Has there been any word when tickets go on sale again? Have a couple friends still looking to buy some that want to try that route before they go secondary market.

It's usually around Jan/Feb if I remember correctly. They generally announce like a couple days beforehand, should be a shitshow as usual. I've never heard of someone not being able to get a ticket through some avenue though. Tickets on secondary market usually peak right after regular sale then come back down to face a few weeks before the event.

The lineup will be released in early January and tickets will go on sale a few days later.

Others have pretty much covered this, but I'm bored at work this morning so a little more detail:

-Coachella lineup always comes out "when it's finished" and a lot of people believe that there are clauses/agreements for it always to be the first major festival to announce (i.e. multiple festivals announced the day after Coachella announced this year, meaning they were probably done and waiting for Coachella). There's never any warning or big announcement show like Bonnaroo, they just release the poster whenever they feel like it - sometimes it's in the day, sometimes it's at night. Every year is different - in 2013 when rumor had it a headliner backed out at the last minute to be replaced by RHCP, it came out at the end of January, this past year was one of the earliest releases ever (January 6th). Unclear if the early release will be a new trend or a one year anomaly.

-Ticket on-sale will be announced when the lineup drops and is almost always 3-5 days after lineup release.

-However, the majority of tickets are sold in the May pre-sale. Nobody knows the exact split, but last year, for example, for Weekend 1 the only General Admission tickets available were those sold with a shuttle pass, so you technically couldn't buy a non-bundled pass unless you bought it in the pre-sale. The year before, VIP was "sold out" during pre-sale until they released more an hour or two into the actual sale after everything else was sold out. No matter how many tickets are left, it will officially sell out (both weekends) within an hour or two, so you need to sign on right at 10 am PT when tickets are released and hope you get through the ticket waiting room.

-Secondary market ticket prices will skyrocket after on-sale pretty much no matter what the lineup is, but especially if the lineup is good (ironically "good" usually means "mainstream" so the headliners could be Talking Heads reunion, LCD Soundsystem reunion, and Roger Waters & David Gilmour and tickets would probably sell higher if the headliners were Lana Del Rey, Disclosure, and Beyonce).

-There usually is a pronounced dip in the "market" (Stubhub) prices in mid-March when they send out the physical tickets. Would highly recommend NOT going to secondary market until after tickets ship in mid-March if you can't get tix in the on-sale.

-If you or your friends are arriving in the LA area a day or two before the fest, I have yet to see a year where you could not get face value tickets via LA Craigslist the Thursday or Friday of Coachella in my four years in LA. People will overbuy, drop out at the last minute, or hold on to their passes too long thinking they can sell for a profit, and the bottom falls back out of the market. However, totally understand how it's an uncomfortable feeling waiting that long to buy passes and the risk of fakes, so not sure I would fully recommend this, but it's an option.

Guy online claims to have inside info and that the three headliners are booked -

Guns N Roses (reunion), LCD Soundsystem (reunion), Calvin Harris.

We'll see. I don't get why they'd book Calvin Harris so early though, or why he would headline.

Have a feeling it's all bullshit. Don't understand any possible reason for booking Calvin Harris again. He essentially headlined two years ago, his new album was panned (or at least I think so - I don't pay attention to him), don't understand how he's any bigger than two years ago, etc. Especially since I'd assume they could literally book him the day the lineup drops to fly out and press buttons in the desert, not sure why he'd be booked in September.

Similarly, last I read they thought it would be months before GnR got in the same room together - would be surprised if they'd already be booked.

Even LCD seems unlikely, but is the only one I believe, maybe because it's the only one I want to.

Headliner discussion 'cuz its Friday afternoon at work:

-LCD Soundsystem: Keeps going back and forth between people who are 100% certain they are playing and the LCD Soundsystem camp which is denying its happening. Would say that it looks possible/likely, though, based on all the smoke that's been going around from independent sources.

-Guns 'N Roses: If they really do reunite in 2016 as has been hinted, Coachella is the logical starting point, but I think it may be too soon (assume all 3 headliners are booked by now and these guys supposedly all just recently started talking to each other)

-Kendrick Lamar / Mumford & Sons: Both play the new fest in Florida in March, some think that eliminates them, some think that makes them more likely.

-Coldplay: Released a new single today and new album is coming end of the year. They didn't really tour the last release and a spring U.S. tour with Coachella and Europe summer tour with Glastonbury makes so much sense that I expect them there.

-Iron Maiden / David Gilmour: Dates around LA in March/April unfortunately eliminated them.

-Eminem: Lollapalooza Chile/Brazil usually share one headliner with Coachella; this year Eminem is the only one that would make sense. Would be a disappointing booking to me following seeing his performance at 'Roo '11.

-Pearl Jam / Foo Fighters: Foo Fighters are announcing something new in November. Rumors are Pearl Jam will tour the U.S. in the Spring. Both are long overdue at Coachella.

-Calvin Harris: Thankfully looks like the Inforoo poster posted bad info, but I wouldn't say we're completely out of the forest from this maybe happening.

-Rihanna / Adele / Beyonce: Rihanna looks unlikely after signing a contract with Samsung to promote her tour (so she'll probably play an LA arena instead of festivals). Adele supposedly has huge stage fright at festivals and Beyonce may be a year too late.

-Kanye / Radiohead: Kanye was a last minute replacement for Frank Ocean at Goldenvoice sponsored FYF Fest in LA; Radiohead supposedly back in the studio. Both have headlined Coachella in the last 5 years, though.

-Rolling Stones / David Bowie / Bruce Springsteen / Daft Punk: I can dream. Stones announced a South American tour in March, and as mentioned above, there's usually a strong correlation of acts playing South America in March and going up north to play Coachella (almost one headliner a year does this). David Bowie has a new album coming in January. Springsteen is releasing a commemorative box set for the 35 year anniversary of The River in December; rumors of a tour and new album in spring/summer. Some think "LCD Soundsystem" is an internal cover up for "Daft Punk" finally playing.

My gut says something like Pearl Jam / Coldplay / Kendrick Lamar now while my heart is hoping for something like The Rolling Stones / LCD Soundsystem / Anybody Whose Cheap (so they can pay the Stones). The fun part is that this time last year AC/DC and Drake weren't on anybody's radars (until they leaked in early December), so it could still be names not mentioned above.

Billboard is confirming Guns N Roses reunion and LCD Soundsystem reunion as two headliners (I'd take everything for a grain of salt until it's on the poster).

Supposedly GnR is getting somewhere close to $8m for the two shows. Excited for the reunion but hoping the rest of the lineup doesn't suffer as a result of the huge reunion paydays. Coming out on 1/5 per most rumors.

New York Times confirmed LCD and GnR through their own sources tonight.

Axel Rose to appear on Jimmy Kimmel on either 1/5 or 1/6 to promote the reunion, so a 1/5 or 1/6 lineup release looks guaranteed

Don't care. If they put on a great show, that would be amazing. If it's a meltdown, it would be funny. I would expect that he gets himself together, but, again, if he doesn't then I'll just laugh. Either way I'll be entertained. And if it is a complete disaster I can just leave and see someone else. I'm sure Slash and the rest of the band will be more than okay.

The big news for me though is that LCD seems like a certainty at this point. For the past few years I've been wishing for them to get back together and there's no other setting I'd rather see them in than a warm night in the desert. Thinking about it makes me so happy.

Yeah, he is claiming that Calvin Harris is the last headliner and Lana Del Rey is either a co-headliner or first sub-headliner but will play before him on the main stage.

I'm hoping he's dead wrong but looking unlikely at this point.

From most of the confirmed / near confirmed acts out there though (GnR, LCD, M83, Sufjan, Beach House, etc.) I'm going to be pretty happy with the lineup either way.

That's a hard question to answer. It will be 3-4 days of music, booze and drugs (if you choose), 90,000+ people, and high temperatures. The music is the centerpiece, though. You'll have 180ish acts playing on 6 different stages over a 3 day period. There will be music from almost every genre... everything from indie to edm to probably even a little bit of folk or country music. A lot, but not all, of the people there will either be drunk or high or both. It's in the desert so it can also get really hot (95+ degrees and not a lot of shade). Most people understandably don't wear much clothing. The overall experience, though, is hard to put in to words.

Which weekend are you going and are you camping or getting a hotel?

There will be a bunch of pretty cool art installations. There's a craft beer area (with dozens of craft beer) along with larger beer garden areas (where they only sell Heineken). My only big problem with Coachella is that they restrict you to those areas if you're drinking open containers so you can't buy a craft beer and take it wherever you want. This is easily bypassed by sneaking in a flask of whatever you want, but once the flask is empty you have to leave the festival to get a refill.

That's what it looks like. Have your friends gone before?

My major advice is basically just to take care of your body. 3 days of walking around, dancing, and partying will take its toll. So drink plenty of water, make sure you eat enough, wear sunscreen, and wear comfy shoes. All of that sounds pretty simple but you end up having such a good time that you forget about taking care of yourself. A camelback or equivalent is pretty awesome to have since they have free water refill stations and you can just walk around with your water supply on your back. Also bring a handkerchief or something else to keep dust and sand out of your eyes/nose/mouth since it is not uncommon for there to be a dust storm. For this same reason also make sure you roll the windows up in your vehicle.

LCD got a multimillion dollar offer from AEG (festival organizers) to headline coachella, FYF and panorama, a new fest based in NYC. that may not happen now since AEG couldn't get the proper zoning permits, so LCD is planning on playing a headline show somewhere in the city this year

Fantastic lineup. As usual I'm most excited about the midcard/lowcarders that I've discovered in the last couple of years. Sunday looks particularly tasty with Major Lazer, Chris Stapleton, Nathaniel Rateliff, Hudson Mohawke, Kamasi Washington, and Maceoplex.

I went back in 2013 and it was one of the best weekends of my life.

Major Lazer was about the most insane thing I have ever seen. Don't miss that for any reason. None.

Purity Ring has become a favorite. I've seen them live 4 times and their show is phenomenal.

Grimes puts on a good show. Fun music. RL Grime and Mr. Carjack will rage the sahara (EDM) tent. That will be bonkers based on the looks of this lineup.

I'm going to ask the wife if we can swing it this year...doubtful with 18 month old twins.
