The concessions operation at Regions Field last night was pathetic. A COMPLETE shit show. Zero communication, zero leadership, zero give a shit, 100% wheels came off. Everyone looked busy as shit but absolutely nothing was being accomplished. They should be embarrassed. I know it was opening night but, good god. I've seen faster, and shorter, lines at Disney land. The place looked like a kicked up ant hill and everyone who worked there it was their first day on the job....unreal.

    May I suggest...

-Go to a limited menu when you're getting your ass kicked in the weeds (beers, peanuts, dogs, nachos) maybe a few others but just the staples. None of this chicken ceaser salad half a rack of ribs bullshit.
-Two people handing out wrist bands...One to check IDs and the other to apply the wrist band.
-Hire better people with some actual gumption to take control of the situation, reset, remain calm and delegate that shit
-More beer only stands/roaming vendors and don't waste time pouring beers into cups for patrons...no one gives a shit
-Condiment packets...no need to portion out condiments into individual cups, waste of time and money. (no one had any food but by damn that kid was ON TOP of those ketchup cups)

    The whole thing was retard...

    http://www.bizjournals.com/birmingh...ays-birmingham-could-support-a-major-pro.html

Study says Birmingham could support a major pro sports team
Major League Soccer is the best hope for Birmingham to land a major professional sports franchise. But it's not the only professional league the Magic CIty has the buying power to support, according to new research by American City Business Journals.

The study found that Birmingham is one of several markets considered "underextended" when it comes to professional sports teams. In fact, Birmingham had a perfect 100 percent capacity score for the MLS, NBA, NHL and NFL.

ACBJ, the parent company of the Birmingham Business Journal, used total personal income for the Birmingham-Hoover-Talladega combined statistical area to calculate the area's capacity. Here is the full methodology.

The study said Birmingham's $54 billion in total personal income is sufficient for an MLS team ($14 billion), NFL ($48 billion), NBA ($45 billion) or NHL team ($50 billion). An Major League Baseball team, on the other hand, is well out of reach with a required $104 billion.

But don't get too excited about seeing LeBron James or Tom Brady playing in Birmingham anytime soon. A closer look at Birmingham's numbers reveals why Major League Soccer is probably Birmingham's most realistic option.

As I've written before, Birmingham's sports scene is an anomaly due to the huge elephant and tiger in the room. Although the report considered major college football and basketball programs (which require TPI of $26 billion), that amount wasn't subtracted from Birmingham's score because Alabama and Auburn are both located outside the metro area.

When you take into account just how many Birmingham residents are season ticket holders at the schools – not to mention the corporate boxes and sponsorships – it's safe to assume the Tide and Tigers are cutting heavily into the metro's available TPI for a pro sports team.

That's one reason why MLS is the best option. With only $14 billion in TPI required, it's likely Birmingham could sustain an MLS team, even considering the heavy investments residents make in Alabama and Auburn each year.

RELATED: Why major pro sports are a long shot in Birmingham - for now

Unlike the other leagues, MLS has also been in expansion mode lately and probably isn't finished. Birmingham's best shots with the other pro leagues would most likely come from a relocation, not an expansion franchise. And, unlike places like Seattle, there doesn't seem to be a billionaire openly trying to make a relocation happen.

And Birmingham also has a strong history of supporting soccer. Games at Legion FIeld for the 1996 Olympics drew higher attendance than several other larger markets. Hoover also recently hosted the College Cup.

Even so, an MLS team still remains far from a slam dunk – or a penalty kick, if you will – for Birmingham in the immediate future.

Nothing new here. But I, too, think an MLS team could be the ticket for Alabama professional sports. The Atlanta Silverbacks making it to the MLS would hurt the potential user base but I think a nice moderately sized stadium in Bham would bring out some solid support for a local team.
