I've always driven an SUV. Considering a truck for my next vehicle.

got an old 06 colorado z71. probably gonna replace it with a new daily driver before long, though I won't get rid of it because the single cab compact truck utility game ridiculous.

Have any of you tried Leather CPR on your leather seats? Have heard good reviews, but always like getting TMB input.

I've driven a Toyota since 2001, had a '98 tacoma 4x4- I love that truck. It is now our camp truck, and I wish I could take it home. Now have an '06 4x4 Tundra, have had it since...2008, and am starting to look into getting a new Tacoma in the next year or so. Really want 4 full doors.

Yup still make the Tacoma. I don't like the new bigger Tundras- which is why I bought the '06 (last year of old body style). The new Tacoma is almost exactly the same size as the old Tundra

That's right, forgot about the body size of the old Tundras. The new tundras are HUGE.

I also have the 06 tundra and I think the new ones are just too big. I'm not sure what route I'll go next. I want 4 doors but I don't want to drive a tank and don't know if I will think the new Tacoma is big enough. That would be great if the new Tacoma is really comparable to what I have now.

The new 4 cyl has 200 hp and the v-6 has 305. Probably fly wheel ratings, but the four has more hp than the old 5 and more torque. They're supposed to release a 2.8 liter turbo diesel soon. Interested to see how that's rated. Wonder where Chevy got the platform for the diesel. I didn't think they had one in that class

This thread is the first time I've ever heard anyone say anything bad about Nittos. Have had them on two different trucks and liked them a lot on both. Not sure what I'd go with if I were replacing them. Had BFG AllTerrains beforehand and thought they were solid as well.

I'm waiting for the small displacement Cummins to start filtering out into other light duty platforms. A Colorado with a Cummins would be a great starting point for big fun.

My roommate years ago had the new Tacoma, while I had the 06 Tundra- when we'd park next to each other my truck was literally only an inch or two longer. So very comparable in size, I think they have enough room inside. Not as much as the F150 or so, but those are huge now also

I dont have any pics, but I have a 2000 F-350 4dr with the 7.3L powerstroke in it.
Sitting right at 435,000 miles, and while its not my daily driver any more (company truck now), I will get in my old truck and take it anywhere without a second thought. Headed 250 miles one way this weekend in it.

The 2016 with the 5.0 v8 turbodiesel looks very intriguing

I'd say that is the thing I'm most envious of the Chevy and Ford - the v8 diesel sounds a lot meaner than the i6.

not knowing much about the new little engines, that old 6 cyl cummins would run head to head with anything powerstroke or duramax ever put out in their v8's

and I am big time biased toward Ford

we used to joke that if you had the Dodge, one thing you could always be sure of was that engine would run, the whole truck may rattle and fall apart around it, but that damn engine was gunna keep right on going

I have no issue with the performance of this thing. I'm on stock turbos and stock injectors and it put down 380whp and 810tq when we strapped it to my buddy's dyno. Once the converter is locked up, nobody can run with it from 50-100mph. It just doesn't sound quite as cool, that's all.

I'm sure the motor will outlast the rest of the truck. I'm doing whatever I can to keep it mechanically perfect. Rebuilt all the steering with the 2012 design when I re-did the suspension and took off the cheap mall-crawler setup it had on it when I bought it. Luckily I live in Oregon, so there is no rust to deal with. It's relatively simple/bare bones compared to the trucks out there today. Analog HVAC controls, no sunroof to leak, no expensive integral NAV with a touchscreen, no air-conditioned seats or heated steering wheel. No Diesel Particulate Filter or Diesel Exhaust Fluid to deal with. It eats up a transmission every 60-80k miles, but as long as you know that going in and you consider the teardown/replacement of the band similar to replacing a clutch, and just know it's a wear item, it's not that bad. The part itself only costs like $50, it's the labor to tear it down that costs a couple grand.

I remember when I was a kid, seemed like everybody's dad had an old 77 Chevy pickup that was just ol' reliable that they kept around because it didn't cost them anything to maintain and it was great for dump runs and going to get the Christmas tree. I think I'll have this thing forever, I'll just buy another AWD wagon to daily drive and keep the old Dodge in the driveway, as long as she stays running.

I've convinced my wife that the crew cab is a better alternative than a minivan. We take the truck on all our trips bc it rides so smooth and can just throw all the kid stuff in the back

Have a 1969 K5 Blazer, 350/300, 4 speed. It was my very first vehicle and still a monster. Rebuilt the engine at 170,000. Bored .30 and updated the heads/cam and such. Just a great, great truck/SUV.

Also have a 1999 F250 SD Lariat with the 7.3. Have driven several diesels over the years and I wouldn't trade it for any of them as far as power and reliability. The 7.3 is just bulletproof.

Our newer vehicles are cars. Since I only use trucks on the farm or towing boat/trailer, I see no reason to upgrade when the old guys do everything I need with no payments.

Got a 2015 Sierra 1500 Denali with the 6.2L engine right before Christmas. If you're getting a new Silverado or Sierra & can swing it, get the 6.2L engine. I'd rather have the extra power of this thing than the marginal increase in fuel economy by going with the 5.3L, plus I'll probably put a K&N cold air intake on it soon, so that'll probably give me 1-2 MPG bump anyway.

I had my 01 f150 for fourteen years til I wrecked it last year. 5.4L had 384,000 on it when I wrecked it.

Bought a 2014 Dodge Ram when the f150 rolled 350k, and I love it (woulda bought another ford but similarly outfitted dodges were 5-6k less and the Ford dealers weren't moving). Just now ran the stock tires off and put new BFG KO2's on it.

Still wish I had my old F150 though. You couldn't beat that thing up enough.

Not a fan of the new front end. The front bumper hangs over the front wheels too much, looks odd to me. Same with the refreshed front end of the 4Runner.

I'm sure it will grow on me though... The wife's next vehicle will be a 4Runner unless I find a crazy good deal on a Tahoe

Hoping to score a Sierra Denali in October.

The dealership I bought my wife's Acadia from last year had maybe 4 or 5 left over with the new model years on the lot and they were all ridiculously marked down so I'm hoping for a similar scenario in a few months.
