Only reason I will disagree is that I enjoy catching as much as possible. At times, during 1000s, there's too much going on.
Coco needs to tighten shit up and start killing people. She's like Andreescu, spends way too much time on court. Also, not sure if anyone caught it, but had a pretty cool factoid on Pegula and Giorgi. Their first match against each other was in 2011. I kind of did a triple take on that one.
Glad for Andreescu she won that US Open bc her other performances are not so great. People give Sabalenka a lot of shit but she’s way more consistent.
Bibi 2019 season was maybe one of the most amazing stories ever. From 154th to start the year to winning Masters 1000s and US Open. Going something like 45-6 on the year. Her 3rd tournament back after missing all of 2020 making the finals at Miami. Since then its been a little rocky. But I honestly think she is like Osaka and just is not mentally capable of the big spotlight. Shes 15-9 on the year, Her losses are all to Top 15 players with the exception of Zheng and Garcia.
I’m of the mindset that “healthy” is relative. All of these players are banged up and some choose to play through it (Nadal) while others don’t.
I’m not really concerned about Bibi at all. She had a good grass swing, played well this week in Toronto. Just needs to stay healthy and keep out there. From a talent perspective, she can hang with anyone.
Right, wasn’t implying any different. Some can’t do it and she may be in that category. Regardless she did it when it counted most I guess. Also, mentioned her when watching Coco earlier in the week. All of this can be mitigated if you don’t spend 2.5 hours on the court every day. Easier said than done certainly, but they both possess the skill to bury people. You could probably correlate the same to Sakkari and Sabalenka. For them it’s probably more just volume of court time going deep frequently. More so last year, this year they haven’t been half as consistent.
Nick should probably skip Cincy next week. He’s played a ton of tennis this summer and it showed today.
