Got my tickets...pretty excited. Hopefully they make it a game in Mexico so we actually have something to root for in Leg 2.
Impact suffering from Champions Leauge. You know you're in suck mode when the Dynamo are running it up
Crew looked miserable today. 0-0 draw at New England but it was an awful match with little chances Higuain has been shit so far this season, been pleased with Kamara and Saied so far, need Trapp and Waylon Francis to get healthy. Tchani and Saied have been fine but it'll be a good rotation with them and Trapp; Klute isn't doing it for me
The first goal was soft too. (The non-offsides in the first half was debatable.) I've only watched him in the two games vs. NYRB this year, but he's not been in top form, IMO.
@TaylorTwellman: Agree or disagree let me know what the state of @ussoccer is in 2015 when a college player starts over professionals. #PHLvNE Hot take alert
NYC vs. Portland is going to be on FS2 because the NASCAR race got delayed, will also be available on MLS Live.
I realize that teams have different schedules and bye weeks, but why does the MLS have some teams with 8 games played and some with 4?
Impact has had a lot of bye early due to CONCACAF Champions League. I believe DC United had a couple as well for the same reason. When those teams have bye other teams have to have byes as well, so it sort of trickles down especially in the East this year. MLS schedule is also weird.
so what is his point, exactly? If its on US Soccer - isnt that a good thing to have young kids earning spots over older guys who didnt get it done? Isnt that a sign of progress or am i missing something? If its a 'state of MLS' argument, that might make more sense.
I don't really see it as anything other than Klinnsman seeing something he likes in Morris and giving him a chance and Morris taking advantage of an opportunist bounce to score a goal a goal that plenty of American strikers in MLS could do if they were also given a chance and had an opportunity. Morris scored 4 goals at Stanford last year. He is not a better player now than Lamar Neagle, Ethan Finley, Tesho Akindele, Khiry Shelton, etc...He might be in the future, but not now.
I think he sees it as a slap in the face to MLS. He was trying to use this as an example of the growing rift between Jurgen and the MLS. He also complained about Jurgen contradicting himself by using someone who isn't "going against the best" because he's in college. Conveniently enough, he forgot to blame MLS strikers for being so shitty as to warrant a college kid getting called up instead of them.
Yeah, Montreal has only played 4 games and they just had their next ones rescheduled due to the CONCACAF finals. They're going to have to play 5-6 games per month at the end of the season.
Well he is correct in saying JK has publicly said he wants people to push themselves at the highest level possible, and then JK calls in a kid who has turned down the chance to turn pro twice now. It's just one of many instances where JK has contradicted himself publicly. And honestly, I don't think Morris is even the best attacking prospect in the Sounders pipeline. That would be Victor Mansary, who's 2 years younger than Morris and already getting in some MLS games, as well as playing with S2. They also have 19 y/o Christian Roldan, who started their last game vs. the Galaxy. The fact that he's a super smart kid could actually hurt him some with his soccer career.
I think MLS scheduling can be god awful at times. Might be the worst of any professional sport over here.
Grant Wahl is saying that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to play in the MLS in LA, LAFC will likely start in 2018 and Minnesota United could start playing in 2017. Also, Jordan Morris has been offered a lucrative written contract by the Sounders.
