So what kind of buzz is this getting so far? I mean, that dude is so-hot-right-now as an actor, so that gives me hope for the script....
from tumblr The first thing Snape asks Harry is “Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?” According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning ‘My regrets follow you to the grave’ and wormwood means ‘absence’ and also typically symbolized bitter sorrow. If you combined that, it meant ‘I bitterly regret Lily’s death’.
Let's see, no more Hunger Games; it'll be one of those non-core Star Wars movies; any major Marvel movie slated for next year? Could be.
I think it's got a great chance of being more satisfying than the last few movies since it doesn't have a plot to fuck up
I'm a great guy and feel no shame about enjoying the movies while appreciating that the books are leagues better.
Just randomly saw this. Easily one of my favorite extracts in the entire series. Particularly the bolded part.
I like the end of that chapter when Dudley and Aunt Petunia treat him as family. That last good bye between Dudley and Harry always makes me smile.
I mean, I feel like I'm going to wish they would have let the HP franchise ride off into the sunset after I see it, but that isn't going to keep me from getting excited in the meantime. Plus Redmayne is amazing.
I just want Rowling to write a proper prequel or sequel. I'd read the fuck out of some Sirius and James Hogwarts years stuff, even if I know the eventual outcome.
That's a pretty lame ass teaser trailer if we are being honest. "Give the people font special effects- that is what they want to see"
Something along the lines of Around the World in 80 Days in the HP universe would kick ass...with time travel though...one day they're in ancient china and the next they're in present day japan and they can't figure out what's magic and what isn't
A sequel might work but prequels are pretty tough to pull off for basic timeline reasons. You're restricted in what you can really do creatively by what the audience knows will happen. Personally I think any continuation of the HP story would be a letdown because it would be impossible to top the story that's been told. Give me original stories with new characters set in the HP universe. Throw in some cameos from familiar faces every once and awhile and you got a stew going
So the new Hermione Granger is... uhhh... different JK Rowling Endorses Black Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Tara John @tarajohn 6:32 AM ET Ben A. Pruchnie—Getty ImagesAuthor JK Rowling attends photocall ahead of her reading from 'The Casual Vacancy' at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Sept. 27, 2012 in London, England."White skin was never specified" JK Rowling has endorsed the casting of black actress Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger in the London theater production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. When asked on Twitter what she thought of the choice, Rowling said that white skin was never specified in the novels and that she “loves black Hermoine.” The race of Granger, who was played by Emma Watson in the film adaptations, was never described in the books. Rowling only said that she had bushy “brown hair and brown eyes.” Shortly after the casting announcement was made last night, the Swaziland-born actress Dumezweni remarked on Twitter about the reaction she was getting from Harry Potter fans. The production—based on a story by Rowling and written by Jack Thorne— features Harry, Hermione and Ron as adults working at the Ministry of Magic.
I don't care while also acknowledging that it really doesn't make much sense. And yes, making it a play is really dumb.
even if a person was in london it would be stupid hard to get tickets. hoping they do a theatrical release of a taping.
Oh, I expect there will be a traveling version of the play that will make the rounds of the US within a few years. Also expect there to be a theatrical/DVD release of it as well.
what sucks about that is that the whole story is going to be spoiled long before the average fan can see it
is what it is. J.K. Rowling is turning into G.R.R Martin in that she doesn't give a shit about doing things to please fans. She writes what she feels like writing, when she feels like writing it, and in the medium she feels like putting it in. While as a fan, I am annoyed, but if this is what it takes for her to produce quality content instead of becoming George Lucas and half assing everything with only merchandise sales in mind, I'll take it.
There's no way you can really criticize or compare her to Martin. That's insane. She finished her story and doesn't really owe anyone anything. That's like being mad at Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld for not writing more Seinfeld.
I never said she owed anyone anything. Was more saying that she and Martin both are at a stage where they are writing for themselves, not their audience, or the money. Whether or not Martin should be at that stage is a different discussion, but I do see the similarities between the two right now
I'm mostly pissed that after all they did as children, Harry, Hermione, and Ron all end up working for the government. Pffssh.
There's not a lot of universe outside or the ministry, Quidditch, schools, and small wizard towns/shopping centers. Job opportunities appear to be a little scarce for our magical friends.
They have no math or science skills, no knowledge of world history, don't know how to use computers or phones. Would you want to hire them?
Many of them do, but not the pure bloods I suppose. Hermione and Harry would have known at least a minimal amount of those three subjects having studied in regular schools until they were 11. That is kind of Voldemort's whole point, though... We are better than muggles, but we choose to live a life of simple secrecy?? Goes against nature... It would be like homosapiens choosing to hide because neanderthals were around.
