The bad defense. The bad luck infield singles. Kershaw wearing out through the later innings. Dodgers not providing run support.
I really try to not buy into the choking in the postseason thing but this is hard to ignore. Just looking like a completely different team from the regular season.
I was wrong about Mookie. Everything is terrible. Goodnight and see you for the last game of the year tomorrow
Even if we come back and win the World Series it’s time to overhaul this roster. JT, Joc, Baez, Kenley, Kike, Taylor gotta go. Time to move on. Not opposed to seeing what Kershaw, Seager or Bellinger could bring in a trade. We’ve failed the same way for 8 years, let’s mix it up. Dave needs to go too. This team needs a Leyland or LaRussa but not sure those kinda managers exist anymore.
If you lose Roberts gets fired and some roster moves are made. Joc & Kenley should’ve been moved 2 years ago
The vaunted Dodgers bullpen that was statistically the top bullpen all season has allowed 15 runs in 15 1/2 innings during the NLCS. The jokes write themselves
Also, it’s incredibly frustrating to watch the opposing teams top players carry them to series wins year after year and our top players just disappear.
Well Joc and kiké are gone after this year I believe. Seager has been too good to trade but I agree. We cannot just continue to run this all back the same. Although it doesn’t seem to matter who is in the pen or where they came from. Because every year our pen pitches terrible in the playoffs after being a strength in the regular season. Every year besides 2017, the dodgers get beat by the better and hotter team. Cubs in 16. Sox in 18. Nats in 19. Braves In 20. I’m sure a lot would be different if this team got the WS it deserved in 2017. But we will never know. And this team, in its current form, is cursed.
Whether it ends tomorrow or Saturday, just another disappointment in a long line of recent disappointments. So it goes
You are on the money with the bullpen. Different players same results. No way we trade Seager. He’s a cornerstone piece and the least of our problems. If we have to choose between Bellinger and Seager give me Seager every day. Turner, Joc, Kenley, Baez, Taylor, and Kike can go. Also, I think next year is Muncy’s last year on his deal.
This is the last year of player control on Seager. With his injury history I can’t see us handing him a big deal. So if we can get good value in return we gotta do it. Muncy has three years and 26 million left on his contract he just signed this spring.
I disagree on Seager but I understand your concerns. Fuck me on Muncy. Hopefully next year he goes back to his 2017-2018 form.
I think Muncy has been battling an injury most of the year and playing through it. Hopefully he’ll be fresh and back to form next year
Clearly the frame of the team works. But certain pieces need to be moved around and brought in to help finish the deal one of these years.
Maybe it was the shortened/irregular season or maybe it was that the Lakers season was happening at the same time, but I can't get too angry over this season. It's disappointing it seems they'll fall short again but this postseason doesn't feature nearly as many of the hair pulling "What the fuck is he thinking??" type moves from prior seasons. It sucks we'll probably never get the triumphant Kershaw redemption start he deserves, but asking the 32 year old shaky back'd version of him to "make up" for the 27 year old version of him is unrealistic in the first place. He had a great regular season and he's still an integral part of the rotation but he's no longer THE GUY, and that's fine. It's on the front office to get a top SP to handle some of the heavy lifting in the postseason. I realize that Verlanders and Scherzers don't grow on trees but that has been something they've been lacking these last few years, especially once Greinke bolted in FA. Buehler's best days are ahead of him, ditto May and perhaps Urias too, but I'm not sure waiting for those guys to hit their peak prime maximizes the roster they have right now. Not getting Gerrit Cole will always be a "what if?" for me.
Freeman is batting .430 and Mookie is batting .140... nuff said. Also, Max is not a good defensive first baseman.
I seriously wasn't going to watch tonight. But I am. And what I'm seeing is just awful. Nice pitch to Pache on 0-2, Dustin. We just find ways to lose.
5 strikeouts within the first seven batters. Looking back it’s hilarious hearing people talk about how our depth advantage will take effect later in the series.
Watching our batters walk away after a strikeout while looking at the jumbotron in bemusement is just so sad.
Bringing in Joe Kelly to do damage control is like asking a bull to put a house of cards back together.
