Barkov will almost certainly sign an extension this offseason that kicks in July of 22. Huberdeau is the toss up. A decision will have to be made on him next summer. Thankfully only 2 more years of yandle.
fully expected, but this confirms that he will be on the team next year barring a disastrous training camp.
Seeing the Lightning do things to other teams makes me think the Panthers were an ECF quality team the whole damn time.
I really wish they would have found a better way to do it but he's gone and now Forsling is back on a really good deal for the org.
Can put him anywhere on the top 3 lines (other than 1st line center obviously) and he will produce. This is a fantastic deal for the panthers. gives the panthers Lundell insurance if he is Borgstrom 2.0, (he’s not. Lundell is a beast) his position flexibility allows the panthers in the short term to survive an injury to anyone in the top 6. This is such a win. I can’t believe zito just pulled this off for a goalie prospect we don’t need and a lotto protected 1st
Well regardless of who the Panthers have...buffalo gets a 1st and a top goalie prospect. For zito it was being spoiled with riches which makes it easier to pull off. That said, this was a great use of said riches. Just need a little more blue line help and oh man will this team be good
This team has so much depth at forward. If they can get any kind of stable goaltending, they have a real shot to make a long playoff run.
Think it's going to be Knight's show at some point this year. I get that they are hoping and praying that Bob rounds back into some semblance of form and his contract suddenly becomes more attractive in the future but he's been far too shaky to have any kind of confidence in him if this team is going to truly contend
Q is gonna do the same thing he did last year. Ride the hot goalie. The issue with Knight is that it is pretty unheard of for a 20 year old goalie to lead a team to a long playoff run. Cam Ward was the last one 15 years ago and time proved that was more fluke than anything else. Look at Carter Hart. Guy was a monster early, but a few years later he is playing AHL caliber hockey. There will absolutely be stretches where Knight plays lights out, but if we get into a situation where Bob is unplayable in the playoffs, it will make a long playoff run much harder. This team needs Bob to be the #1 if they want to have the best shot of winning the cup.
I don't agree with that at all unless Bob turns into Blue Jackets Bob which there is no reason to believe that. More and more sports have young guys stepping up and making championship impacts. No reason a hockey goalie can't do that.
I didn't say it was impossible that Knight can have that impact. I said it was unlikely. I was also implying that Bob reverted back to CBJ Bob which would give the Panthers the best chance to win the cup. I think that is more likely than Knight being the undisputed guy and going on a Cam Wardesque run.
right I just don't think the panthers need him to revert back. I agree that its much more likely Knight grows up quick than Bob reverts. That's basically what I was getting at.
I was saying it is more likely that Bob reverts than Knight establishes himself as a top 10 goalie in the NHL, but either way, we are splitting hairs at this point when it comes to this team. This is a damn good hockey team. Best we have ever had.
Didn't say he wasn't but it's fact that if bob starts the Panthers will find a way to give up 4 goals. One might even be an EN but they'll get there
