Withdrawal bill has been passed unamended and given royal assent. So UK is out on January 31st.

Doesn't appear to be any major rush to reunification in Ireland.

Probably be pretty hard to determine. Demographics have changed a lot. Should be a Catholic majority in coming decade. Doesn’t seem like it’s mattering a whole lot. Will be interesting to follow once Brexit effects fully set in.

Surely with all that extra money going to the NHS instead of the EU Britain should've beat covid already!!!

Oh wait they just had to institute a new lockdown because it's a total shitshow. But at least Boris has a funny haircut and we can all laugh with him it's all a big joke!!!!!

Jeremy Corbyn was in the top 10 greatest enablers of Brexit, I’m not sure what the connection is you’re drawing.

He was as big a disaster as Boris is.

Lol eat shit you weirdo. After a it came out that Russia greatly aided the Brexit vote he wanted another referendum. The Brits got what they wanted with turning hard to the Stories, now they get to fight the EU over all their deals.

The point was that the leave remain split wasn’t aligned by party. There were both leavers & remainers in the two main parties. Corbyn tried to appease everybody and that didn’t work out for him.

He was in a no-win situation, he literally couldn't advocate either way whereas the Tories obviously wanted to keep the results of the referendum. My whole main point was the media over there is even more conservative than here and used smear tactics against him that were quite literally predominantly because of one man, who filedd the majority of these anti-Semitic complaints against him.

Actually no, it was an easy decision. His constituents and party were overwhelmingly pro EU. Yet Corbyn fucked off on holidays during the campaign and was all 7/10 on the EU.

Corbyn has a track record of voting against the EU. He comes from the 1970s school of the hard left of the Labour Party that were against Europe.

    See Michael Foote debate here for where he came from;

Corbyn politics is informed by what Britain did between the 1950s-1970s in terms of controlling industry, something the EEC and later made nearly impossible.

That form of Labour really died out after Foot’s leadership as it was electorally toxic and backwards. It resurrected itself with the weird set of Twitter users who flooded the party in 2015. In reality Corbyn made a half arsed attempt at keeping Britain in the EU as he was happy enough with them out. His behaviour afterwards was similar- it was only the Grenfell Fire and Theresa May’s disaster campaign that briefly got him back in the game.

I couldn’t be arsed really getting into the anti Semitism thing as it has nothing to do with duplicity on the EU but suffice to say that it was also entirely his own fault. The man is a moron and never thought he’d actually be leader so had all these whacky associations on the fringes. I say this as someone who took the piss with a hardline Palestinian view on here for jollies, there are some genuinely unsavoury people on that side of the argument that Corbyn got involved with that he never needed to. He isn’t anti Semitic but will turn a blind eye to people who are anti American and anti Israel. He only had himself to blame on that but his fluffers on Twitter will continue to vote for him in the “best PM Britain never had” to make themselves feel better.

His view is that he recognizes Palestine, quit arguing in bad faith and go back to trying to convince us Sweden's herd immunity strategy is working you right wing idiot.

This is rather strange, you brought up anti Semitism in the context of a post on Corbyn and Brexit. Now you're bringing stuff on Sweden.

Jeremy Corbyn was not attacked for recognising Palestine, it was far more than that.

If you can't stick to an argument, then don't bring it up.

This sucks. I was in Belfast a couple years ago and the people there I spoke with were legitimately worried Brexit would re-spark The Troubles. The whole city still felt really tense even tho it had been 2 decades since any violence had occurred.

Would seem incredibly unlikely. There is very little support for independence in Wales, and the polls haven't changed much at all in Scotland.

NI is probably just a matter of time due to demographics.

BBC did a 6 part “Secret History of the Troubles” a few years ago that was pretty good and Peter Taylor has done like 20 documentaries on them.

Independence in Scotland was polling with about a 5-10% lead all of last year; it’s closed to a dead heat in the last month cuz of the Nikola drama but we’ll see what happens in May elections. Wales is still solidly against but we’ll see what happens now that the sweet sweet EU money is gone and the Tories don’t replace it.

    Cuz they know that
    1) it'll only affect the poors
    2) the poors will continue to vote Tory because
    a) labour is a fucking shambles and LibDems were Tory collaborators 10 years ago and
    b) racism/xenophobia
    3) old UKers cannot fathom they are a shrinking second-rate power held up by the waning coffers of their fallen empire. Which I just don't get cuz they've been flat fuck broke since 1946

Its amazing how many people voted for Brexit without any idea of the actual economic ramifications of the decision.

It’s amazing how nobody brought up how you shouldn’t make decisions like this because when given the option of changing something or keeping them the same, the people wanting a change are going to have a much higher turnout.

I was in the UK the following April and when going to France, British and EU citizens had a separate and much faster line because they were immune from going through customs. I had a good time taunting the people gliding by me that they better enjoy this luxury while they still could.
