I like Castillo from the Reds. He's controlled through 2023 (I believe), and he's pretty damn good. He'd probably cost a fortune in prospects though.
Lineup tonight 1B LeMahieu RF Judge DH Encarnación SS Gregorius 2B Torres 3B Urshela CF Gardner C Romine LF Tauchman SP Tanaka
Has to be defense. Tauchman is a plus defender imo. Atleast compared to Frazier. I also think red thunder is being punished.
I’m not saying it’s the right decision but it seems painfully obvious Frazier is the better ball player right now and this decision wreaks of the front office sticking it to him for his antics.
Normally I hate having to watch the Ray's broadcast bc YES is blacked out when we play them bc I'm in their market. The last 2 night have been fun though. Their announcers were so damn sad in extras.
For skipping the media after a poor Sunday night game? I mean I guess, I just think it's a bit much. The team is res hot so who am I to question it, just seems odd.
It is absolutely a bit much. I think just his attitude/personality rubs some the wrong way and that was the breaking point. I doubt it’s specifically that one incident.
In before it looks like I'm hindsight criticizing...but I just tuned in and CC is coming back out for the 7th in a one run game? Yes I see he's pitched well and his pitch count is good, but I can't help but feel like this is playing with fire at this point in his career
Just seems like such a waste of a good bullpen to send a guy out in the 7th that you know has struggled past the 5th/6th in recent years. 30 year old CC, hell yeah give the bullpen a breather. He's not that anymore though. Not sure what Boone was thinking. To be fair I just started watching in the top of the 7th
How much of the pen isnt available tonight? That's what we don't know. I'd be surprised if Chapman was available. He pitched Thursday and Friday, and was up 3 times before going into the game last night. You're probably looking at Hale or Kahnle for the 7th and then O and Britton after that.
So how long do they let the Rays and Sawx hang around? Also, anyone have any idea what Cashman will do headed into the trade deadline?
He said today that we're targeting SP, but everyone knew that. No clue who we'll go after. Sevy is still 6-8 weeks away so can't really count on him. Our lineup is dumb deep but man idk if I feel good going into a playoff series with Tanaka, Paxton, and German. I guess the plan will be to get 4-5 from them and then hand it over to the pen. I just always worry about that bc you're depending on 4-5 pen guys to be right that night. It only takes one of them to have a bad outing to cost you the game.
Stroman seems like the most likely and easiest to get. Scherzer and Bauer are in a playoff race. The Mets will ask for too much for Wheeler and Syndergaard. Bumgarner has been off lately and will command a big haul. I guess Boyd is the next best option, but I just don’t know much about him. I think Boston is done in the division. The Rays will be out of it in 2 weeks
I've heard and read several say he wants us more than we want him. Found that odd but who knows with Cashman.
Yeah, I think that’s come out in the last few weeks. However he is a ground ball pitcher, which is who the yanks should covet. I think he is like too 5 in the AL on ground ball outs
Oh they'll add someone. I just dont think I'll be a true frontline guy. There's not really one out there. Tanaka and Paxton will be our 1-2. Not terrible, but nowhere close to what the other playoff teams will roll out there. Verlander/Cole, Kershaw/Ryu, etc. Sevy going to shit last year and then being hurt this year really hurts us in that category. We don't have a true ace.
Yeah took what should have been a called strike three, then took another strike that they rung him out on. Not great.
