even on good rave drugs 3 days straight is too much... got to have one day where it's normal music with actual bands. I can do ~5-6 DJ shows per festival

Hangout on the camp grounds. Also, probably why you'd dig CounterPoint because you can switch between jam bands and EDM.

True. You probably notice the intricacies of the different djs and genres, but at lot of electro-DJ stuff sounds the same to me. Maybe I'm being ignorant or don't have the ear for it, but I just can't differentiate.

    Made the top 22 list.

Kind of sad to see Paradiso not on the list considering their lineup is fucking insane.

trying to sandwich FJM between Adventure Club and Skrillex was a bad idea. Plus the party favors that day had me all about that untsss untsss. I think I only really stayed for 1-2 songs because that Palladia stage was so cramped I couldn't get within 50 yards of the stage.

FJM was fantastic at Hangout. Though if you were stuck in the back I guess that sucks. But that was the second time I've seen him and both were excellent, imo.

heavy dubstep like skirllex excision etc is the epotime of shit music that one has to be on drugs to enjoy. Shit needs to go away with a quickness

    IYO.

IMO, Excision is different than Skrillex, but I am not heavily into either one. Just heard a few Excision songs (mainly Sleepless) that I liked and had a friend who went bring up Excision.

I enjoyed Skrillex' set at Hangout quite a bit, thank you very much.

His transitions were seamless and had a lot of different samples that were awesome. Lion King and Jump Around were quite awesome to jump around to on the beach. And no, I wasn't on anything other than alcohol/weed for that performance.

I wasn't on drugs, but still liked Knife Party and Zed's Dead this weekend. Thought it kicked complete ass tbh. However, I can not listen to that shit for too long unless it's live.

I prefer to take the shunning approach to those that like skrillex and the like. I think they along with festivals like ultra music festival give electronic music a bad name.
Juiced up dudes in neon green wearing hats that say SLUT ruin it for everyone.

Never been to ULTRA Miami (likely never would) but I did go to ULTRA Europe before the first night of The Yacht Week last year.

Saw like 5-6 of the biggest DJ's in the game going and I honestly have no idea who it was that I saw unless I looked it up. I know one was Hardwell, but don't remember the others exactly.

The setting of the festival was awesome but that's mainly due to the fact that I was in Split, Croatia in the a soccer stadium with people from all over. Full moon setting behind the stage along with the lights, fire, fireworks, and general vibe of the stadium is what made it awesome. Any monkey could've gone up there and hit play. Wouldn't have mattered.

It was still awesome. That said, I did it for 1 night. Don't think I needed to do more than 1 night of it.

The "shunning" isn't going to work as anyone can play the same card that you did in this very same thread and basically say "to each their own".

You're not wrong, but they're not exclusive to electronic music. These fags have been infiltrating and ruining festivals for the better part of a decade.

I remember being appalled at the number of these types going back to Roo 08.

Tell me the next festival you are going to and I can rank the electronic artists for you in terms of quality and what to expect out of the live show. Some are better studio producers than live show producers. I have spent the better part of 8 years digesting and cataloging electronic music. There are very few artists I have not heard of. Needless to say, it was an obsession for quite some time that has subsided for the better part, but that knowledge does not leave you.

Shyyyyt, all I said was that objectively a festival that features an all electronic lineup can't be considered the best featival.

That and I couldn't do three days of electronic based music and would probably need drugs to help me enjoy it more....

If that causes you to become uppity.....lo ciento.

This conversation seems like an oxymoron to me... Isn't the whole point of festivals to just not give a flying fuck about anything and having a good time? Aka the polar opposite of hate and judgement? Then people judge others who are ruining festivals and changing that culture? Am I reading this right? :idk: Take a step back imo.

Who gives a shit what other people do or how they dress? I feel like half the hate is based off of myths, hearsay, and having a general disposition of hate/negativity. Funny considering the entire mantra of all of this.

There have been morons at festivals dating back to fucking Woodstock.

People watching is one of my favorite things to do. One of the reasons I like the Hangout is because most people don't camp, they stay in condo's or whatever on the beach. So, for the most part they appear to groomed and somewhat clean.

I give zero shits about what people are doing at the fest as long as they aren't including me in whatever douchy behavior they're participating in.

fell in love with about 27 sexy female ravers at HMF. they are okay by me. and they're very quick to ditch the scrawny emo snapback kids they're with and grind with a well groomed individual who looks like they lift heavy things at the gym

I avoided the Greek scene in college, not because individually they are bad people, but in groups are some of the most meat headed, loud, drunk and obnoxious people on the earth.

I do not like these people coming to a summer fest because it's fashionable or faddy to see skrillex or another crappy push-play DJ playing the same set as every other push-play dj.

Sorry if that makes me judgemental, but fuck faddy music and the simpletons it brings with it.

Just seems so anecdotal, to me. For example, I didn't see a single example of people being like you say at CounterPoint. I saw people dressed a certain way, sure, but that was the extent of how much they affected me.

When it comes to being wayyy too fucked up, I saw folks from literally every "group" represented.

I will say, Skrillex could have been doing absolutely nothing on stage when he was hitting buttons and what not but if that's the case, his timing was perfect because every time he'd twist a knob, something would happen.

I've seen about 20 different "electronic" shows and his stood out to me as it seemed like he was actually doing something up there other than pretending.

That said, he has the bitchiest voice ever. I guess that makes sense because of how tiny he appears to be.

It's because he actually mixes versus most DJs who use a laptop

He used to use a laptop with that stupid Serato trigger but everyone gave him shit so he changed
