Arlington County spent $350,000 on this:
In other news, it's parent's weekend for American, Georgetown, and George Washington, so DC west of the park is to be avoided by all measures necessary.

You can also now follow on Twitter that owl that's been attacking joggers and cyclists (aka me) on the CCT in Bethesda.

I really enjoyed DC. One of my best friends went to West Point and I've become pretty close with a couple of his friends from West Point. One of those friends had a baby a few months ago and the baby was being baptized at the chapel at Arlington National Cemetery so a few of us came in town for that.

I got in at 10 Thursday morning and then hit up the White House, Washington Monument, National Archives, and the Museum of American History.

Friday I got a tour of the Capitol through my local congressman and then went to the Supreme Court and Library of Congress. The Library of Congress was probably my favorite building architecturally, although I liked being in the Supreme Court the most and seeing all of that because I'm a lawyer.

Saturday we did a Halloween bar crawl in Arlington. Nothing special, just a day of drinking with friends.

Sunday we did the baptism at Arlington National Cemetery and then hit up brunch in Arlington and then I flew out.

There's so much to see and do in DC. You could spend an entire day in one museum and not see half of everything in there. I was having to hustle through everything and I still didn't get to see even a quarter of the museums and stuff. I think the buildings are so impressive. Much more intimidating than a skyscraper and they just seem powerful.

Overall, I loved DC. I'm jealous of all you guys that live there. Really, really incredible city.

speaking of ramen, I ate at Momofuku and was expecting to be blown away. the shrimp buns were kick ass but Toki's ramen is definitely better.

I thought about it, but I was so on-the-go that I didn't really have time and my friends planned the meals when we were all together. Next time though

I live by City Center, and a day hasn't gone by that the line there is ridiculously long. How long was your wait? I enjoy Saku Ramen in Adam's Morgan of all the places I've tried in DC.

I'm not sure I get the Momofuku / Milk phenomenon as it pertains to DC.

Food is probably great, but surely some of this is clever marketing.

    That's pretty awesome. Where at?

Never mind, just saw right next to the Target and Payless.

For the foodies, I tried to go to Bad Saint for my bday dinner last week. My gf got there at 8:30 and there was no line out the door or anything so I was like oh sweet. The hostess greeted us and said they stopped taking names for the night at 8:20. Fuck em. That was my best shot to get in and I don't plan to try that game again.

We ended up going to Iron Gate Tasting room instead for the rating menu. The menu didn't look all that appealing to me, but it fucking delivered. The tzatziki sauce was the freshest thing I've ever had. I was basically kicking the bowl clean. Do recommend.

I went at 6:30 and there was no wait for 2 but my date wasn't showing up until 7. Ended up grabbing a beer at capitol city brewhouse and came back at like 7:30. There was only about 30 min wait at that point. It was good, but I was expecting to be blown away from all the hype. Actually wasn't too pricey. A few drinks, shrimp buns, 2 ramen bowls, and a dessert from milkbar and bill was only $78.

Would like to know whether Metrobus drivers or Maryland drivers are responsible for more carnage. Together they're probably the root cause of 98% of accidents, with cyclists being dumbasses responsible for the rest.

Morning Glory burger. Applewood smoked bacon, fried egg, jalapeno cream cheese, and maple syrup mayo.

I live about a half mile away but yeah it's in a weird location. Although Petworth is on the verge of blowing up. Upshur and Georgia is about to be the new 11th street in columbia heights.

Re that shit downtown this morning, if it wasn't a terror threat (just a "mental health crisis"), can someone care to explain to me why they needed to block off 9 city blocks? (I chose a bike for my means of transport this AM so it actually made getting through M St easier, but it did not appear to be a pleasant commute for anyone else)

Without going into details here, this Exelon / Pepco merger is a big loser for the residents of this city.

...and our city is still corrupt as it's ever been:

This is from an anti-Exelon website, but here you go: http://www.powerdc.org/settlement-facts.html

It seems as though a similar merger between Exelon and Baltimore Gas has led to multiple rate increases in the Baltimore region. It's basically what you expect to happen when private companies handle what should be maintained by the public domain. Higher cost and less reliability in exchange for shareholder wealth

Between Fig and Olive Shake Shack and Momofuku/Milk Bar it's easy to see why New Yorkers have such a snobbish attitude towards the DC food scene. Even DBGB sucked until they cleaned house.
