thank god we have a mod around here that actually works unlike those other two losers that were tagged
Sorry, I don't check the board as much as I used to. Someone can start a new thread if that works best.
You joke, but I'm very concerned about competitive balance in the sport going forward post-realignment. The top 5 teams and 7 of the top 9 teams are in the SEC or will be. Plus, the top 7 teams in attendance. I know college baseball is regional, but I don't think that's great for the long-term health of the sport.
It's really not and I'm scared about competitive balance in football too. But SEC football isn't as dominant as SEC baseball is. SEC had just 2 of the top 9 in football (though obviously those were the #1 and #2 teams). It's deeper in baseball by a fair bit. Plus, having the top 7 teams in fan support concentrated in the same league is pretty unprecedented in any sport. That being said, the randomness of baseball and the 64-team format does bring in more teams. The recruiting rankings are a good correlation to success but not to the level of football where you have to recruit at an elite, elite level to have a shot. Teams that recruit at a merely good level have gone on deep runs or even won the CWS. My hope is that this will prevent baseball from being dominated by a few teams from one conference every year.
Yeah, y’all definitely don’t have the starting rotation you’ve had and have some question marks on the mound. Bats should be solid again though like always. We once again have a stupid potent lineup and some question marks on the mound. Pallette coming back from injury to be our Friday guy, Noland likely the Saturday guy (fuck him), and either Wiggins or hopefully Hagen Smith as our Sunday starter.
I’m fully prepared to hate watching this season. We’ll hit well enough and pitch poorly enough for no game to be “over” until it’s over.
This is year fsu finally wins a championship in baseball. I think they are kinda under ranked considering the pitching staff fsu has but ranking is fair because we probably will fuck up
Looking at Nebraska’s OOC schedule. Sam Houston State, TCU, LBSU, Kansas State… what are the odds we can stay around 15-40 ranking wise before big ten play?
First time I get to say this and it’s going to feel good. I can’t wait for the defending national champion bulldogs to take the field this year.
I took a stab for Nebraska. Bold is contributed or started last year. 1st - Jack Steil 2nd - Cam Chick 3rd - Max Anderson Short - Brice Matthews LF - Leighton Banjoff CF - Luke Sartori RF - Tyler Palmer or Garret Anglim Catcher - Griffin Everitt DH - no idea could see Banjoff/chick/Steil time here. Friday - Shay Schanaman Saturday - Kyle Perry Sunday - Drew Christo - might get relegated to the pen here or here, gave up a couple HR’s in fall ball. Midweek - Koty Frank or Jake Bunz Closer - Colby Gomes (didn’t actually play last year due to injury but was a freshman all American at closer, been dealing with injuries after trying to stretch him into a starter) FOP - Koty Frank or Jake Bunz Not mentioned in the line up but defensive replacement because he can’t hit Efry Cervantes who was nails last year in that role. That also almost completely ignores everyone we have coming in via HS/juco/transfer.
Your guess is as good as mine. Both these guys probably come in with a shot for the rotation. I could be completely off with Perry as your Saturday guy, just as easily could end up as your long reliever. Same kind of for christo, could maybe just stay in the pen to start the year, earn some midweek starts before weekend rotation work, but you have to think he was promised a lot.
Sucks, was probably going to be our Friday night guy. Lots of talent behind him to fill the void, will be interesting to see who steps up. Wish he would’ve just had it done last year when he got hurt.
I assume they'll come out with a tv schedule pretty soon, wanna say it has usually been set more than 2 weeks in advance in the past.
Nothing till March 12 seems stupid, I get that there's basketball going on but gtfo at zero time to show baseball
