Two episodes in and I love this show as well. I had Netflix a few years ago then got rid of it. When I finally got a smart TV a few months ago it made having and viewing Netflix so much easier. Side note I watched the documentary "Red Obsession" last night and I highly recommend it.
i'm two episodes in as well. it's pretty good. the trope of pablo just staring at people who displease him is getting old.
just started to watch it. Clicked on the netflix and got this error: this title cannot be played because it exceeds the maximum maturity rating set in your parental controls. fuck. Forgot my wife did this. Standard overreaction to my son (who was 5 at the time) stumbling upon a lesbian scene and said the ladies were "playing butts."
created my own profile and binge watched all ten episodes. Great show However, wife is up in arms that I was able to access stuff that exceeds rated R material. Pretty much accused me of tampering with her settings, and now she has some really choice words for the people at netflix. My solution: "kids, don't ever click on daddy's profile. I can tell if you do it." They believe it. They are in line.
I hope they dont make it too long just becasue of the success of the show. Enjoying it inmensly but the story as a whole has like 1 more 10 episode season in it before its done. Dont want it to feel like the last 2 episodes of a few seasons of 24 where they were just stretching out the storyline to get to the 24 episodes
You do realize you can set a password to use your profile right? I mean, that's what teh administrator function is for...
My wife is not technically inclined. She is a destroyer of all things with a remote sense of complexity. She is woman. I have several laptops (all in excellent working order). One of them is 7 years old. I bought two at the same time and gave one to her. I've bought a few more for her since then. All of them are broken. It's caused her great angst over the years my refusal to allow her to touch my shit. 3 Ipads broken since then. She's taken to using my daughter's ipad mini. 3 iphones broken. I allow the netflix situation.
Theme song's bad ass If you’ve been bingeing new NetflixOriginal drama Narcos all weekend, chances are you’ve been grooving along to the series’ captivating theme music. Whether or not you speak fluent Spanish, the story behind the enthralling opener goes a little deeper than your average introductory credits. “Tuyo,” or, “Yours,” was composed specifically for the series by Rodrigo Amarante, a member of the band Little Joy (the same Little Joy to which Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes belongs). NPR, who must be just as obsessed as we are, did some detective work of their own regarding “Tuyo,” and discovered that when writing the song, Amarante was inspired by the thought of what Pablo Escobar’s mother would have listened to while raising her ambitious young son who would go on to be an infamous drug kingpin. The melody reminds us of a romantic serenade, and thanks to Decider’s Spanish-speaking amiga Melissa Aquiles and her intuitive sense of dialects (Amarante is Brazilian so not everything translates to the Spanish you may have learned in grade school), we were able to get a sense of the surprisingly dark theme Narcos has laid before us thanks to her English translation of “Tuyo”: I am the fire that burns your skin, Soy el fuego que arde tu piel I am the water that kills your thirst. soy el agua que mata tu sed. Of the castle, I am the tower, El castillo, la torre yo soy the sword that guards the treasure. la espada que guarda el caudal. You, the air that I breathe, tu el aire que respiro yo and the light of the moon on the sea. y la luz de la luna en el mar. The throat that longs to be choked La garganta que ansio mojar that I’m afraid I’ll drown in love. que temo ahogar de amor. And which desires you are going to give me. y cuales deseos me vas a dar just to look is treasure enough, mi tesoro basta con mirarlo, it will be yours, it will be yours. tuyo será, y tuyo será. The entire soundtrack, which is truly top-notch, delves just as deep into Escobar’s legend as the theme. Crafting the original score and theme along thenarcocorrido subgenre (a branch of music written for and about drug kingpins in Central and South America), Pedro Bromfman, who’s helped compile and compose for the likes of Elite Squad and 2014’s RoboCop remake, said in an interview that the work of Segio Leone and his Spaghetti Westerns helped inspire Narcos. “Colombia in the late 80’s and early 90’s reminded me of those towns you see in Westerns, dominated by a gang of outlaws. In those films, someone from out of town will usually come and help the locals defeat the bad guys. As people watch Narcos they’ll be able to see the parallels I drew, however in Colombia they had a much bigger and more complicated situation.”
Loved the show. I think the subtitles actually kept me engaged. Most shows I binge watch I end up only paying attn to half because I'm on my phone or some shit. I thought the timeline of events went by very fast and agree it seems like this only has one more season left.
Through seven episodes and it's great. Surprised they didnt go more into Carlos Lehder. He was a much bigger factor than they let on in the show.
Given the speed they went from the mid 70s to 91, this should have been a single season. not much left to the escobar story.
started watching this the other night and already on episode 7. Tremendous dont want to read any of this thread yet cause i dont want any spoilers, but what an awesome show
Binged this in a few days and loved it. I know Latin American politics pretty well, but had forgotten about La Citadel. That guy was a real son of a bitch getting that deal set up. I thought they did a good job showing his progression to a murderous thug who eventually didn't give a crap about the poor.
moxin this thread was on the top half of page 1, you blind dummy. Re your complaint - I think they can easily stretch out a full season of chasing him down.
If you guys liked this, then you'll probably enjoy the following book: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/infiltrator-robert-mazur/1100294125 Just finished it up about a week ago. Pretty awesome look into all the money laundering that went on back then.
Finished last night. Loved the season, but not sure how chasing Pablo next season for 10 episodes won't get stale unless there are some other story lines that they can integrate, like more of the Cali cartel and both cartels dealings in Miami and NYC
Just realized that Carlos the nazi/John Lennon guy arrested in episode 4 was the basis for Diego in blow.
4 episodes in already... Enjoying it.. With football all weekend trying to get through as much as possible today.
