Wouldn’t shock me if McDonagh ends up in Detroit. Yzerman is the guy that acquired and extended him, Lalonde is now the coach. Plus, since TB really has to move him to keep as much of the team together as possible, Detroit can get him for nothing if he waived his NMC.
Haha. Thursday morning he’s on TSN 1200 radio saying he’s all but retired. Not interested in anything that’s been pitched to him, looking at maybe maybe doing some consultant work from his Halifax home.
lightning always needed to be careful to get out from under that contract before it was too late. Sucks to lose him but timing is right.
That’s good business from Tampa. He has maybe a year or 2 left before that contract becomes brutal and nobody will eat it. Sell now and keep younger players.
No doubt, a d-man who plays that hard and blocks that many shots is going to be brutal from 35-37, especially with that AAV. He's a great locker room guy, a "glue guy", but they needed to dump him to be able to sign Palat and it seems like they are intent on signing Rutta as well, which I don't hate.
Who is a likely target for your draft slot on Thursday? Can see the Sens trading the 7th for a top six winger or going with Kasper, a rising C.
Keith will get into the HOF but even his case isn’t airtight. But my god the rest of that list after the top two is legitimately awful.
He was great for a good 5-6 year stretch which gets him in, but he’s never been the best D in the league at any one time. Very consistent. Definitely first ballot hall of fame shitbag though. No issue even making him wait four years for that honor.
Go look at the 99 draft, now that is terrible. Barrett Jackman might be the the 6th best player in that draft class
It’s nearly as bad but the Sedin’s being elite drag it above 2002. It’s really not shocking that hockey was so dead in the early aughts because there was so little talent coming into the league for a long stretch of time. Thank god we are beyond that now.
I mean I’m sure my judgement is being clouded by Keith enabling a sexual predator so yes, I’m not likely being analytical here.
Saw that draft last week when I wanted to see what the Sedins did exactly and was shocked at how poorly that turned out. I am wondering if the changing of the rules in 2005 hurt some of them. Just an awful awful draft
and the talent was not able to shine, guys like st-louis and briere started to shine when they finally changed some rules
Keith was up there for close to a decade as top D in the league. He could control the game from his position. He played with numerous HOF’ers and was every bit responsible for helping to lead his team to Cups.
The fact that offer sheets aren’t used more in the NHL is absolutely laughable. Pretty much anyone can have Kakko for $3m AAV and a 2nd round pick right now. Yet the Rangers will somehow bridge him on a 2 year, $2.5m AAV deal. And while Laf and K’Andre Miller will likely warrant more next year, they’re prime offer sheet candidates too who can easily be stolen.
So in theory the next 48 hours should be bonkers, but it feels like we are always let down when the conditions are ripe for madness. One can only hope shit goes down.
Watching unrivaled and call me crazy but a guy that gets thrown out of a game shouldn’t be allowed back on the ice to go through a handshake line. Also how did the Avs PR people not get ahold of Lemiuex and tell him to shut the fuck up
how on earth was that not a penalty shot, not only that it wasn’t even a penalty lol that game went to ot, and the avs won
