yea you're right I'm sure they're going to have Jon's consciousness walking around in a direwolf for a couple episodes this season. that makes sense, should play really well on television.
I'm not GRRM, so I couldn't predict why Jon being Ghost for a period of time might be crucial to the plot, but that's not to say such a scenario can't exist. Also, he could come back via the Night's King. I actually think the showrunners did a nice job of laying the options on the table leading up to the finale this season. Toward the end, they had a) Mel leave Stannis, b) the Night's King showing a keen interest in Jon at Hardhome, and c) Ghost (don't care, still leaving him on the table as an option). But I can see it's highly unpopular on this board to support showrunner decisions, so I don't expect my stance to be received well.
If you were alive this past season, you're story changed quite a bit. Cersei's seems to be the most on point imo
Spoiler since Tyrion is going to be taking over his role of running the city in the Queens' absence, I'll allow it Spoiler I don't know if that needed spoilered Spoiler but I did it anyway
Jon went to a place we've never been in the books and got a "come at me bro" from a character we've never met in the books and was stabbed to death for being a traitor by his made-up bitch ass squire. I mean the destination was the same, but his story being the most identical is quite a stretch.
Jon's scenes right now are pretty different. Seems like they've changed just about everything. Every scene with him is something new. Even the recent Sam and Jon oldtown talk was done completely differently than the book.
This really sounds like a focused individual and makes me confident we will see the next book very soon:
Probably posted at some point on the board, but I listened to this podcast the other day and its certainly relevant to the current plot. http://io9.com/5842798/george-rr-martin-talks-to-john-hodgman-about-killing-off-characters
The theory with Jon is that he is going to return as something more than he was in life... While Beric is just immediately revived from death, everyone tends to believe that there will be more to Jon's return... Or, that he will not even return as Jon at all but as a different person entirely (AA)... I think there is every possibility, though, with Martin that even the R+L theory can be true AND Jon remains dead...
So, kind of like Jon and coming back just wanting to stop the Others and not worried about the NW and Lord Commander shit?
Hey lets build up this big mystery over 5 books about Jon Snow's real mother just to kill him and reveal it when he's dead and that shit doesn't matter! Would be the worst decision in the history of literature
I guess that's one way to interpret it. No need to worry about the wall, just be the Lord of Light. Lame.
The NW murdered him, should have more loyalty to the wildlings than those scumbags. Even his gay Ned honor bullshit should be satisfied now.
What y'all don't know is that the vision Bran had is just the premonition of the brutal deaths of Sandor and Jaime, and AA Jon with red eyes and a red sword is gonna end up murking the Mountain.
I've been saying he would come back with red or blue eyes (probably red like Ghost's)... I would have such a nerd boner.
Doesn't matter. I think that interview with Martin kind of summed it up to me with how Beric only cares about his mission now. He's not the same person when he comes back and each time he losses more of himself. Jon may be gone and with that he may not care about that anymore. Those are soldiers AA will need to defeat the Others. Slit Ollie's throat and then tell them to get to work
There are several theories about this. If the Norse mythology story applies here per that one guy's theory then the Others are good guys. I don't think that applies but I don't think the Others are some strictly evil force out to dominate and conquer. They may be "bad guys" when it all comes down to it but I think we're going to learn why they're are doing what they're doing and it's likely going to be caused by some provocation by man or some treaty man broke. If the Others are pure evil I will be extremely disappointed in GRRM.
While I think the others could be "good" in the books, I don't know because they seem pretty damn evil in the show.
i think it would be beneficial to have something purely evil in the story not everything needs a redeeming quality
big difference in saying "maybe the Others aren't pure evil" and "the Others are the good guys". they're not the good guys. they slaughter villages, abduct babies and raise armies of the dead who attack as their slaves.
The thing for me that separates Jon being brought back vs Catelyn and Beric is his ability to chill in Ghosts body before the body is brought back. Jon may actually get to keep his more wolfish soul intact while zombie cat and Beric seem to just be fractions of who they were. I will
While I don't think they're objectively good, pretty much every army has done that minus the reanimating the dead. What I think is possible is they aren't evil they just see themselves as at war with humans.
What I'm assuming is at one time they had relations with the humans but over time those broke down. And now both sides just fight.
The others have never gone south of the wall, maybe they just don't like humans encroaching in their space....
