Let's see if we have enough fans to support an offical thread http://www.evertonfc.com/home/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everton_F.C.
Like this, like what he brings at left back. Heard Arsenal was looking seriously at Jagielka, anybody got anything on that?
Agreed. From what I've gathered Jagielka to Arsenal is pretty much inevitable. Top of Wenger's list, which stinks.
Hopefully it just does not happen, it would be a big loss. Are any of you heading across the pond for a match this upcoming season? I'm considering doing three over the Christmas season. 26th Birmingham is at Goodison, 28th they play at West Ham and then on the first of the year they at Stoke City. Three matches in six days, which is nearly impossible to do outside of that time of year.
Yeah, that's why if I'm going it'll have to be for three games within a week of each other. With the typical schedule there is no way I can justify it financially, because it's on a weekly rotation so you're flying all the way there for one match unless you stay over a week. What do you guys think about Silva heading to Man City and the effect that has on getting Donovan back?
I dont think it will change one or the other. I just hope London will remember what he want through in Germany and realize he wine get the support at man city that he would in mercyside
We will finish as high as 4th, as low as 12th. Ah to be a fan of middle tier. At least we have history on our side, right?
Mucha's Goodison switch now official 01/07/2010 Jan Mucha is officially an Everton player, completing a free transfer from Legia Warsaw today. The Slovakian international's participation at the World Cup Finals in South Africa ended with his country's 2-1 defeat to The Netherlands earlier this week and he will be allowed an extended break before linking up with the Blues' squad later this month. Travelling Squad heading to Oz: Turner, Nash, Ruddy, Hibbert, Coleman, Neville, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Mustafi, Osman, Bilyaletdinov, Rodwell, Arteta, Baxter, Gueye, Saha, Beckford, Vaughan, Anichebe, Silva, Jutkiewicz.
Thinkin about making Everton my team in the Premier League. The USMNT is my favorite soccer team and Everton has/might have our 2 best players. What are the odds that Donovan sticks with Everton for a while? He's on his way out in LA right? Sell me on Everton
Well as of right now Donovan is going to be playing with the Galaxy in the MLS, that said it is a definite possibility that he is going to want to take his skills to the EPL, and if he does Everton has got to be the favorite to retain his services. Tim Howard is a beast and is without a doubt one of the best 10 Keepers in the world. Everton is very lucky to have him. In terms of why you should become a fan of Everton, there are many reasons IMO. First, you already have some sort of connection through the American player side of things, and Everton fans in England are extremely friendly towards American fans/players. Second, Everton is a good club to choose if you don't want to be accused of being a bandwagon fan by latching on to one of the big 4. We are going to be in the running for a Europa League spot pretty much every year, with the possibility of champions league every so often. We also will be competitive in both the Carling and FA cups, which are always exciting tournaments. Everton's Manager, David Moyes, is widely regarded as one of the best 2-3 managers in the entire premier league and is well known for signing unknown players and developing them into solid EPL players. Finally, as a club Everton flops/acts a fool less than just about any other team you will find in European Soccer. We play a very workmanlike style that is similar, at least imo, to the way that the USMNT plays. That good enough?
What would you guys rather do: 12/26 Birmingham 12/28 @West Ham United 1/1 @ Stoke City OR 1/1 @Stoke City 1/5 Tottenham Hotspur I'm sort of torn.
pretty tough. On one hand you can see what should be 3 wins, on the other you get to see one win and an awesome game. I would go w/ Stoke and Spurs though.
Yeah, I'm seriously undecided. It's really hard to pass up on seeing three matches, but the Spurs game would be insane at Goodison.
I think since both scenarios only include one game at Goodison that the Spurs game would be the one I would personally want to see.
Yup, I agree. Quantity vs. quality argument. Either way I'm spending New Year in Stoke. Should be classic. I know little to nothing about that place.
I am pretty interested in making a similar trip this Dec/Jan, you mind sharing your travel arrangements/costs etc?
Haha, save up and head over. Taques just posted he'll be catching City this same time period. A bunch of soccer board dudes taking over England
I am 6 months into my first job ever. So I don't have any vacation days until the end of Jan. '11, and I am a writer for a newspaper so I don't have money. But I can live vicariously through you.
I hear you. I just quit my first office job at BOA...start grad in August, so I'm going to hash it out and travel. What department are you in? Sports?
