i'm really not talking anything specific on purpose. i would hate to be the one to take away someone's first hand experience on something
god dammit. i'm going fucking crazy on ebay with these amiibos. i've now got 7. guardian, rider link, archer link, zelda, 8-bit link. smash bros link, and ocarina of time link.
Best Buy had everything in stock today. Got the Switch and the game. Anything I should get that isn't in the console bundle?
I bought the guardian one too. Got it in the post and immediately thought, my fiancé is going to fucking hate anywhere I put this.
I'd say wait to play the provided "controller" to see if it works for you before buying a pro controller
I have all 4 of (no spoilers) now. About 40 hours in. Not even considering going to the castle yet. I think I'm gonna get to 80 shrines before I do that. Probably going to hunt out my side quests and close those out. This game is just fucking excellent. I think it goes from top 10 to top 3-5. Nintendo couldn't have picked a better console mover.
thankfully for me it was. i didn't know if there was a specific route. i went zora, gerudo, rito, goron.
Has anyone beat the game? And if so, how does it stack up iyo? I try and stay tuned and get an idea of y'alls progression but I'm finding that impossible. And try not to be as romantic as the andromeda thread if possible.
Top 3 at least. It's just such a radical progression from the traditional zelda formula. It fees like the type of game they've always wanted to make since the original.
at first, i thought this game may be top 20. it's really slow, and i just couldn't get into it. after about 20 hours in though.... i was just hooked. it's all i could think about. it's definitely a top 5 game for me now. it's just incredible all the time i've put into this game without progressing the story. i'm just running around with side things bulking up before ganon. and i still have one dungeon left before facing him.
holy shit... and just like that i stumble across some hidden clothing!! i was trying to help someone else with their village, and in the search for that help came across something awesome!
game is awesome for either a completionist or just a regular gamer. I had like 60 shrines done by the time I beat the game, didn't bother getting all the memories, just geared myself to where I thought I could beat the game and did so. most into a game I've been in over a decade. wife is >100 shrines, all the memories except 1 that she'll get right before Ganon, etc. wants to check every box before finishing it, Witcher 3 probably the last game she put this many hours into.
i really wanted my wife to play. i let her play first as i watched. she made it to the first campfire and didn't want to talk to him and went to the temple of time, died, and said that was enough.
Went Zora, Gerudo, Goron, Rito. Truly grinded to get a 600 rupee chestplate that allowed me to withstand the heat and get into Goron. I think that's the order that engrossed me as well. Zora felt so immersive. Rito felt like a drive-by.
it appears that horizon and zelda have switched places on april fools, and i'm completely ok with it.
usually on a subreddit. either r/zelda or r/horizon. they talk about their own games. horizon will talk about aloy and the quests, and things they've found. same thing with zelda. you talk about zelda related things like armor, rupee farming... just game related things. but horizon is talking about zelda and vice versa. it's kinda cool since a lot of people are comparing the games together since they've been released.
Not reading the rest of the thread because of possible spoilers. I've done zora, rito, and gerudo. And got the Master Sword after that. I've been extremely disappointed in the music so far. I've heard sprinklings of older stuff, but nothing to sate my appetite for old school stuff. I'm hoping it comes later.
So my brother let me borrow his Switch and I played this back and forth on flights from NY to Phoenix, plus more since I've gotten home. It's so incredible. Currently on my way to Zora for 1st one. I was wondering how the fuck you kill them, I've been avoiding them at all costs. What is Horizon? This statement interests me immensely.
2 dungeons down, 24 shrines, maybe 20 seeds. Getting slaughtered by the centaur looking thing still. Is that to be expected? I also still avoid the Guardians, I feel like I have no chance.
it took me a while to learn how to use the shield properly for the guardians. you have to counter as soon as you hear the little beep. also using the shield against teh lynel to time my dodge for fury shots was huge. for anything but teh shield i put away my weapon and just held the shield then dodged correctly.
I'd slow down on the dungeon aspect and focus on shrines. And stay away from guardians and lynels until you have upgraded armor and plenty of higher powered weapons Also cook meals that increase attack or defense
