I’ve only been to Le Bernadin and EMP in the last 6-9 months, but I’m definitely in the minority of posters and reviewers in that I preferred EMP. Maybe it’s because I’m more open to vegan/veggie meals or maybe I just had a bad experience at Le Bernadin, but it was not what I expected.

Thanks for the other recs. I will try them soon.

was in nyc last month. was just there for a little over a day and a half. went to a yankees game and mets game.

yankee stadium is so corporate and bougie. its nice but has no character whatsoever. citi field was sick just didnt like how there wasnt a lot of stuff around it. easily the superior stadium despite their delusional fanbase

ate lunch at souvlaki in manhattan and their greek pizza was incredible. walked around columbia and it is a gorgeous campus

thanks for allowing me to share folks

Service was average. Our main server mumbled quietly in a thick accent and my older relatives couldn’t hear what she was saying. When they asked her to repeat some things, she was visibly unhappy. Food was good but nothing stood out. We had some pretty great wines in the pairings. The ambiance felt like I was in 2005.

Maybe my expectations were too high. Had a much better experience at EMP with the vegan menu.

LB was the best service I’ve ever had by far.

Felt like we had 50 servers who were always available but never annoying.

Current bros, there was a Dominican restaurant on the corner in Washington heights, and it's been some time. Arroz con pollo for like $8. There was some parks and schools to the east/ne,directly across the street, around 150s. That was legitimately the absolutely best restaurant in nyc during my time. I get the status and experience thing, I do. But it's been years and I've never had a better meal than that place. It's probably not there anymore or changed, but having had both (pretending to enjoy places like le Bernardin), I'd say that place was the best restaurant in nyc and worth the trip to a neighborhood most travelers would be nervous of for no reason

it’s not Dominican (it’s Puerto Rican), and not Wash Heights (it’s Bronx), but your post reminded me that I’ve been meaning to bring up this place La Piranha for the thread and see if anyone had been.

this review makes it sound godly

It was too short notice for most of those places reservation wise, but I did enjoy Llama San. Thanks.

I thought Bondst sushi was overrated. Kazunori hand rolls were probably the best meal of the trip, but sushi west 35 was also amazing. Pick up only: https://www.sushi35west.com/

Nah, it’s just like a high end night club with a stage at front.

Mostly table reservations with bottles, but also a GA section for a select few.

Pretty sure the show is the same for everyone. I’m not an expert though - just been several times.

I also haven’t been since well before pandemic. Maybe things have changed.
