When the virus hit China I cancelled our April trip to Vegas because: 1) Top international destination with boo coo Asian visitors, 2) Vegas is the ultimate “me first” culture, no one is going to take precautions in order to protect others, 3) Being jammed like sardines into the casino floors, shopping corridors, Strip sidewalks, and Fremont Street.
MGM closing all hotels/casinos in LV starting March 17. If that shit doesn’t make you concerned about the Coronavirus, then I dunno if anything will.
Recent survey sent by MGM to Platinum and Noir level members. How would any of these concepts impact your decision to go to Vegas when restrictions are relaxed? https://vitalvegas.com/mgm-resorts-survey-gives-insights-into-what-may-lie-ahead/
I'm going to go as soon as it's open, or I should say as soon as they don't make me wear a stupid mask. I read Wynn's policy and no thanks.
Don't care about any of that, but if I can't smoke my cigars, I'll be agitated. And LO-fucking-L at the goddamn Hoover Dam.
I didn’t even see a Hoover Dam reference. I doubt the No Smoking option gets a lot of support from the Noir and Platinum crowd. My biggest issue was limiting entrance to resort guests. I like the idea of keeping the street people out, but I also like to visit other properties when I’m there.
Yeah, I feel the same way. But I go to Vegas to visit the other properties, too, and not being able to get to my favorite restaurants for example, would be a massive negative. Really, I go to Vegas for the social experience, so I'm not sure what that looks like. This was the Hoover Dam thing:
A story about the re-opening of Egg Works in Las Vegas. After this pandemic is done and we begin making our way back to Vegas you should have a breakfast at Egg Works. I used to go to the one on East Sunset frequently. https://news3lv.com/news/local/las-vegas-restaurant-owner-sees-success-in-first-day-of-opening
My favorite breakfast place. Summerlin was closest, bus sometimes we’d hit sunset then watch planes come in.
LOL. MGM, the entity that started charging for casino parking on the Strip, announced that parking will be free when they open up their properties. https://www.fox5vegas.com/coronavir...cle_1ae58fa4-9937-11ea-9bf6-677600ba4e46.html
Not sure I expect anything less than Fremont Street, but based on the videos I’ve seen of the reopening we might be back on lockdown by about July when “Wave 2” hits.
Some info on some of MGM’s new restaurant approaches to C19. https://vegas.eater.com/2020/6/4/21...go-mayfair-safety-health-coronavirus-pandemic
More info on the approaches of several of the big casino entities. Changes in frequent player programs, gaming table minimums, Aria rises from the ashes (for the second time), etc... https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/stiffs-and-georges/mgm-changes-mind-on-aria-no-appetite-for-deals/
This would certainly alter an iconic skyline. https://vitalvegas.com/rumor-mill-demolition-could-be-in-the-cards-for-luxor/
I actually like Luxor a lot. It has a relaxed or calm vibe to it. Not sure how to best describe it. Excalibur is filthy and ugly, but I appreciate it.
stayed at the Luxor for a night a couple of years ago and liked it. I’m a vegas novice, but I would stay there again. I definitely like it better than Paris.
I like it too. The steakhouse there is very good. My guess is that MGM regrets all of the air space that could be filled with guest rooms.
I will not stand for this act of aggression. I'll handcuff myself to the god damn doors, if I have to. The Luxor is old enough, its starting to be looked at fondly the way we looked at The Sands, the Sahara, The Flamingo, all the "Old" Las Vegas casinos.
If I had my way it would be: Stratosphere Sahara CC/Riviera Stardust /Wynncore TI/Palazzo Mirage/Venetian Harrahs & Royale CP/ Imperial Palace & O’Shea’s Flamingo Bellagio/Bally’s & Paris Cosmo/Aladdin Aria & City Center Monte Carlo NYNY/MGM with the cartoon lion Excalibur/Trop Luxor Mandalay Bay Downtown would have Fitz instead of the D, Lady Luck instead of Grand, and LV Club in it’s old spot. Full theme on all of it, of course. I never knew the sands or dunes myself.
Circa Resort & Casino to open on Fremont Street in October. Will be the only adult only resort casino in town. https://www.travelandleisure.com/attractions/adults-only-casino-circa-resort-las-vegas
Never knew all of this about the light beam https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.te...famous-waypoints-aviation-luxor-sky-beam/amp/
The demise of, for me, a Vegas institution. It was difficult as hell to get seating, but was unique. https://vegas.eater.com/2020/7/21/2...lazzo-closes-permanently-coronavirus-pandemic
It was a landmark for me, “My place is just a pinch North of the Luxor beam and 10 minutes East on Flamingo”
That was the first restaurant I ever went to in Las Vegas back in 2009. Used a Travel Zoo deal for lunch on the first day of my first trip. I was pumped. I can’t remember the food, though. Sad to see it go.
