Guy just described my whole life "It goes on to say that he “kept his sanity” by breaking down each day into hours, and then dividing each hour into five-minute segments."
The article also killed me when it made it sound like he started a GoFundMe page while stuck out in the woods with his legs trapped under a tree.
If this or similar ever happens to me I'm using my 2% battery to start a tmb thread to ask for help Eh, might not be enough juice. Might just have to post it as a reply in the random internet tits thread that was definitely already loaded.
My favorite part of the video is trying to figure out how his strategy would possibly have any good outcome however angle it fell at. It’s so goddamn tall if it fell the other way it’s hitting the house across the street. If it fell sideways it’s possibly hitting a passing car at worst and making the road unusable for hours at best
Homeowners should cough up some of that 60k on the grounds of looking at that tree and thinking it'd be fine if they let their lawn guy try to take it down for cheap. Guy does a great job on our lawn. Figured he'd do a p decent job on my heart transplant
I was always under the impression that if you hired someone that wasn’t bonded you would be responsible for the damage. That’s how it is here. Maybe it’s just state specific:
there's no way around it. That tree's friggun' huge, imagine cost of having that professionally dealt with gotta be ~$1500-2000. You don't have to know as much as me*, but I'd expect most people who aren't a complete idiot would think there's a reason that's gonna be such an expensive job, and letting Carl have a go at it with his chainsaw for a $200 is not a great idea. Good deal no one got killed. Spoiler *grew up in a town with a lumber museum
There was a story done about it. Home owners weren't home (at work) when it happened. Also that's the neighbor filming it and it apparently happened a year ago and just showed up on tiktok
I’ve cut down about a dozen pines from around my house on my own. Ratchet it in the direction you want it to fall and start cutting on the opposite side at a downward angle. Stop cutting before you hit the end, give it a push, and get the fuck out of the way. I would not touch one the size that that lawn guy did, though. Yikes.
Jesus christ at that guy trying to stop the tree. I thought that was going to end badly. Guys, maybe this isn't common knowledge but get the fuck away from any tree that big that's coming down.
To be fair, with a tree half the size of that you can often re-route its fall by up to like 45° if it’s falling that slow. Those guys were obviously complete morons though.
“The Army veteran who spent time in Iraq also leaned on his military survival skills. He ate plants and insects at an arm’s reach and drank sweat and rainwater.” Thank god he learned how to eat what he could reach and drink what dripped on him.
Wasn’t referring to the training but his misguided brag lol. It’d be like him falling in a pond, saying his Navy Seal training kicked in, and he was able to doggie-paddle to shore.
Found out i gotta replace a good stretch of our sewer line today. Dawned on me to rewatch this video for comfort and solace and it worked
