He’ll get away with that one based on Domi’s head changing position right before contact. Can’t help but be happy it was Domi though.
I'm not saying it's a bad call, it's just not ever called that way Especially with such a garbage player like Trouba
This is why you have to do something about the first hit. Then he has repeat offender status and you can give him an outrageous sentence this time. Instead he skates (no pun intended) on both. This league doesn’t actually give a shit about brain damage.
“Why has their been no carry over from last game?” Uhhh…did she miss the guy instigating a fight after last game getting his head removed tonight?
Carolina being the dirty team but all you sickos in here who hate the Rangers for playing physical are silent sad
Have been against the whole “let’s add grit” POV the Rangers went with this past offseason, but it’s finally paying dividends in this series. Carolina isn’t matching their physicality without taking penalties (though I’ll admit the Rangers got the benefit of some calls tonight as well). Either way, a more physical series clearly favors the Rangers.
I really hate this narrative and try to resist it too. One of my Canes friends is insistent that an “enforcer” is what we need to get through the playoffs and I just don’t buy it. We’ve definitely added some playoff experience/grit type guys in Ian Cole and Derek Stepan, but it hasn’t materially changed our playoff run. Like I get the desire to have it given what the Lightning have done with some of their additions over the years, but it just shouldn’t matter. Of course as long the league changes the rules for playoffs maybe in just full of shit.
Carolina and Toronto are in the same spot the Lightning were 5 years ago. The lightning kept going with the fancy. Once they got their 3rd and 4th full of gritty players, changed everything
Tampa had 2 conference finals and a SCF appearance before they broke through, not seeing the Toronto comparison The Columbus series was the monstrosity and to their credit, didn’t blow it up
I feel like Florida may have just gone through that process that Tampa did getting run out of the playoffs. Question is how they respond to it. Carolina is an interesting one. They’re a very well put together roster top to bottom that seems to be good at everything but not necessarily great at anything. I’m not sure they have the top end talent to deal with Tampa/Colorado (nor do the Rangers). They haven’t showed the depth scoring or toughness to make up for it. Kinda remind me of a few old Rangers teams that are just a really solid B+ across the board.
Florida reminds me of the Caps under Boudreau. Regular season juggernaut, amazing core, not all that tough defensively or getting scrappy goals Probably a corsi monster like we were and the analytic nerds will convince themselves they don’t need to change
Edmonton Colorado going to be a lot of fun mixed feelings about Evander’s resurgence but he’s playing fucking great
The lack of an elite scorer who can manufacture their own shot has been a glaring weakness the last few years under Brind’Amour. Not saying it’s his fault, but as we’ve improved each year we've hit the same ceiling when it comes to scoring. This year we got some elite goalkeeping from Freddie Andersen that masked some issues, but the PP has been shit since the break and at 5v5 we just don’t have the top end skill to consistently beat playoff teams.
