Brisbane had waited too long for European football. It was a travesty. Glad we could bring it home for clemsontyger04

Otamendi should definitely replace him. He's my vote for player of the season too.

First 9 games without him: 5 losses, no clean sheets
Final 25 games when we switched him in: 1 loss, 10 clean sheets

6.9 rating is nice and also the highest of any defender in the sim

I’m looking over the stats now for my POTY, YPOTY and TOTS (typically go with a bench also) and he certainly jumped out and halfway through is probably my top CB.

You’ll be hard pressed to convince me the golden boot winner with the highest rating in the sim who was also tied for 2nd in assists shouldn’t be POTY though

    Toughest omissions from TOTS:

    Attackers:
Mandžukić - Brighton aren’t in the battle for relegation without him, they’re clearly dropped.

Lukaku - Good numbers but 3rd best of the ST/ST/CAM triangle for the Roar.

Salah - Great numbers, think he really got better after the move to ST.

Wingers (Hazard and the Real wingers were the clear class of the group.):
Neymar - Assist leader had an amazing season.

Philly Wingers - Son and Mahrez both put up good numbers.

Spurs Wingers - Costa and Višća both had great season.

    Mids:
Reus I guess but the Mids were pretty weak

    Defenders:
Piqué - No injury and there’s a good chance Real wins the league and Pique is TOTS.

Akanji and Škriniar - Fiorentina CBs were very good but with equal or less clean sheets and a lower rating I couldn’t justify putting one in.

Vrsaljko - Best true RB but I can’t argue against what Alaba did (1 less CS but 3Gs) and what Martín did in a shortened season deserved recognition.

Alba - Very good but Sandro had a better rating and 1 extra CS. Martín had 1 less CS and a higher rating despite missing a number of matches.

I swear that wasn’t even intentional.

Marcelo I couldn’t count as LB, if he did then he’d get the spot. But he was a LM and he had good numbers there but not near Neymar who missed out.

Alba was good but I touched on him in the toughest omissions.

I was going back and forth on the LB spot and the 2nd CB spot and in the end decided I didn’t think Sandro and Stones both deserved to be in there if I was putting Busquets in and Stones was a toss up and Sandro wasn’t.

DMs weren’t great. It was a 2 man competition between Busquets and Kanté, they had the same rating but Busquets put up 8 goals

Roar management voted Kante our most disappointing player, actually.

Shame Marcelo didn't make it. He was huge for us but I can't argue. We put him in a position for team success, not personal glory

I hope everyone had fun with it, honestly my favorite part of the soccer board each year.

It’s work running it but worth it.

I also want to apologize to everyone and explain the lack of UCL.

So I spend a lot of time getting the rosters right. Game won’t let you get below a certain number of outfield players (17) so as certain clubs get decimated by picks, I’ll have to go put guys on the roster so I can take more off them. Long process.

Well after I did that, I set up the league and saved that file.
Then I set up the cup and saved that file.

Then I was going to set up our UCL as a custom tourney like normal but thought hey, that messes up the calendar and only goes over like 4 months so when an injury happens it really fucks with things. But hey there’s the new UCL mode.

Go to that, game does a forced roster download meaning all of my work was wiped out. I decided I didn’t have it in me to do double the work to get UCL when we already had league and cup. My bad because it’s fun to have but lesson learned for next year.

DMs always disappoint on this. But if you look across the board at DMs he and Busquets were the clear best. Mids in general were a disappointment this year. CAMs/CMs/DMs. Just weren’t a lot of options when looking for recognition

I'll probably retire after this season. I can't not have spreadsheets, it's a gift and a curse

To the surprise of nobody in the Roar camp. Outside of waiting too long on RBs and being forced to draft a LB there our draft went exactly to plan. We wanted big fat bois in the middle for a ton of service from our odd midfield shape. I think our team was set up great and I am proud of us

This would be pretty disappointing and lame.

Spreadsheets can still be used but use whoscored ratings.

I check sofifa because it keeps track of position eligibility which for me is huge in my bench. I’m not sure if I had anyone on my bench that wasn’t a GK that only played 1 position. Maybe Schär

We were big on positional flexibility too. This was what our sheet looked like in the end.

We were really big on stamina, work rate for our defenders and weak foot for switching Perisic/Alaba's sides
