loved episodes 1-9 of HH. Didn't care for the finale. will definitely rewatch 1-9 though to see how it goes having seen how it plays out already. great show. have loved Carla Gugino since she was Rebecca Warner on the farm she's still a 10. Feel like Henry Thomas is always the same character: naive, helpless, do no wrong, shit end of the stick... legends of the fall, suicide kings, gangs of new york. hell E.T. too only watched the first season of Shameless had no idea who Levy Tran was but her google image results were a pleasant surprise if you like tatted chicks
Finished watching this recently and really liked it. Basically a Spanish mixture of The OC and How to Get Away With Murder. It immediately got renewed for season 2.
On 24 August, Breivik was convicted as charged and sentenced to 21 years of preventive detention in prison, the maximum sentence allowed in Norway. The sentence can be extended indefinitely as long as the prisoner is deemed a threat to society.
Empire Records is on Netflix now apparently been on there all month. oh well still rex manning day for me
Watching Ugly Delicious and I can’t remember a group of characters with less self awareness than the Noma fuckers (especially the woman) from the Mexican food episode. These people: 1) Had their test kitchen in a beachfront McMansion 2) Hired the damn local women to make their tortillas for their pop up events 3) Reinforced the simplicity and resourcefulness of rustic Mexican cuisine 4) And then proceeded to make a fucking fried soft shell crab in blue corn batter taco laid in some kind of wasted butter/bib lettuce garnish Rage level is Taco Bell Extra Hot.
This seems odd but I’ll do this again for sure. Absolutely loved the Disney live action remake and this looks great as well.
Outlaw King was great. They apparently cut 20 min out. So the sex scene was meh. Can't wait for the directors cut
Anyone else watched Fauda? It's about an Israeli special forces unit focused on Hamas. Good drama/action series with two seasons. It's shot in Isreal which is interesting and does a fairly good job of giving you a sense of what the conflict is like without over explaining it because it's for an Israeli audience. Highly recommend watching it in Hebrew/arabic with English subtitles. Great show imo.
I have a soft spot for that area of history because the first time I ever left the country was as an 18 year old who spent 2 weeks in Scotland and England. I loved Braveheart (it came out 4 years earlier than my visit) and everyone I met there HATED it so much. I always heard Wallace was a nice story but Robert I was their hero, their Washington. The cinematography, costumes, locations (Netflix touts it’s the only ‘major’ motion picture shot in Scotland) were great. It blows my mind they were filming scenes in castles and cathedrals that the actual events were taking place in 700 years ago. That’s damn cool. My gripe is that it’s too big of a story to fit into a movie. Wish they would of made it a 3 or 4 part 2hr miniseries. Could of been so epic.
Yes agree, especially considering his wife was in captivity for 7+ years. It could have definitely been a great mini-series.
yeah without a doubt. i wish we got to see the battle of Bannockburn. But the movie cost $120m so i guess that wouldve been a steep price tag for a battle that large.
I thought I read, or saw on YouTube, that there is talk that this is intended to be Part 1 of a trilogy. Although the movie did seem to wrap up a few loose ends, so who knows. And given the price tag, idk how Netflix could do 2 more of those in quick succession. My wife was saying that Netflix is losing so much on its movies that they're considering either premiering larger productions in theaters or putting them behind another paywall (i.e. $5 to view, on top of your monthly subscription).
I usually love period pieces like the Outlaw King, but I really did not enjoy it. It's a giant cliché that I found hard to take seriously. I am actually surprised it got a full 57% on RT, because I'd expect somewhere in the 20-30s. Don't read below if you haven't seen it yet. Spoiler Character development was poor at best. I didn't care about any of the characters. Their relationships grew without the audience getting a chance to really grasp onto any of them individually. Robert the Bruce was way too perfect -- I knew this was coming the moment he didn't bang his wife on his wedding night (maybe one of the most overused tropes to illustrate a "good guy" in movie history). I wouldn't care too much about this last criticism if the movie wasn't stock full of every cliche movie trope ever used, but the 2 kings meeting on the battlefield for a final showdown was a cherry on top for me. Too much. That said, the movie was beautifully shot. The music and costumes were on point. Also, extra props for it's attempt to stay as close to real history as possible.
Enjoyed outlaw king but didn’t love it Battle sequences were great but you could tell it was edited down a bit because it felt rushed at times
I watched Fauda a few months ago. It was just ok. It clearly wasn’t big budget and was kind of predictable. And I thought the acting was poor. I loved the idea and setting so that’s why I stuck with it. I’ve been watching Bodyguard and it has grown on me. It’s definitely done better than Fauda was imo. It’s set in England and involves British espionage.
Funny, I'm 4 into the body guard and so far prefer Fauda. Did you watch in Hebrew or the dubbed version? Made a big difference for me.
The Bodyguard picks up episode 4 or 5 imo. I watched Fauda dubbed. That may have contributed to my not liking it as much.
Outlaw King : Game of Thrones The Wire : The Deuce Lot of familiar faces. Pretty sure at least 3 were from GOT in Outlaw King.
Yeah sure. But it was bloody and entertaining. As I said before they'll need to throw up the directors cut.
He apparently complained about only being able to play PS2 in jail back in 2016. https://www.rt.com/news/340356-breivik-verdict-playstation-torture/
it's interesting, didn't know it was mini-stories... not sure if they combine up later on, but I'm through 3 of the mini-stories so far (each are about 10 min)
I don't know how or why I started watching The 100 and idk if it's good or not but I'm on season 2 and can't stop watching
Yeah, don't watch Fauda dubbed. Subtitles are definitely the way to go. Fun fact, the main character, Doron, is played by Lior Raz. Raz is also co-creator of the show and is ex-Israeli Defense Forces. So a lot of the military/technical aspects of the show are extremely real-life because a lot of it is drawn on Raz's previous experience. If you have two minutes, his Wiki is wild. Spoiler He was also Schwarzenegger's bodyguard!
didn't know what i was going into when I turned it on, just clicked on it (hence why I typed, "didn't know it was mini-stories", not that I didn't understand) but thanks for contributing to the thread.
Has anyone seen Roma yet? I am not even sure if it’s even available on Netflix yet, but it sounds like it’s a serious contender for best picture. If it won, it would be the first Netflix and the first foreign film to win the award.
