to him.
Andre is such a boss. And I remain torn on Simcoe...on the one hand I hate him, but on the other I respect his ability to make me hate him. Dude is a great villain. Just hope he doesn't actually get to Hewlett first. I guess I pretty much like all of the bad guys on here.
Gave up on this show last year and gave it another shot. Really love it now. Just now caught up. Simcoe is such a great bad guy. Last episode was the worst so far. Always hate when characters have delusional breakdowns that give them clarity. Been a few historical inaccuracies but have been pretty good for the most part.
Yeah, the whole Washington shit was pretty fucking bad. The Simcoe stuff was great again. Glad he at least got stabbed, but can't see any way they let my dude make it back to town alive. On the other hand, it appears that would be the only way that Abe would get cleared, so maybe he will.
Hewlitt is turning into a boss, too. Love that dude so much. I admit i don't know the actual history, so excited to see what Rogers does now.
I am very interested to see what he does as well now that he has been betrayed by the very person and empire he has dedicated his life to.
well, from what I have read about him.... He was no longer in action after this due to health reasons. nothing about a turn or anything. We will see what they do with him.
I was referring to Hewlett, not Rogers. Rogers was real and as nasty as he is on the show. US had some motherfuckers like that too. The Patriot was a neutered version of it.
