It wouldn't be entirely different if you paid attention at all to context. But it's clear you can't do that. And that's why you need Stannis to be evil, so it's digestible to you.
I never said he was evil, and I don't need him to be anything I'm sorry you fail to see his character flaws thankfully the show creators with Martin's approval (you know the actually writer of the book) are in charge of his portrayal and not you. The only person failing to see his true context is you it seems.
Stannis got Davos out of town to run that "errand" because there is no fucking way in hell he would have gone along with that bullshit. I am looking forward to him raising hell when he returns and finds out what Stannis has done. Davos was more of a father to Shireen than Stannis ever was. Davos is the kind of character who will speak his mind regardless if it may cost him his life. I see no way he can follow Stannis after this. He loved that girl.
How am I overlooking his character flaws by thinking that in his mind he's doing it for the realm? He's clearly wrong and that's the tragic aspect. That's a character flaw. That's he's so wrapped up in what he's doing he hasn't stopped to think of what if he's wrong. I don't see how the show creators or Martin are relevant in this context. I'm not saying anything they haven't shown.
Let's just all agree that Mel must have that bomb puss puss to get a man to think burning his daughter is the sensible play.
Right but I don't believe he is doing it for the realm, if the red priest were to tell him that he is not the rightful king do you really believe he would be like oh okay I guess I'll just stop fighting for it then?...no he wants the crown and is willing to do anything for it I don't buy that he is doing this for the good of the realm. The only reason he gives a shit about that religion is because it supposed to benefit him otherwise he wouldn't care just like he doesn't care about saving the realm.
He was banned from the old show threads, I can't ban him from the new one, would have to be GoodForAnother or Taques As far as I know he isn't currently spoiling anything, just being a shitty poster as per usual
Yeah they cut to him twice I think and it looked like he knew something was up or had the look of I've seen her somewhere before.
iirc Stannis went North because Mel saw a vision of him winning a great battle in the snow. Basically he went there because of her vision that he would have some great victory there. I also believed she hinted that a much greater opponent was in the north, foreshadowing the white walkers.
This. I think he was about to ask for her, not that he recognized her. That was how I interpreted it.
1st bold: nvm already answered 2nd bold: You can't just say that... what did it always seem like his plans were? What's more ambitious than being the king of Westeros???
By that I meant to say that maybe he believed that he was the only person capable of combating the WW and winter, due to his faith, melisandre and destiny
I think he, davos, melisandre and anyone else that knows what's going on has said that every ruler everywhere is gonna have to join up and fight together
saying the same thing kinda. Unless I'm wrong, no one else is saying this out of the candidates jockeying for the iron throne. Stannis's crew seems to be aware of the impending doom and have mobilized to try to do something about it...that's serving a bigger purpose than just being the king
yea maybe just disagree with calling it an ambition. i just see it as him (really melisandre) having more awareness than the average idiot vying for the throne
Mormont sent those letters out to every lord in the 7 kingdoms. The only one that believed him was Stannis because he had Melisandre there to basically tell him that what is going on there is true. He's obviously really big on honor and he knew Mormont and Maester Aemon wouldn't just make that type of shit up. I don't think anyone else in Westeros is going to be able to help. None of the other lords took the letter seriously and don't care about the White Walkers anyways because 99% of the people there don't believe in them. As far as leaders go, Stannis is the only hope of any lord gathering a force to help the Night's Watch fight the WW's.
He killed Syrio (arya's reason for having him on the list IIRC) and is in general Cersei's little henchman in the Kingsguard
the more i think about the show and where it's heading, i feel dread. there's no way the good (men) vs. bad (white walkers/wights) battle can happen - and have the men victorious - in just two more books/seasons. i think the story is really how man and his greed and beliefs (kings toppled, fall of the dragon place) destroys the world (in that a united front is never presented against the white walkers). winter comes. everyone dies. the end.
sucks to be you Handcuffed I feel great about the show and where it's heading. But I do think it needs to go the 10 seasons
Ilyn Payne Joffrey Cersei Tywin The Hound Meryn Trant Roose Bolton Walder Frey .... As the Hound once said, "you're going to name everyone in the 7 kingdoms before you go to sleep?!" (or something like that)
Meryn, Roose, and Walder are the only ones left for her on the list. Cersei is alive, but in sparrow jail. Granted Arya could only know and mark off the Hound and Joffery at this point.
how many giants are left ? battle at the wall killed 2, wun wun is with jon... so there is just an undetermined number of them who didnt leave?
Yeah, some of them took off during the battle at the Wall last season. I'd assume there's more out there too that just never joined up with Mance as well. I think they live up in the mountains where no one can get to them, but I'm just guessing because I can't remember what they say about them in the legends they're mentioned in.
he did. IIRC did a slight double-take when they made eye contact. probably kinda sorta recognized her but you gotta think that was years ago and he's probably diddled a lot of little girls since then so he probably shouldn't even remember what she looks like. Hell they only saw each other for the short time she was in Kings Landing in season 1
That's interesting also. Giants are a very ancient race so I'm not sure if it works on them like that or not. I don't know the extent of the WW's power to turn things into wights. So far it only seems to be humans. They may not fuck with them.
Rewatching the episode right now and lol @ the one Harpy dude who thought it would be a good idea to come at Daenerys right after Drogon landed.
