I'm not trying to suggest anything is better/worse or right/wrong just an observation. Maybe it's also that it normally comes as we are coming out of the ass of winter in the upper midwest that the green is exaggerated.
If you get the golfer's journal, the evening shadows on the course reminds me of all of the dark photography in that mag
Didn't get enough in the second round. Too many guys ahead of him to beat them all. They mentioned that 32 of 33 last champions have been in the top 10 after 36. He's T17.
They said he'd never win again too, then last year happened. I'm not saying he's going to win but he's certainly in it still. Only 50% of the tourney played so far.
haven't played in a few months but been working on a new tempo/move with the net and mats in the back yard and with some advice from players better than me. played today and shot +9 on 14 holes which is about my average, but I was consistently longer and straighter, and I was playing a draw with my irons which I never had before. if I get the new distances dialed in a little more I think this will lead to better and more consistent scores.
Super golf novice question here. What is the purpose of fade/draw shots instead of coming straight on? Is it just for when you need to bend your shot around something?
super short answer: Fades tend to be higher, slightly shorter and stop faster whereas draws are usually lower, go further and run out more.
different holes have different shapes, so a dogleg right might require a cut while a dogleg left might need a draw to be in position A. the same thing with pin placements because you can use more of the green to bring it in rather than missing short sided. most amatuers however are just trying to hit it consistently one way or the other and know their miss if it isn't straight.
Players also want to shape shots to conform to the design of the hole. Think of the 13th tee shot at Augusta - a fade runs out into the pine straw. A draw follows the shape of the hole and runs out down the fairway. Or on approach shots pros will shape their shot so it might start at the middle of the green and fade it to right hole locations or draw to left hole locations. Idea bring there is more room for error when the angle of approach is along the center of the green
Have been in Ft Myers for the weekend at The Plantation. Got to golf Saturday, range Sunday, 18 again today. today was an absolute shit show. Couldn’t hit anything good until 13 holes in, when my irons started connecting. have been using spare clubs of the in-laws. I hate using clubs that aren’t my own. also was my wife’s first and second time playing. Really hard to try to teach her, when I need teaching my self, lol. She topped nearly every shot. back to Ohio, where we can’t golf cause the weather, just as she was starting to enjoy the game.
He hit a fade at the 13th at The '14 Master's. That ball was 366. I think Bubba's big shots are fades.
Photo doesn’t do it justice but played black diamond quarry course today. 5 holes wrap around a rock quarry. Amazing stretch of holes. Add it to the bucket list for those looking for destination courses. Had one of my best rounds and shot a 78.
Played this a few years ago. That five-hole stretch is absolutely amazing. The rest of the course was just OK. The other courses at that place pretty much sucked.
playing grand national in Opelika next week. Can only play one course, anyone have a recommendation between lake and links?
The Lakes was redone a few years ago to host a PGA event for 2-3 years. To me, it’s a little tougher side. If I were choosing one, I’d probably chose it, but the Links is a fun course too. Not really a bad choice though.
I agree. Incredible 5-hole stretch. If not for that I’d rather play both courses at world woods 30 min away.
Have SL2, haven’t put it on a cart. Although it would 100% be just like any other carry bag there. Bag is nice quality. Carries well. Light. The pockets suck. They are really tight. I bought little pouches I attach to one of the loops to carry balls, tees, etc.
Anyone that has done a putter fitting, did you notice a difference in your newfound putter? Did it even change what you usually played? I want to club ho and get a Spider X, but considering getting fitted to ensure I’m getting the best fit.
So I bullied my way into getting the allocated Jordan golf shoes starting with the new black/red Jordan 5's coming out next month. Not sure how much my members will want them so I may have a few pairs up for grabs, likely a little under retail.
So today me and me wife were off work. She wants to get me new irons for Xmas since mine are from my sr year of high school and i am in my 30s. What should I do. I am a middle of the road golfer who enjoys his friends. Should I go to Dicks or where. Thanks.
