I've mentioned before that I read the first three last summer but didn't have time to finish the fourth before school started again so I didn't start. Then after hearing poor things about AFFC, I've been reassured since then that it isn't as bad as people make, over winter break I read the prologue and didn't have the motivation to continue. Someone on here mentioned a possible way of getting through AFFC, after my fear of it just being a chore to get to ADWD, that I read them in combination as they take place concurrently just the books display different vantage points. Is it feasible for me to alternate chapters in each book or should I just read AFFC and then go on to ADWD?
I would read AFFC and then ADWD. AFFC really isn't bad. It just lacks some of the best characters, but allows you to bond with some of the smaller characters.
AFFC just sucks to read because it gets the shit end of the vantage point draw. i would be worried about reading them blended together like that because maybe theres references to the end of book 4 in the beginning of book 5. or maybe theres something revealed at the beginning of book 5 that you shouldnt know about while reading book 4. no specific examples come to mind but id imagine theres some little things.
half of book 5 is with book 4 but the last half is past it. I don't know the books well enough to say if you could do it without fucking shit up. I wouldn't because these books are badass and if you don't want to read them you're a shitty person.
when I reread these two before the next novel comes out in neveryear I'm going to do the combo thing instead of reading them separately to see how that goes.
Couldn't agree more. I was very pleasantly surprised by Book 4 but then again i was able to read them right after another. I can see how some people would be disappointed if they waited 3-4 years after the tremendous third book to never read anything on some of the player major players. Having to wait 6-8 years would be pretty shitty.
I'm about 250 into AFFC and I'm enjoying it. The Brienne chapters are a bit tiresome but overall I've liked it.
Worst part of reading book 4 then book 5 Spoiler is having to read half of book 5 before the Arya cliffhanger in book 4 is resolved. Shit pissed me off.
