Is it a cheat to say I'm fine with anybody in the 3-7 range so that I'm not moving up? If I had to choose, I'd use the 54th or 60th to move up and get Byrum, given the need for a D. I don't know if that's realistic.
Good strategy by HSJ just to pick someone different in every mock all ranked within the Wings draft slot. She has no fucking clue.
It honestly seems like no one has a clue what the Wings will do, but it's mainly because no one know's who is going to go before. Sounds like we like 5 or so players in our range, and would take any of them if they fell to us.
Lots of teams have been rumored to be active this summer, but nothing from the Wings. I feel like Yzerman is just waiting in the weeds to pounce on a desperate team looking to unload a bad contract.
It just seems strange given that so many around the wings haven't gleaned much, yet this guy says this and that he doesn't think they're not very high on zegras
I could be proved wrong but my initial take is that guy has no clue what he’s talking about. Not even a little bit. There are a lot of informed journalists when it comes to Wings in the area/national and no one has much of a beat on what they want to do. Yzerman has been very guarded when it comes to the draft.
Worst case scenario are Byram-Turcotte-Zegras are the 3 taken before our pick. In that case I would be more inclined to move down to 10. If any of those 3 are there, take them.
Yzerman and Wright’s history is to draft CHL kids more often than not, so I get Zegras maybe not fitting in here. It’s a bummer if true.
It’s been easier in the past to project CHL kids because they faced a more consistent competition. As the USNTDP has played more games against college teams, it’s changed a bit. That said, it’s still a bit more of a crapshoot.
My knowledge of Seider is limited to the WC and blogs but the raw tools are obvious. Great size, awesome skater, right hand shot and most important, great hockey sense. Now, can his shot and passing catch up to his other attributes? If so, he’s a 1D. That is probably unrealistic. Worst case then is a 4 or 5. It’s a huge gap and it’s a big gamble but the risk might be worth the reward.
I have previously advocated trading back up into Rd 1, but dont feel like it's worth at this point unless Krebs falls a little more
So if Seider goes to GR, we are looking at something like: Cholowski - Seider McIllrath - Lindstrom Saarjarvi - Kaski
