thought about fiery gizzard but realized that would've meant driving up and staying overnight to get a morning start. So instead stuck to the ga side, went to cloudland canyon state park on Sunday, and proceeded to get stung by a yellow jacket on the west canyon trail. https://www.atlantatrails.com/?s=Chattanooga usually use that site for hiking ideas
Yeah the one that was in the coma for like 10 years woke up and then died shortly after. They ended up convicting a guy. What a wild story. I remember Action Jack’s. I can’t recall exactly where it was though. WayCrazy’s was out past where Bachman Elementary was. There was a gas station on the corner that it was right next to. My parents would alternate between there and driving off the mountain to Shuford’s. Maybe Hollister Road?
Man I'd like to check out that unsolved mysteries. That show spooked the hell outta me as a kid. Didn't some woman drive off the lip a few years ago and wasn't found for months and everyone thought her husband killed her?
Cloudland is great. The disc golf course there is fun too. At least it was when I played it 3-4 years ago. Never done Fiery Gizzard but I’ve heard some great things. I would recommend Savage Gulf. It’s a little north of Chattanooga and can be a tough trail depending on what loops, but awesome. Stone Door is easy to get to and great.
Yeah she was in a Jeep and drove off the side of the mountain. Lots of wild stories were drummed up until they found her. Video on the triple murder. The other guy in the coma I was thinking is something else.
That woman who drove off the cliff was ruled an accident though there were a lot of fishy things in that story. They were on the verge of divorce. The husband was a pretty weird dude. She was driving under 30mph when she swerved and went off the mountain. Took them 7 months to find the vehicle. https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/news/story/2012/jan/05/palmgren-crash-ruled-an-accident/67530/
How's $950 per month to rent up on Signal for a newly renovated 2/1.5? I don't see much in the way of homes/duplexes on CL, just this: https://chattanooga.craigslist.org/apa/d/signal-mountain-duplex-nice/6685987823.html
Seems really low, especially for the school system up there. Public schools in Chatt are horrible. People will buy/rent any property to send their kids to the Signal schools. My buddy has a few houses in St. Elmo that he flipped that are 2-1s that he’s had for over 10 and 6 years now. They’ve sat empty a combined 3 days total in that time and he has them up for 1400-1500/month. It looks like it’s in a neighborhood. Which?
I have a few extra VIP tickets to Chris Robinson Brotherhood if anyone was on the fence about going. $35
Timely bump, I was actually going to search for a Chattanooga thread. My wife is running in the marathon Sunday and we’re heading up Saturday morning. I think we’re going to do the aquarium (because I’m a huge fish nerd) and that’s really all we have planned. Any suggestions on a good lunch spot for us, place to watch the Bama/UT game, and late night spot for me to drink beer and watch football while she rests? Breweries, gastropubs, Asheville-type stuff. TIA.
Tremont Tavern for food/game Hutton and Smith and Heaven and Ale for breweries Diamonds Billiards for late night shenanigans/durg hookup
I visited in August. I really enjoyed myself at Feed Table and Tavern. Cool atmosphere and Best damn cheese fries I've ever eat. We Ate at Maple St Biscuit Co on the way out of town. Good breakfast. Taco Mamacita for lunch is . I also like the Pickle Barrel's rueben and fried pickles. Aquarium as you know is awesome. Loved the fresh water side. Checkout the Chatty Wagon app. Free ride share shuttle in Downtown from 6p-midnight.
Ate at Parkway Pourhouse for the first time earlier this week. Had a very solid crawfish etouffe. Definitely recommend checking it out, good beer selection and prices are good considering what some of the other new spots charge.
Wanna go to Ween tomorrow night? I also second every rec in Ryno's post minus Diamond Billiard. Flying squirrel and bitter alibi are always a hit and legit good spots I don't get to enough. North shore has some good eating spots - embargo 62, big chill, brewhaus, river Street deli, taconooga. You could grab lunch at one of those places then go to Mike's Hole in wall for the game. There will be a ton of bama and Vols fans there.
Parkway Pourhouse or Tremont Tavern for lunch and/or beers while watching games. The best breweries in town imo don’t have TVs (Hutton & Smith, Heaven & Ale). Big River Grill has 3-4 tvs in their bar areas but it’s touristy and lame.
Had my rehearsal dinner at River Street. Wouldn't call it underrated as anyone who has been once will always go back. The Walker Theater is awesome and my new favorite venue in town.
Almost finished with one side of our duplex, started on the second side. I’ll update with the final CL link when finished, but this is our listing currently to generate interest. https://chattanooga.craigslist.org/apa/d/duplex-for-rent-near-signal/6699465566.html Believe schools are Thrasher Elementary, Signal Mountain Middle, and Signal Mountain High School?
The middle/high is in the same general area at a complex of sorts I believe. I went to Thrasher. Great memories.
I like Parkway Pourhouse, they did great job on this space. Their jalapeno corn fritters and the mustard they come with are so damn good. Etouffee was good too. Can't really go wrong with any of the recommendations itt. Tremont, Mike's, Parkway Pourhouse. All have reasonably good TV setups, Mike's especially.
I only say that because its location is not ideal and I forget about it when considering lunch options, so underrated was probably the wrong choice of words
Is Porter’s done for good? My dad witnessed Andre the Giant drink 4 bottles of wine there one night while they were in Chatt for a wrestling event. It really seemed to fall off its former glory. What’s the new spot supposed to be?
When I moved here 15 years ago it was considered the best place in town, but it really fell off over the last few years. Wife and I went last summer and it was very meh - not even in same stratosphere as St. John's. Hope something good happens there.
I used to love the tenderloin at Porters. Has anyone at the restaurant at the Dwell Hotel? Tried to go last Saturday but it was fully booked.
Have not been to Whitebird but went to Whiskey Thief last week, I liked it as Chattanooga was missing a bar like it plus the rooftop views there are nice
I haven’t but I’m gonna do a little vacay there with the wife after she has the baby and he’s old enough to leave with the grandparents. If I’m dropping money on a really nice dinner it’s hard not to pick Alleia.
If you need a babysitter we have one that is awesome. I think 3 other families on our street use her so it can be difficult getting her. She ised to work at Northside Learning Center.
Have you done this before? I see them and St. John's all the time and it's a great deal. I believe they give you four $25 gift cards and I'm worried the restaurants will only accept one at a time.
About a year and half ago. A colleague at work lives there. He bought the gift card for us at Costco, and the wife and I used it no problem. I don't remember there being four separate cards. Even if they did, I couldn't imagine them saying only one card per visit. It's not like it's a Groupon or something similar.
My family used to get together at Solarium every week before Nightfall. Service can be a bit iffy depending on how busy they are, but the food is good, though a bit basic. Mostly breakfast/lunch/small plates on there. They've got an excellent eggs Benedict, however. I've yet to try Matilda Midnight on the other side of the hotel. Know a few people that used to bartend there. Think their menu is different from Solarium, but they share the same kitchen.
I do it all the time. You get two $50 cards for Alleia and can use both at the same time if you want.
Congrats on the child. When is your wife due? We are having our first (a boy) in about 2 or so weeks. We went and toured Erlanger last Sunday. Shit's getting real.
Dude. We may have been in the same tour. We toured Sunday too. Wife is due in 2 weeks. We came in late. Congrats to you too!
Wife and I had a baby at Erlanger east over the summer. If you're delivering there beg them for a bigger post delivery room. The small ones suck.
