I’d be like a fucking kid in a candy shop. But I’ll give it a try Tier 1 PVW23 Tier 2 OFBB Michters 10yr Rye Tier 3 Weller FP OF150
On the extremely slim chance that I win a spot, I feel like I need to know more about these bottles: E.H. Taylor 18 yr Marriage Bourbon $69.99 Blanton's Bourbon Gold $119.99 Booker's Little Book "Lessons Honored" $124.99 Old Fitzgerald 14 yr $129.99 Parker's Heritage Heavy Char Bourbon 10yr 14th Edition $149.95 Old Forester 150th Commemorative Edition $149.99 Any first hand accounts? Also, I don't know anything about Kentucky Owl. What are they all about?
Just buying for myself with no intention of selling, I'd go Tier 1: PVW15 Tier 2: EHT BP and 4R SBLE Then all kinds of shit from Tier 3
E.H. Taylor 18 yr Marriage Bourbon $69.99 -- If you only want to sell and make maximum profit get this but it tastes like a watered down cured oak to me. Blanton's Bourbon Gold $119.99 -- have a couple of bottles of this, nothing special Booker's Little Book "Lessons Honored" $124.99 -- ask NYGator Old Fitzgerald 14 yr $129.99 -- Buzz , pperc I loved my OF 13, haven't had the 14 Parker's Heritage Heavy Char Bourbon 10yr 14th Edition $149.95-- I usually love PH but haven't had the chance to try Old Forester 150th Commemorative Edition $149.99 -- I would definitely try this but I absolutely love Weller FP so I'd be torn Also, I don't know anything about Kentucky Owl. What are they all about?-- Do not waste any picks on kentucky owl.
I’d also be interested in some BTAC 2020 reviews for those that have tasted. Doesn’t seem like anything has really blown people’s socks off the past few years the way that release used to. Have heard that the Sazerac and WLW are tops this year though.
WLW is always the tits. I’ve had ER17, and, though delicious, wasn’t in any way worth the premium over standard ER.
Thank you sir. I’m also looking for “buy to drink”. My picks are pretty much in line with your thinking there.
I like barrel proof. I like most wheaters. I usually love Russel's reserve store picks. Not a huge rye fan but MWND tastes like christmas as many in here have said. I think PVW 20 is better than 23
Buddy of mine got #7 last year and I think 3 people in front of him didn’t even show up. Can’t imagine what that’s like. He did very well. Then even if you get picked but somewhere low like 75 or > it gets tricky. You definitely need a depth chart like this going in.
Challenging Whistlepig for the title of most ridiculous pricing in the game, apparently. Are they actually going to be able to move 18 cases of the 10 year Rye at $200/bottle? The last batch is readily available online for well under that.
This was posted in one of the FB groups today.... just a guy with a casual 60k shelf of unopened whiskey
Only 277 bottles made....150 probably still unopened with collectors/traders, destined to be sold over and over again til some dumbie like (but considerably more wealthy) than me actually opens it and drinks it.
Tier 1 - Pappy 15 $119.99 Tier 2 - EHTBP $69.99 HW MWND $99.99 Tier 3 - WFP $49.99 $340 with $10 leftover for some Taco Bell Would keep all and drink them happily
Opened my SE4 PR6 (think that's the code for this year's release.) Big fan, partly because I got it at slightly above retail ($65) rather than overpaying last year ($80). Really good proof level, not incredibly sweet or complex, but just solid toffee notes. Very enjoyable pour, definitely buy if you can find it at the $60 msrp.
My wife enjoys drinking bourbon, she's not crazy into like us but she likes a decent pour, something along the lines of Russell 10Y, solid bottles that I can find regularly. I found a SE4 PR6 a couple months ago, went to pour a glass a couple weeks ago and the whole damn bottle is almost gone. She thought it was just a regular Makers Mark so had been sipping on it for weeks. This is the third time this has happened, so she now has her own section of approved bourbons she can just sip on haha. Luckily I found a whole shelf of them last week at my honey hole, going to grab another if they still have any this week.
She can and we do together often, she's actually much better at picking out notes than me so it's fun. It was her idea, she doesn't follow bourbon or anything so she just wanted to make sure she wasn't just randomly drinking nice bottles when she just wanted a glass of whatever on a Tuesday night. Yea, didn't mean for that to come off as some controlling thing, that would be a very quick fuck off from my wife if it was.
haha, ok that makes sense. my wife did that to me and wine. she asked me to come up with a system to know which wines are cheap dailies and which are $150+ bottles so she didn't open one, drink half and then have to throw away the other half.
I always feel like an asshole when I tell people to stay away from certain shelves and the wine fridge but
Just refill the Weller special reserve with Benchmark or Buffalo Trace and leave it out. Not that I do that...
Yeah, unfortunately they only ship in state. Currently enjoying the 1792 full proof. My 2nd experience with a store pick version and I am a fan.
I grabbed a bottle yesterday. I bet you can find it at other stores. Apparently its a Holiday Season release.
You know what I hate... when people say they "found" x, y, z bourbon. And it turns out they either traded for it or bought it on secondary. That's not "finding" shit.
