I can’t watch. Following some on twitter. Sounds like morata is playing like shit but at least isn’t flopping as much and bakayako still doesn’t fit next to kante but haven’t seen much else. Anything you can add?
Hopefully the next manager can figure out how to utilize Batshuayi since he can't stop scoring for Dortmund.
I don’t think cesc should play in a game like this would rather drinkwater. I understand why he played cesc against Barca but against a more physical spurs team I don’t see it. Really wish bakayoko was the player I thought he was last summer.
I was wondering while watching CP yesterday if RLC was more likely to take Fabregas’ role or Bakayoko’s
Haven't seen Morata get frustrated so far, at this point I guess his reputation will preclude him from ever getting a call in those holdup situations.
feeling like I have 1st half against barca at home and at old trafford. Have looked like the better side clearly but it doesnt show.
I was critical of Matic last season but i have no doubt that we would have 5-10 extra points if he was playing midfield instead of cesc or bakayoko in some of these games.
Board is at fault for this season. They thought we did it last year why couldn't we do it again this year? Forget that every purchase was a replacement buy instead of an attempt to improve the first team.
Zappacosta can't even unseat Moses at rwb and Drinkwater is always gonna be second choice on a top 4 team. Enough has been said about Morata and Bakayoko. Roman needs to either splash the cash (unlikely based on recent history) or go with a full on youth movement.
Anyone have access to this? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...ng-significant-summer-since-roman-abramovich/
It's a largely aging team without a lot of assets who would bring much in return other than the obvious few. If recent history says anything it's that we need to sell to finance the spending. The China absurdity is done so no 79 mil pot of gold for Oscar and Ramires. Courtouis is probably gone but I'm sure we'll get raped buying a replacement without much cash left over from his sale.
Sad to hear that Ray Wilkins died, he was the glue that held the team together through Scolari and that 09/10 season. Ancelotti couldn't praise him enough in his book; "Ray is one of those select few, always present, noble in spirit, a real blue-blood, Chelsea flows in his veins ... without him we wouldn't have won a thing."
Was thinking based on a reddit comment I saw a couple days ago and I truly can't even name a core group Chelsea should build around. If we're truly going to have to do an overhaul this summer, I can't name many players who I'd be upset with the club selling. I'm hoping we get Tuchel and a youth movement, but 1. It sounds like Tuchel to PSG is a done deal and 2. A youth movement would be a hard sell to Courtois and Hazard, the only two surefire Champions League-level players on the roster right now.
N'Golo Kante and Dave are surefire Champions League level players imo. I agree with the rest of your post though. We need Lamps or JT to return in some coaching capacity with the first team. Need to reinject some passion for the club, everyone seems to be phoning it in right now (Conte included).
Yeah, can't believe I missed those two. They're just not in the transfer rumors so easy to forget in thinking about player decisions.
Kante has been rumored to be a PSG target (natural with any French player these days) but he's played it down. He seems like such a meek person in general that I doubt he'd ever really ask for a transfer.
I agree with Popovio its Dave and Kante. Dave should be the captain and Kante the player the midfield should be built around. Christsensen should also be looked at as a core piece. He has struggled some toward the end of the year but so has hazard. I think christensen has done well being thrust into a key role year 1 back from loan. Willian has been good but is getting older. Pedro can leave, I think Hazard will leave. Morata should stay but is he a key building block? He has already said he would like to go back to madrid at some point. In a different system I think Bakayoko could be good. He was really good last year. I can't project him as a key player though. I think the squad needs to be rebuilt. The best bet would be to get a world record fee for Hazard, make a couple more sales and by 1-2 young studs and 2-3 young players with potential and integrate a long term strategy with younger guys like christensen and RLC.
