Was hoping he wouldn't be dumb enough to go with that ground and pound bullshit when he has access to some of the best and fastest athletes in the country but whatever. I don't get coaches who do that shit when the wind hasn't blown that way in years. It backs you into a corner where if you don't have the best and most talented athletes at all times you're limiting your chances to score. It's dumb stuff. You also have to hit on those Oline recruits or you are big time fucked. Miami hasn't had a good Oline in years. Even Saban realized that and opened it up
none of the OC he's been rumored to be interested are ground and pound so can we stop that narrative until he atleast hires a run heavy OC
Curiously Joe Moorhead’s offense at Oregon didn’t look anything like his offenses at Penn State and Mississippi State but rather looked exactly like Mario’s offense under Marcus Arroyo.
I don't understand this comment because wasn't Moorehead considered a run first coach even before he came to Oregon? True he made arroyo go away from Taggart blur bs but as we've all seen now Taggart offense sucks so maybe that wasnt a bad thing. The names that have been associated with guys Mario is after aren't run heavy coaches
Miami is targeting Kevin Steele for its defensive coordinator job, sources tell @on3sports. Steele, who has been a defensive coordinator at places such as Auburn, LSU, Clemson and Alabama, had been set to take the DC job at Maryland. https://www.on3.com/news/2021-22-coaching-carousel-tracker-college-football/
His plan A hire fell through. This was plan B. Shit happens. Pretty strong hire for a plan B situation IMO.
I wouldn’t call Kevin Steele a strong plan B. Dudes a cancer. He’s coached under established coaches and always find a way to get told to move on.
i mean he’s a good defensive coordinator the problem is he tried to steal Gus’ job but that’s obviously not an option here
I like the hire. Wasn’t expecting much better at this point tbh. Some much needed competence and stability at defense again.
Our disdain for the offense in the Morehead era had nothing to do with it being "run first." Run first is fine. But if you're gonna run slow developing repetitive shit over and over again because you have misplaced faith in your O line's ability to dominate, we're gonna get cranky fast.
Who yall hiring for HC in 2023? Was this supposed to be some burn? All these dudes are mercenaries these days
Got the DC just in time for Shemar’s handler to find a new excuse for why he’s not signing with Miami tomorrow
“when we said we wanted to make sure Shemar was playing DE in a 4 man front we actually meant we wanted him to play inside in a 3 man front and that’s what Texas AM promised that put them over the top”
I would like a decently young up and comer from a smaller yet well known school from up north (i.e. creighton, loyola, drake) to replace Larranaga once he hangs it up
From DMoney on CIS. Let’s see. Hearing it could be a college coach. Young with exciting offense. People will be happy if it comes to pass
Sure. I get why Mario continued to chase Brady, but at some point you have to let it go. Same with Dorsey. The writing was on the wall for him to get a NFL OC gig for over a month. He wasn't coming.
Anyone here upset at all by the Stewart miss? just hoosier? Thought so. Couple nice flips today. Top 20 class. All in a few months. I have no complaints.
Tweet from @GabyUrrutia247: VIP: A new name to know at offensive coordinator for Miami. https://247sports.com/college/miami...-offensive-cooridnator-alex-golesh-182070378/ https://t.co/jmoSizTE18
O god not the offense that basically kills your defense I watched that for few years with ucf. Hopefully he slows it down. It’s going to be very good for Van Dyke tho
So we’re bringing in an OC with no play calling experience despite having all that money. That’s a massive L
prior play calling experience is one of the most overrated skillsets fans use to judge potential OC/DCs way more important to see who they've been around and worked with, what system they implement, how they approach gameplaning/redzone/3rd down etc.
