Started reading this last night, and couldn't put it down (through about 200 pages already).

If you like historical non-fiction (Erik Larson, etc), I think you'll really enjoy this book.

    Anyone else read it?

I read it and quite enjoyed it. And this, coming from a fellow that has basically no interest in crewing.

Just finished. I thought it was fantastic. Like you, II had no interest or knowledge of crew, but I loved this book.

Just goes to show that a good writer can make anything exciting and interesting. I also enjoyed a book called "Shadow Divers". It was about deep sea divers finding a German U Boat off of the New Jersey coast. I have very little interest in diving, but really enjoyed it as well.

If this was post WWII, I think I'd jump on it. For some reason, outside of the book The Wise Men, i prefer non fiction no older than the Cold War.k
