Soto is selling for 193,000 at the moment. There are also 99 Cole and Acuna out there for ten grand range as well. That’s dirt cheap, the Acuna card looks really nice as well.
I also know why there are 15,000 Braves in the game. My god the fanbase, for the game, is absolutely petulant and will not shut the fuck up about a god damn card rating. Anything I have looked at and start to read the comments on it's always tied to Freeman. Christ.
The randomness in this game is really starting to turn me off. Perfect/perfect lineout and then very early way under the ball for a HR. Aggravation to the point I don't want to even play it.
I am the same way. What used to be a 1-0 dry hump is now a game where it’s double digit hits to double digit hits and It’s not fun. Games take forever and honestly not much for me to play for at this point. It was a great game and I’ll come back to it at some point just tired of it now.
The randomness just drives me crazy. I dont mind losing when the other guy is squaring up balls but man it blows when your good swings are outs all game and he K's 18 times but gets 1 very early super low pci and the ball carries out for a HR. Or 3 straight 60 mph exit velocity ground balls find holes. Some will say "that's baseball" and I get that argument but when I'm playing a video game I prefer luck to play a very minor role and that doesn't seem to be the case on The Show right now.
Yeah I think the issue is every bat is 99 with 100+ contact from both sides. PCI is seemingly too forgiving IMO. But like you said I’ll hit some balls outside of my PCI that eek out of park. Same dude, def not dead center, but perfect timing, maybe a little high and line out or a little low mile high pop up. Frequently same contact is a gapper or homer it’s annoying.
I never frequent the video game board but saw there’s a thread on MLBTS21 on there. Figured I’d post it here for the people that only check this thread. https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/the-show-21.181507/#post-16425525
2k really shit the bed this year and idk if they are going to fix it. Been playing a lot more The Show lately and have gotten better at hitting. I've won 4 straight in DD and sitting at 600. Idk if I got better or if the new console, TV, and internet just helped a ton, but I can actually see and react to pitches now. 102 is still a bitch but I can hit it now occasionally. Have 850+ OPS with the guys I got late in the season like Arozarena, Ruth, and Seager. Guys that I had all year are at like 600 so I know I've gotten better. Hit a PH walkoff HR with Thome last night to beat a Prestige 100 guy that was 104-24. I guess he hadn't played DD in a while and was at lower levels working his way back up.
As for next year, I really hope they do something with sinkers and curveballs. Sinkers need to to nerfed. A high sinker should fly out the yard like a high changeup does. And curveballs need to stop hanging 50% of the time even with good input.
I might be wrong, but this years game they put out so many cards compared to the previous years. It made getting them even easier than normal. I’ve always said I appreciate the fact you don’t have to pay real money if you don’t want to unlike FIFA/2K etc. But it seems like with that there was also way more “no sell” cards than I ever remember. Maybe I just never paid attention but it seemed like in the past there was less 95+ type cards, so they cost more on the marketplace but it seemed like the majority could at least be purchased. I’m assuming the lack of a season going for the first few months played a factor in how cards were this year.
And the gap between early top tier guys and late season top guys shouldn't be as big as it is now. You could have spent a fortune early in the year building a team, taken 6 weeks off, and come back to none of those guys being worth a shit bc the next round is so much better. So many guys with 125 power that were added in the playoffs and WS. Guys like Arozarena and Soto shouldn't be better than Mickey fucking Mantle.
Yea im a fan of making cards accessible by grinding but you should be able to sell/buy them too. If someone wants to grind, cool. If someone wants to just buy a squad, cool.
Well god damn post more you just motivated me. I went through a good stretch where I was improving significantly and it was fun. That said my two biggest gripes are: let me control my bat with my right finger please. The controller settings are shit. Stealing bases is a horrible experience for me. Pitching and batting. I realize I need some work but I put in a ton of time and didn’t figure much out. Felt like some dudes just used my butthole in events. Finally need to really use the hell out of quick innings this year. Really didn’t take advantage of it last year mainly because I had no fucking clue what I was doing. end rant I’ll shut up.
Oh I'm still ass compare to the actually good players. But I can score 5+ on hall of fame pretty regularly now. Timing is way better. I really do think the new TV and internet have helped. Its milliseconds difference when playing the game and going from 80 to 12 input lag has helped a ton.
And yea stealing bases is such shit. I've tried timing it but the always get a slow jump. My only prayer is to use L2 and then try to get a lead right as he starts his windup. And that's only with 99 speed and 99 steal Cobb.
Yeah, I think that is how it was in the previous years I played, at least that is how I remember it, but not 100%. I think the pandemic forced them to just put a bunch of stuff out and keep the game fresh since they couldnt do the in-season upgrades, plus Im sure people were playing the game way more. I think the minor league thing was a cool addition, and not sure what the original plan was, but I think they just kept adding stuff to keep the game fresh. Kind of a double edge sword I guess, because I feel like they do a good job of keeping the game fun for everyone, plus constantly updating rosters and stuff, but then it can get saturated with 100 guys that are 99+. But the alternative is a game that gets like 3 patches a year like NHL21 or some other EA disaster lol
Ive waited forever for this game to come out for Xbox, didnt think it would ever happen. Its the reason I got a PS4. Now I will have to decide if I get it for Xbox or not. Just hope its not all jacked up for Xbox since its year one.
True, it could be worse. 2k hasn't had a patch in over a month and it's still 1h of thr season. They haven't added clothes or shoes to the game since it dropped. A couple way overpowered moves in the game that just get spammed over and over. Not even remotely fun to play right now. My squad hasn't run in 10 days. We used to run 5 nights a week.
I’m really fucking pumped for this game. dblplay1212 i know you mainly bought a team but given the discussion and gripes, you’d be best served just waiting it out a bit. Grind a little bit, get some game shit then go to town. Just saying you grinded out babe, which I did not. Only say that because imo mantle was far and away best card in the game. Well worth the time.
That was my understanding yes. I didnt realize that would be the case until today. Not sure if that's only for the next gens or what.
I bought my early team but half my team is now postseason guys that came in that easy postseason program that was loaded with players. C - Darnaud and Posey platoon 1b - Ruth 2b - Cano HR derby SS - Seager postseason 3b - Banks LF - Stanton/Judge HR derby CF - Cobb RF - Arozarena
This game had prospects who were better than Trout. It’s just a factor of continually needing to push out new content to maintain interest (and keep soaking wallet warriors). Power increase over time is inescapable, and they can’t release playoff cards until the playoffs. Do it the other way, and people complain that you don’t get to play with legends until after 90% of the player base has quit. Mantle was the best card in the game, by far, for like 3 months (until whenever MVP Trout came out).
They need to dial back the 99ovrs, make those more selective and put more cards into the mid to high 90s more
This for sure. Obviously I wasn’t complaining as someone who just grinds out and doesn’t spend money, but it still got a little stale when everyone had 97s+
Yea its tough for them, for sure. I think the end game players should be sprinkled throughout, not backloaded. The only early on player that can still play on end game teams is Posey, honestly. Soto and Arozarena are statistically better hitters than Trout or Mantle. That's dumb imo. The whole postseason pack was way too juiced based on a month of play.
And I know MLB is HR heavy now but damn like 90% of runs are scored on HR's in the game. Need to make singles and doubles more common.
Yeah since I suck at hitting at times, I almost wish it was easier to play small ball or manufacture runs. I know it’s boring as hell, but if I have a lead off double I wouldn’t mind bunting the guy to 3rd but everyone has like 12 bunt ratings lol
I need to get back in to DD. Been running a franchise with Bacon’s roster. I’m approaching 1300 hours on the show though, actually stupid. I blame the remote work and leaving the game on overnight for no reason.
1st inning: weak ground ball chopper that splits 2nd and ss. OK, whatever. Next batter hit a grounder straight 2 ss, should be easy dp. Nope, boots it, everyone safe. Next batter hits a swinging bunt in front of the mound. Pitcher takes forever and batter reaches first on a 10 foot hit. Of course, next batter hits a slam. RIP my 4 in a row.
More things to fix - Bullshit swinging bunts shouldn't be a hit very often. Happens way too much on here. Tappers to the pitcher should be 99% outs - checks swings should be 50/50. Right now it's literally 90% called not a swing. Infuriating when someone does it all game and never gets called.
So fun to just hit bombs in the game. One thing I’d love is a fast mode. Have like 3 seconds to pick your pitch or it’s down the middle. One time out that’s 30 second and just give the game a fucking DH. For RP you have 15 seconds and it you don’t make a selection in time have the game put your next guy in. Have to do something with steals and pick offs but I’d be alright with both being out. I just want to pitch and hit.
I've won 4 straight, up to 680, my highest ranking ever. I used to get close to 600 but rarely over. Biggest difference is hitting by far. Led off last night with a hit by Cobb, walk for Soto, and 3 run tank for Randy. Held on for a 6-5 win. Game is infinitely more enjoyable when it's not 1-0 every game.
I am going to give it a go again. I just play a few games a week in BR at the moment. I'd play events but the hitting is on Legendary now and not getting in many ABs I win 2-3 games and then someone absolutely destroys me. Anyhow, biggest issue I have is just finding a full hour to get a game in.
I did yeah. Tried on PS5 but only had slots for PS4. Came to post this a few times but adhd kicked in and prevailed.
Ayyyyyy finally hit 700. Couldn't hit Paxton for shit. Got to his pen late and Soto walked it off with a bomb.
I hope it's like the old 2k system. If you were elite at one thing, say 95+ shooting, you were only decent to bad in other areas. This year they fucked up and allowed you to build your guy any way you wanted with a set # of points and everyone made the exact same demi-god. Very high dunks and shooting and great defense. No close shot and no strength bc theh don't matter. No stamina bc you don't need it in 3v3 games to 21. No inside defense bc there's no huge slow post scoring centers. I could see similar in The Show. Only need 3 pitches as a reliever. 102 Sinker, 75 change up, 85 slider. For hitting you don't need vision so max power and contact.
