Don't know if anyone hasn't finished this game or cares to replay it but Odyssey just added a story creator mode where you can design and play your own missions. You can choose or create characters to interact with, set the dialogue, pick what actions must be taken, etc. Haven't tried to create one or played any that have been created by others yet. Just from browsing available stories, people are predictably creating stories to sex characters they wanted to in the game.
I’m about 40 hours in. Middle of chapter 6 I believe. Currently at the Olympics and have 3 of the items needed for Pythagoras. This is my favorite Assassin’s Creed and likely a top 5 gaming experience for me. The whole fucking package is just perfect. Tough break for this game to have come out in a year with God of War, Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Monster Hunter World. It was definitely overshadowed if people only had time for 1 epic adventure.
Added a little bit more to my post to acknowledge the other amazing games of 2018. I think I put AC:O off to the side for 4 months but I’m so glad I picked it back up. I gave up on Origins after about 10 hours and I was bummed when I had the same initial feelings about this. Once you get off Kefalonia and realize the game isn’t going to force you to do all this optional stuff and go to every region like they’re just chore items, the game really takes off. And then you end up wanting to because they poured love into each of the regions.
Same, Started AC then went to RDR2 then had to pick back up where I left off in AC. Game was great, really hope the get back to their assassin roots on the next game.
I personally liked Odyssey way more than Origins. The improved combat alone makes it the superior game imo. I would love to play the old Altair/Ezio games with this combat system.
What did you like more about Origins? Honest question because I thought everything, story/combat/perk system/visuals, was better in Odyssey.
Ehh, Kassandra>>> imo. Now that I think about it, I will concede that Origins had far better voice acting imo. The guy who did Alexios in Odyssey is just awful.
I thought Oirigins as a game was amazing. Bayek was great, all the quests were fun. The overall build of the environment was amazing to navigate through. I did think the overall story and the "origins" of the Assassins was a bit of a let down. But everything else made up for it.
Kassandra just oozes personality. I don’t want to talk to anyone that chose to play as Alexios. Yikes.
I think me making the mistake of playing as Alexios has hindered my experience but Bayek is still my favorite character in the series I need to replay as Kassandra
If playing as Alexios and seeing Kassandra as the CoK’s secret weapon, I’m pretty sure I’d have actively tried to ensure their successful takeover of Athens.
I still need to get around to playing Odyssey but interested in a new title. Hoping the year off help them reset a bit like it did for Origins.
Same, Origins was awesome. Odyssey had to unfortunate timing of coming out when RDR2 and Spider-man released.
I kinda don't like them losing the AC roots and assassinations and such but God damn at the last few games. The history lessons, the time periods, the combat, the stories and voice acting. I'm 100% in, sign me the fuck up.
Got into Odyssey during this lockdown and loved it. Finished practically everything possible so not sure it has much playability left, but excited for this new one to come out.
Series is hella on sale for xbox users in the store rn, picked up the Odyssey gold edition that was AC3 remastered and bunch of DLC for 25. I was coincidentally playing ac2 for the first time, finished yesterday actually, I had only otherwise played the first way, way back. What others of the series would you guys recommend?
I did mention xbox in the first sentence. Narrative across the games isn't super important compared to in game story unless you're balls deep and care about Desmond I assume?
Honestly every AC game except Syndicate and Unity is worth playing AC3 is not a good game but the idea of running around forests to ambush redcoats and act out Last of the Mohicans style fights is too fun to pass up IMO
they are all worth playing to some extent, its just that some of the stories are quite lacking compared to others. Revelations was amazing simply for the Ezio ending and learning what happened to Altiar.
3 combat using the tomahawk on redcoats, Patriot style, was the most fun However I’ve only played a wee bit of origins and none of odyssey
Just not feeling Bioshock Infinite. I think the first person aspect of it is making me motion sick too. Odyssey worth giving a whirl until Last of Us 2 comes out?
