speaking of former top prospects if Chris Berman was 30 years younger I have no doubt he'd make a Gin Blossoms reference and call him Jorge "Alfaro you down but not that far"
Based on the latest stuff from Drellich, it sounds like the plan to exchange 2 economic proposals in the 12 months leading up to the end of this CBA will ultimately not result in a new CBA before the deadline. What a shocking result.
waiting until the last minute always worked for me in college and never backfired so i expect it to work for mlb. should see a deal no problem
Some details of the more recent proposals in here. Not sure what to think of a 4 divisions thing. Seems like that wouldn't help with the "tanking" players keep talking about. I'd like to see arb (or some form of it) after year 2, but the PA getting that + FA after 5 years + guaranteed FA at 29.5 isn't happening and it would be a huge win for them if they got any of them. MLB proposing no FA until 29.5 is one of the dumbest things I've seen in this thing.
I am surprised the A's haven't dealt everything nailed down like the Reds are doing. I would expect Bassitt, Laureano, Olson, Chapman, Montas, and Manaea to all have real markets. Both those teams are going to be really bad next year after these fire sales.
At the rate the FA market has gone the last few weeks, the trade market probably hasn't heated up enough to dump guys for the kind of value you're looking for. I would expect the trade market for pitchers, especially, to be really strong whenever the lockout ends. Stroman and Kershaw are the only two notable starters still out there in FA, and the need is significantly greater than that.
This is freaking depressing, hopefully when we sell we don’t request AAAA major league ready this time.
Or have an owner who spends and doesn’t hold on to assets for an all star game, and who’s goal isn’t to tank but be about 5 games below 500 by acquiring major league talent when selling.
Not surprised the chuckleheads aren't familiar with contract language. They probably think Bobby Bonilla is unique too lol.
I’m sure if the dodgers pitched him nonstop during September he would have blamed his dead arm on that too. Max sucked in his last 3 regular season starts and blew his chance at the cy young. Sorry they didn’t give him enough pitches those games!
Weird he would put that all on the Dodgers. Average pitches per start in WSH (19 starts) - 94.1 Average pitches per start in LAD (11 starts) - 94.0
yeah I don’t think it’s some coincidence that the Astros and Braves had like 37 of their top 40 starters unavailable for the World Series
Or that the Dodgers entered the season with 7-8 legit starters and by July had to trade for Scherzer because they needed him.
This entire CBA thing is so dumb. Unless the players are going to hold out for a deal they have no chance of making, I really don't think it's that hard to find common ground in those proposals, but it seems like neither side was willing in any way to move an inch towards that goal in fear of looking weak. And without a real deadline, I'm not sure there's a chance at a serious negotiation of proposals either side would until until around mid-February.
That really stinks for Knebel because Philly isn't allowed to have good relievers so something has to give
Very good signing especially when wastes of space like Wacha are getting close to that #factsoverfeelings
Yup you are correct. Next 2-3 months are nothing more than a dick measuring contest. They could really spin it to be progressive and make it a positive, but as is all things MLB, they’ll somehow sap out more aspects of the game that people truly enjoy. It’s funny because I’ve read about how everyone knows baseball cannot afford another 1994 fiasco. It’s also been said that won’t happen again. To me, I see no indication that either side is operating under this premise. Shit is still getting leaked to reporters like they are 10 year olds. Talk to each other you dumb fucks.
It really makes me confident that the owner in the room for these sessions on their behalf is the Rockies' owner. No reason to think that could go sideways at all.
