JP is talented but deserves even more props for being one of the few remaining sources of original ideas in cinema.
A preview for a movie that will be an allegory for what it means to be an alien in today's society. Possibly touching on race issues.
I’ll wait for Nah: Part Two on a serious note, I’m still waiting on a “District 9” sequel https://screenrant.com/district-10-movie-release-updates-neill-blomkamp/amp/
I just ordered my tickets for this Thursday and got my SO to watch "Get Out" for the first time this evening. Needless to say, I'm excited.
Does this seem like a movie that needs to be seen in RPX/Dolby sound system? Or just standard would be fine?
I’ve always thought Signs was a good movie. The plot point that the aliens were easily killed by water was very stupid I must admit.
Yea it was but I don’t know if it’s bc I was young & dumb, but the “swing away Merrill” or whatever they say before they fuck them asshole aliens up was p boss M Knight Shamalayan is basically RL Stein for high schoolers and college kids anyway
I like most of his movies. Are they masterpieces? Nope, but he has some good ones. The Unbreakable trilogy is great. Signs was great. I liked the Village and Old.
I’m not at all in to anime or whatever the hell it is so I never saw it but isnt The Last Airbender widely considered one of the worst movies of the last 25 years? otherwise I agree and would add The Visit to list of entertaining if not enjoyable.
Oh yeah that one exists. Always forget about it because it didn't come from his brain. Yeah that is even more irredeemable than Lady in the Water
Lady in the Water is one of the 3-4 worst movies I’ve ever seen. I just watched Old and the acting is terrible but the story was interesting
Idgaf how many bad movies he’s made 6th Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs are great fucking movies and he gets a pass from ol’ Roy for life. The Visit is good too actually. I mean I may never like any of his other movies but god dammit I will always respect him.
In that Marky Mark is the worst actor alive and every single scene he’s in is unintentionally hilarious. The most likely option is that he was offered the part entirely to mock him, and he was too dumb to realize it.
I like The Happening while also hating The Happening, if that makes sense. The casting for that film is still a head scratcher to me. Olds 3rd act is just super lazy, and I'm not sure M Night knew what to do with that film.
Since we're on the subject of UFO/Alien films. Super 8, Fire In The Sky, The Vast of Night, and 10 Cloverfield Lane are high on my list.
The aliens' weakness in Signs is so bad, but other than that I have always had a major soft spot for that movie. I rewatched Close Encounters of the Third Kind the other day, and that's high on my list of alien movies as well.
Black Phone was good to me, but seeing mixed reactions. I don't feel the movie was anything special, but I enjoyed it. It just needed a little something more to put it over. I got my ticket to NOPE for Saturday @ noon in Dolby. Seeing so many people expecting it to flop, but I liked Us which a lot of people didn't seem to. Whatevs. Movie looks great to me.
I liked Signs despite its flaws. The scene of them watching the little news clip scared the fuck out of me the first time I saw it.
