The title's name, not my accusation... http://io9.com/5924625/10-science-f...ve-read-and-why-you-should-actually-read-them
we are same, most of those I would like to read at some point though. That counts for something right?
I also have only read 1984 from that list but if I like Seveneves I'll definitely add Cryptonomicon and I have been planning to read Dune forever
Haven't read any of them. I have however read all of the "Stainless Steel Rat" series, which everyone should have read when they were younger.
No 'Book of the New Sun'. I'm pleased with this. I should get started on reading the other 8 on this list with Dune and 1984 being the only two entries that I've encountered and enjoyed.
I read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell this summer and really liked it. I've also read 1984. I'll never, ever read Infinite Jest.
I guess never say never, but everything I've heard about it tells me I'd hate it. I also think it'd be difficult to listen to with the made up words.
1984, Dune, Dhalgren, and Foundation Series here. I recommend them all, except maybe Dhalgren. It's a hard read.
Just based on the cover art alone, I'm going to have to check out Star Maker. I pretend to have read A Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but I've really only read up to the point that it started over. I'm sure the whole thing doesn't repeat, but I figured enough was enough.
How did anyone graduate high school and/or college and not read 1984? I had to read it three times in five years.
Has anyone ever read The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe? I wasn't sure where to ask so I figured this would be a good place. It's supposed to be one of the great works of the genre, but I haven't seen it discussed before and I was wondering if anyone had read it.
Has anyone read Childhood's End, by Arther C Clarke (wrote 2001 A Space Odyssey)? Syfy is doing a mini series on it, Im a nerd that likes to read source material first if it's good.
I've read Dune, 1984, and The Foundation. I've also read Snow Crash by the author of #1, Neal Stephenson, so my score is 3.5/10.
