used to love and have seen him 25+ times. I personally am not into as much as I used to be. He is here in Denver the next 3 nights and I'm not going to a single show. With that said, if you are a yungin I HIGHLY suggest going to check it out bceause the entire production is A+
I've seen him 7 times. Saw him twice at Red Rocks last May when I was still living in Colorado and then twice at Basslights this past December. I just got into him maybe 2 years ago, but I would agree that the older stuff sounds better than the new, even though I still like it and think seeing him live is awesome.
Spoiler Tipper ruined bassnectar for me. Tipper has taken me places psychedelically that bassnectar hasn't done since 09
Tipper is pretty sick. Havent seen him live yet. Got a couple of buddies that I go see Bassenctar with that go everywhere to see various artists. They are huge fans of Tipper, Feed Me, etc. Not sure if you are into Big G at all, I know you've probably seen them a lot since they are from out there, but I like them as well. Power is one sick ass song imo.
None taken. Like I said I love the song Power, but haven't really listened to much else other than being over at their place and hearing a few songs. I thought they were decent. They did mention that all of their sets pretty much sound the same though.
And Dominic is a flaming faggot piece of shit. When they came out(09ish) they were amazing, especially live. I'd honestly say some of my favorite shows of all time were early big g shows at the engine room in tally (rip) where they were playing their hearts out for a couple hundred ppl in a sweaty ass club. But now it's some of the most redundant, predictable, soulless music with a sax lead ever assembled. They pandered to the scene and now the sax is a glorified Flava Flav body ornament behind shitty dub step. I bet these faggots are still playing their mediocre remix of black and yellow by Wiz at their shows. Complete waste of talent.
My interaction with him (over Facebook....) had him yelling at me to 'bring my axe down to Gainesville and see what's up' and blocking me because I posted on their page after a show in 2011/12 that ive heard the same set for two years and that they needed to stop pandering to the scene. He then pm'd me and I was nothing but complimentary about their old stuff and their talent and basically said they're wasting all this ability on making pandering music. He was quite the faggot in that exchange
Suggest away. MMJ, MM, FAK, Houndmouth, St Paul are my musts. Feel like I should know CTE and Gaslight.
My list would probably be 1. Widespread Panic 2. Houndmouth 3. MMJ 4. St. Paul So since I don't need to school you on Houndmouth I'll just let you know that I saw them for the 5th time at Hangout a couple weeks ago and it might have been their best one. Love the energy, love Katie. Probably my favorite band right now. I'll add that I also saw MMJ there and they absolutely killed it as well. Jim James made sweet tender love to me and then was gone before I woke up. I know Panic/jambands aren't everyone's cup of tea. And I'll be the first to tell you that the set I saw in Orange Beach last Friday was average at best. But then they played two killer shows in a row, one at Counterpoint, the other at Summercamp. SO if you're even a little bit interested the festival sets have been good. You probably do know a little CTE and GA, and probably Portugal. the Man, as well. I'll spoiler a few songs you may have heard. I saw a little bit of all their sets at Bonnaroo, but not enough to give an educated opinion on any of the 3. I know I'd personally go to CTE and PtM Spoiler ^^That video is so fucking trippy, to me. Haven't seen Tweedy, but I know it's Jeff Tweedy (frontman of Wilco) and his son. I've seen Wilco 4 times and love them, but not sure what to expect from a Tweedy show. The one song I've heard on the radio I enjoyed. Spoiler Shovels & Rope and The Lone Bellow have both been blowing up over the past year and a half since I first heard of them. Haven't seen a show from either though. Had the opportunity at festivals but sometimes your schedule just falls apart. Spoiler Got to see Sturgill Simpson before Panic at Jazzfest about a month ago. I'm not a big country fan at all. But he's got such a classic sound, he's definitely worth checking out. I really enjoyed it. Spoiler Cherub. I'm not going to sit here and pump them up as some sort of genius band, but I'd be willing to bet their set will be a high energy/dance party situation if that's what you want and you've got space on your schedule. NSFW video with tits and dicks of the one song you might recognize. Spoiler The Word. I haven't gotten to see this, but something you'll probably regret if you don't check it out. Supergroup. John Medeski, Robert Randolf, and the guys from North Mississippi Allstars. I did get to see the Robert Randolf family band a couple months ago and that was great. Hope I can catch The Word sometime, regret not going to the Hangout pre-party they played at. But I'm dumb, learn from my mistake. Spoiler Last band I'll put in a word for is The Revivalists. I'll post the song you've probably heard, but saw them at Lockn last September and was a great show in the middle of the day, which is always a tough spot at a festival with the sun beating down. Spoiler Sorry for the novel. I'm sure once they put out the actual schedule you're going to have to some picking and choosing. Such is the nature of festivals. But it looks on the band by day section of the forecastle site that they spread things out pretty evenly across the weekend, so hopefully schedule casualties for you can be kept to a minimum. Clearly, I'm a big fan of the lineup.
Cherub puts on an awesome show Big G puts on an awesome show (even though they play the same shit they did when I saw them in '11) Saw both of them in May But cuntiness isn't really my thing soooo
Here is us under the interstate bridge during the rain on Sunday. Great venue except the sound can clash easy if you are at the back of the main stage
They moved FPSF to NRG parking lot where they have the Warped Tour. with all the flooding they say the park was under 35 ft of water at some point and they don't know if it would be dried out enough in time. Not sure how I feel about this yet. The grassy hill was nice but we never sat on it because we had fancy pants tickets and just stood around in that viewing area. I imagine that hill would be a disaster though. It rained last year for a bit and that thing turned into a giant slip and slide.
My buddy tried to get me to buy his extra VIP ticket to EDC and go with them. I really want to as they already have a house rented and shit and I'm sure it'd be amazing. But I'm not spending $700 on a ticket.
They posted it last night. People are pissed, but people who bitch on social media look for any excuse to bitch on social media.
Apparently where they have the Vans Warped tour. No clue. It's in the yellow lot. My gf messaged them about fancy pants area and they said it'll be the same as they would have been at the park.
Alright thanks. I'm not sure where that is exactly but I'll figure it out. I'll be in the fancy pants. I love that they have small music sets in there.
I mean it wasn't verbatim. They played their ~8-10 crowd favorites and then some random/new stuff. And it was 4 years inbetween me seeing them so it was great. I wouldn't suggest anyone see them several times in one tour or follow them etc. but if you're going to a festival and they're playing it's definitely worth checking out I don't really have an opinion on the whole wasted talent conversation though. Better showmanship than most DJs I've seen
If you've never seen em before ** And regards to the wasted talent aspect, Dom used to play in the Motet and is a fantastic sax player, but now he's a DJ playing ok electronic music.
Going to this shitty festival with some alright bands. I like Shovel & Rope, so that should be chill. THREE 4 THREE BABYYYY
They just posted how they're setting up all kinds of fake trees, shade and mist areas and how the main stage will be on a grassy area so it sounds like they're going to go all out.
Aaaah used to rock the hell out of Motet. I can see where you're coming from then. However being the main man at one of these DJ shows would be a serious rush I bet. Better as a side project kinda deal and still play in a real band tho
About to roll into Free Press with brolift and company. Whoopieeee! I'm on drugs and I took some alcohol.
Did the west woods treat ya ok? Did anything I said make any sense now? It's hard to try and explain to people.
Our spot was awesome. We made friends with our neighbors, to the point that they made us swear to keep in touch/try and meet up again at some point. On top of wanting to do Phases of the Moon in October, I definitely will be thinking about attending Waka again. But my god at that fucking hill. We enjoyed upper west woods, but that hike up the hill can suck the fattest of dicks.
Saw Savoy and Trippy Turtle live for the first time. Also Marty Kaan can scoff all he wants..Big Gigantic still throws the fuck down and this song is officially stuck in my head. The video board had dancing spacemen. So much yes.
